What's in a name? The-boy-who-lived, prophesied defeater of the Dark Lord, son of the supremely intelligent Lily Evans and talented James Potter, Golden boy of Gryffindor, part-time punching bag and house elf of the Dursleys and the bane of Severus Snape's teaching career, Harry's used to labels. Who would want Harry when they can see instead whoever they like instead? Having never been entirely sure who he is makes him a little too open to suggestion though and unfortunately for him, Umbridge wants to banish his old list of names and create a new one of her own.
Beneath the names others have branded him with will anyone be able to find Harry?

    Was Harry's bad reaction to the pepper-up perhaps to do with that mysterious potion Umbridge gave him? I forgot about it for a bit but I remembered it this chapter ... I guess we'll find out the true effects of it sometime soon?
    This chapter was good - but I definitely want at least someone to get vicious at Sirius - I'd love to be able to do that for some of my friends' parents but I never seem to have the confidence to do so ... plus, I'm pretty sure I'd offend them, which wouldn't be good ... :D

    Oh yes, it’ll be Poppy and/or Sev who will find that potion very shortly, and I won’t say yes or no until then but nice guessing!  Ten points for that one!

    And some vicious consequences for Sirius?  Okey dokey (I seem to have a lot of people thinking he deserves it which I couldn’t agree with more – it seems a little ridiculous that no one had anything to say about it in the books but there we go ^^) – you have friends whose parents deserve some consequences too?  Hmm, it probably would get you in a bit of trouble if you did what I think Ron’s close to doing to Sirius but you must be a very loyal friend to want to, it’s a hard situation but in Harry’s case I think it would help him more to have loyal friends by his side than angry ones too busy berating Sirius to notice anything (in this fic he seems to have both though, lucky boy ^^)

    Thanks so much, I’ll try to keep updates quick, especially with chapter 11 (after 10 you might want another quick one ^^)

    That was a cliffie! But it was a very good one - I may not always like them but that one was definitely needed for this chapter ...
    But I'm beginning to get seriously creeped out now - I know that I really don't want to know what Umbridge has done and why, but there's some part of me that has a morbidly fascinated desire to find out - it's like in a horror movie - when you know there's something horrible behind the door, but you're still desperate to open it and see it for yourself ...
    This story is very clever. I like it a lot!
    Plus, I like the points idea! My assumption this time is that the 'weeping words' on Harry's back have some connection to occlumency, which implies that Umbridge has been trying to glean information off Harry - or that she's maybe trying to impress her own beliefs on him through that medium ... too extravagant? :D Thank you so much for updating!

    Oh good, at least if I’m going to make you wait I’m doing it in an impressive kinda way ^^ (bet that doesn’t help all that much though huh) – and you’re right, it didn’t seem the kind of chapter that could end with ‘and then he went to sleep and everything sucked a bit’ (not that many chapters should end like that... of anything ^^) aww thank you so much!  Usually I don’t think I’d be so happy that it sounds like I’ve thoroughly creeped you out but you said it in such a lovely way I cant help feeling flattered ^^ - don’t worry, I’ll give fair warning when the door’s about to open ^^ ... *boo*... see... I can be scary... I CAN... *pokes out tongue* (see, I really don’t think you’ll be scared... unless that did scare you in which case Im sorry! *hands you muffin and pats you on the back* don’t be scared ^^)

    Thanks!  Although you should probably tell EllaEleniel that because I got the idea of points from her fic on ff.net, I absolutely loved the idea and couldn’t help wanting to try it too (I’ve just given so many muffins I needed a new idea... *gives you muffins*... see, I cant stop! ^^)

    And no, certainly not too extravagant at all!  Your idea’s a very good one and so very very close... but then, I’m not finished yet (don’t worry, not very much torture at all left but there will be the tiniest bit... with lots of warning of course... and a purpose... and then fluff! ^^) – I’ll add your points to the tally ^^ (and an extra one for leaving one of the nicest reviews I got for my scary chapter ^^)

    I remembered the potion! Was that responsible for muting Harry's anger briefly at lunch? Is that one of the aims of it? My other theory is that it's intended to stop him from getting help and treatment for the problems Umbridge is causing him ... When you mentioned the ghost in the last chapter, did you mean Moning Myrtle? Or was it something more subtle than that? Ooooh I love this story!!!! :D
    This chapter was amazing (I say that about all of them but I liked this one especially), but I just desperately, desperately, desperately (!!!) want something, anything, to prevent Harry from making it to that detention! I don't care who it is, or what - I'd rather he pass out than make it there ... but I know that my hopes will hold no sway in the next chapter which has probably already been planned out ... I was hardly daring to believe it when Snape was dragging him to the infirmary but just as I thought 'yes! it's actually going to happen!' Voldermort had to stick his flat, snake-like nose in. I don't think I've ever felt such a quick swing from hope to despair in a book before - you are one talented author!
    There's loads more I could write about (like your breath-taking insightings into the characters' minds and the beautiful descriptions) but they're present in every chapter so I won't go into detail, plus, my cat is plaintively telling me it's time to go to bed and give him a cuddle!
    Have a good christmas (this is given in advance in case I don't get to review before then) and take your time with the update - I won't add to the pressure I'm sure others are giving you in their desperation to read on!

    Thank you ^^ *muffins for you* - I know I’ve been building tension and suspense to the point of idiocy (on my part, I think I’ve pissed off all my readers ^^) but it really is just about done... not the fic but the more awful parts with the least sev/harry ^^

    And all I can do is apologise profusely (sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry) because unfortunately the detention is necessary, but I’ve done my best to make it as quick and painless (to read) as possible if that helps at all?  And as much as the next bit has been planned out (in as much as I plan anything... which is a little slipshod... at best ^^) I get so many ideas and new directions from reviewers and everything helps, whether in the direction of the fic or helping me know where each reader is coming from so please don’t think what you say has no sway over it, it really does! *more muffins* ^^

    Aww *throws caution to the wind and hugs you* thank you!  I mean, sorry for making you swing from hope to despair so fast it sounds like it caused whiplash but chalking my evil streak up to being talented, that’s so sweet!!!     WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS STORY!!!!!!!!
    I'm so happy!!!! The big chapter is here! It's here to read and love and read again and it was ... the only word I can think of to describe it is AMAZING but that no where near encompasses the brilliance of this chapter! It was beautiful! You've conveyed the feelings of the characters to perfection - especially the part where Harry's wandering the school after the detention - the fear and confusion and feeling of absolute solitude came across just brilliantly, and I thought it was wonderful! I think that's my favourite bit - not because it's happy or sad, but simply because it just seems to draw me right in, until I feel as though I'm a small part of his confused mind - and I love that connection between character and reader ... I love the bit with Harry's mum too - which is once again sad - but strangely heart-warming too ... :D
    Reading through this, I wouldn't blame you if you're freaking out about all the compliments and flattery - but I simply run by the rule that if I like a story, or love it, and think it so amazing it's beyond words, I should tell the author that! And the fact that I get such lovely replies from you just makes me want to give you a big hug as well!!! (Although - on your footnote, not too sure what you mean by 'kidnappy'?!)
    I don't particularly care about how quickly the next chapter comes out (although I am looking forward to more Harry/Snape interactions) because I'll be smiling at the thought of this one for weeks!!!
    Hope you had a good christmas too, and enjoy a warm and hug-filled year in 2010!

    Hehe... I’m guessing... and I might be wrong... but I’m guessing you liked this chapter? ^^  I’m so glad it drew you in so much, especially when Harry’s running after his detention because  I was aiming for that and had hoped I didn’t accidentally make it impossible to read instead ^^  and I think the biggest compliment I took away from your review was that you felt as though you’d become a small part of Harry’s mind – that I could immerse you so thoroughly in something I’d written makes me all giggly ^-^ thank you so much for all those wonderful, incredibly lovely things you said, *hugs you*, you must have had a thesaurus handy to have found so many ways to flatter me (and rest assured, I’m feeling thoroughly flattered... and hyper and squeeful ^^)

    Oh, and the ‘kidnappy’ remark I made was because Wrinkled Fabric and I have been discussing her plans to kidnap me (usually only when I take ages to update... usually ^^) and possibly a line of designer balaclavas or, failing that, a Snape mask ^-^.  Our discussion of it’s gotten pretty detailed (and hilarious ^^) so I thought I should add the ‘kidnappy’ in my footnotes ^^.

    And very very glad you don’t mind so much about how long the next chapter will take because my plans to update weekly seems to have unravelled.  Hopefully soon though ^-^

    Awwww!!! I like this Severus!! He's perfect - protective, caring, and loving ... I just want to give him a big hug! ... ¬.¬ and hopefully get one in return ... that would be nice! :)
    Liked all the warm fuzziness in the chappie! Very nice contrast to the horrors of what Severus and Poppy were having to treat ...
    O.O Umbridge. I knew it was bad but this was beyond even my imagining! I don't likes her >:( But I am even more intrigued now about why she did what she did - and I oddly want to know what her reasoning was ...
    My favourite interaction moment is when Snape is trying to persuade Harry to go to the infirmary (can't remember what chapter) - I love the conflict he has of caring for Harry yet still trying to maintain his I-hate-all-things-Potter mindtrack :D
    Looking forward to the next chapter, but don't worry about the timing - I trust you to not abandon this, and you would never betray someone who gives gifts of long reviews ... would you?!? :D

    Hehe, isn’t he just!  And I reckon he’d give cuddles back to anyone who wanted one (I am so first in line) ^^  ooh, I didn’t think of the contrasts between Poppy and Sev being horrified and Harry’s warm fuzzies.. I just needed a break when I was writing it for some comfort and figured the reader probably would too... oooh, contrasts... yeah, I’m a bit tired right now (ha, is it obvious?)

    Oh I am so very very happy that you want to know Umbridge’s reasoning (you know, beyond insanity) – oh what wonderful, perceptive readers I have ^^ keep reading ^^

    Oh, I love writing a conflicted Sev almost as much as a cuddly, caring one.  Sorry I couldn’t draw that out more- which one would you prefer?

    Another fantabulous chapter!! This was brilliant - I loved seeing everyone's reactions to Harry's condition, and their reflexive protection for him, especially in the presence of Umbridge - and that was a nice bonus! Didn't think we'd be seeing any of her for a little while ... although I should have known that she could never keep her nose out of any business concerning Harry ... :]
    I especially liked Severus in this chapter - even though I said I prefer it when he's still conflicted regarding his feelings for Harry, in this story it is absolutely right that he's not. The urgency of Harry's situation and the continued danger means that anything other that complete protectiveness would be a waste of time. And anyway ... there's still plenty of time for Severus to come to terms with his feelings regarding Harry without all this urgency ... I hope?

And what a perfect way to say it!  Their protective reactions were rather reflexive weren’t they? ^^ and no, Umbridge has absolutely no idea what’s good for her so rest assured she’ll stick her nose into something painful rather soon ^^ and yes, Sev will come to terms with his feelings about Harry at a better time than when he’s dying... and unconscious ^^ we’ll get there!  Hope the wait hasn’t been too long! *hides*
