About me:

Hello from good old Virginia! I am new to the Harry Potter fanfiction craze, despite liking the series for over two years now (yeah, I was a late bloomer in that sense).  I guess you could say that I like drama and the hurt and comfort fics best, though I read a lot of other genres as well. My favorite characters of "Harry Potter," are: Severus (duh), Hermoine, Harry, Remus and Luna. Ron is all right, but tends to annoy me.

As stated, I'm from Virginia, and have a Southern twang...even for Virginia standards (I was at work and a customer asked me if I was from Tenessee or Georgia).

I have beta'ed several of other various genres and would gladly beta someone's within reasons.  Obviously, I would beta American English, but I am studying British English and am comfortable with it so maybe later.

Good chapter, loved that they went home and more fun can start. BTW, when are you updating Moonfire? I'd love to see an update on that one. :-D

    Author's Response:

And what fun it's going to be! I have a lot planned for the summer.

I should be updating Moon Fire soon, like after I finish one more chapter of this one.  So far I'm working on four stories, RPM, MF, and two over at ff.net, Irresistible Chemistry my AU Sev/Lily romance fic and But for a Dog, a young Sev story that I wrote as a tribute to my sister's collie Gabriel, who recently passed away. Gabriel is Sev's dog in the story and also his best friend. Harry will eventually be brought in that one but not till later chapters. If you want to check those out just click on my ff.net profile on here, it's on my author page.

Aw that was a cute chapter! The shaving scene was rather funny. :-D

    Author's Response:

    Thanks autumn!

I wasn't sure about that part because I've never had that experience myself, LOL!

Great chapter as always, don't let Hannah bring you down. You weren't bashing him and you write very well.

Loved this chapter especially how Minerva stood up with Severus. Really, how ALL the heads stood up for "their children!" :-) Great job!

Author's Response: Thanks autumn! I always thought that the Heads of House would be protective over their own Houses. I mean, heck, if SNAPE was in canon HP, then I figured the others had to be too. Thanks for the review!! :)

After a series of tests to discover why Harry's magic has become erratic, a secret is revealed, one hidden for over fifteen years. But not all secrets disappear without consequence, leaving Severus to learn that potions cannot heal everything.

Yay, you updated! :-D Great chapter, I really enjoyed it. Though I like Lupin, this part serves him right, ""Snape," Lupin tried to protest as he picked himself up off the floor, but with his drunken slur it sounded more like a whine. "

Severus definately doesn't know how to handle himself with the prospect of being nice to Harry's friends, hehe. "Severus rolled his eyes. Did Weasley think he was able to assign detentions and take house points during the summer? Not that the Potions Master minded he had that effect on his students at all, but it was rather annoying when he was left with the mess to clean up. But wait, Mr. Weasley was no longer just a student to him. He was Harry's friend, his son's friend, which meant that Severus needed to at least be courteous and civil with the rather uncoordinated teen if he wished to remain in his son's good graces." Yeah, Ron is rather uncoordinated, now that I think about it.

"Mr. Potter will not be ready to face the Dark Lord anytime soon as you know, Albus. I suggest you find an alternative, one that has adults fighting an adult war," That's so true, I wish someone HAD told Dumby that in the books, it seemed that Harry was only a fighting machine to some people, including Albus.

The Headmaster refused to take the hint and so the Potions Master sent the image of Harry on his hands and knees on the stone floor, vomiting into the basin as Severus held his shaky body up. Dumbledore fled his mind and slumped in his chair, his eyes cast downward. " That serves Dumby right, most definately.

"Hand over your wand," Moody maneuvered around the table until he was in front of Dumbledore. "A simple spell will take care of the accusation against you." I so wish that Moody had checked, and then they would all see Dumby's manipulation as well as his lie.

"He's doing well," Minerva backed him up as interested eyes turned to her. "I was with Harry earlier to help with a Transfigurations lesson." Why the heck, didn't she say anything a bit earlier,eh? I suppose she had to wait for the right moment.

"Besides, we have more important things to discuss considering our spy let himself be discovered."

That was it. Severus refused to allow the Headmaster to get away with that last comment. "If I hadn't followed Potter and his friends to the Ministry, we'd be dealing with overcoming the loss of those children! Tell me, Albus, what would we do then without the supposed chosen one?" The Potions Master sprang up from his chair, his hand itching to reach for his wand. There were so many hexes he'd like to send Albus' way, hexes that would show him the pain Harry was currently suffering as perhaps a result of the Ministry incident." Oh that is low, even for Dumby, how dare he, like Severus said, without his intervention, the kids would have surely died. Then what would Dumby do?

Severus connected with the Headmaster and pushed images of the paternity potion and Lily's letter towards him, letting him know in no uncertain terms that he knew Harry was his child.

Dumbledore gasped as he broke eye contact with Severus. "We will speak of this new development in my office tomorrow."

"With Minerva present," the Potions Master demanded. He didn't doubt for one minute that if he were to meet with Albus alone, the meddling fool might try to obliviate him to maintain a modicum of control over his son.

"If you insist," Albus sighed. " Good, Severus, I trust Dumby the distance I could throw him (without magic), which is none.

I hope Harry will react well, I mean I know he'll be shocked and probably angry, but I hope that he'll forgive Severus soon too (it's always been said that he has a forgiving/loving nature). I don't think Severus could bare it if Harry rejected him. Not only that, but as Severus said, he should attend the memorial for his godfather, to aid in the mental healing process. I wonder what type of precautions Severus was refering to, I can think of some but I'm looking foward to seeing what you think. The memorial will be hard on Harry, besides the sadness of it, he has to face his friends for the first time since his treatments began. The next week will be one of his "off chemo" weeks, but still...I wonder when Harry will start showing obvious signs of chemo, such as hair loss. I know from medical articles and seeing my own friends have chemo, that it typically takes about two weeks for the hair to fall out, but Harry never does anything as expected. I do wonder as I've stated before, how it's going to affect Harry, or Snape for that matter. In several chapters, it's mentioned that Snape is carding his hands through Harry's hair. I look foward to reading about that hair loss, as I personally think that it be a strong sentiment.

I also look foward to seeing Harry interact with his friends for the first real time since his diagonisis. I know that will be awkward. When Courtney (my middle/high school friend with cancer) was diagnosed with it at the end of eighth grade, the health teacher tried to prepare us with books/ pamplets and such (I already was into fiction books about a girl with cancer, so I knew a bit more than most). Harry needs his friends, even though it will definately not be comfortable at first. Which brings me to another question, has Severus read the letters that Hermoine and Ron sent yet in a much earlier chapter. I know that they were for Harry, but Snape decided that he'd "screen" them first. I know he hasn't much time, but he probably should read them at some point or risk some rather concerned friends of Harry's. That's a moot point though.

A question: How much time has passed since the story began, I can't remember. I'm asking because in the previous chapter, Snape knew that Molly would be shocked at Harry's appearance, but as Severus had seen Harry transform bit by bit, he wasn't.

I'm glad to see you've updated, it really made my day. I will send you the second chapter of my story soon, I'm almost done with it (with dukie's stroke, having to put her in a "rehab" center and my father visiting from FL, I haven't a lot of time). Sorry to hear about your computer, that stinks.

    Thanks for the lolly. :-D

    Author's Response:

I figured Lupin would be rather depressed and while I don't think he's an alcoholic, I'm sure alcohol is one of the readily available things at Grimmauld Place. Plus, in some ways it's better that he's at least staying there instead of going out and running into trouble.

It'll definitely take some time for Severus to adjust to Harry's friends. He's not used to being nice to his students, especially Gryffindors and now he'll have to be.

When Dumbledore accused Snape of letting himself be discovered that was the last straw for Sev. The Order meeting let Sev vent his pent up frustrations and the other members' rose covered glasses were removed at the same time. It'll be interesting to see if a split happens in the Order or if communication will break down. It could cause unpleasant consequences...

The memorial is going to be really hard for Harry and not only because his friends will be there. It'll be one of his "off chemo" weeks, but that doesn't mean he won't be feeling some of the side effects still. You're right that it's going to be terribly awkward. As for the letters, I think Sev has forgotten. *gasps, yes, I know* He's had a ton of other things on his mind and as his sleep deprivation is accumulating he's forgetting some of the little stuff.

This chapter took place on either Monday or Tuesday June 24/25. I'd have to go back and check for the exact date. According to my little time line that I've got noted down that needs a bit of updating, Sev signed the medical proxy forms on Tuesday, June 18 which would mean the story started the previous week. So we're about at the 2 week mark in the timeline. I know it seems like a lot more time has passed, but I've been putting a lot of details into each day. More time than that has passed since Molly had last seen Harry. He last saw her right after the Ministry incident which was a week or two before that. I really need to update the timeline because I really did have it all worked out. lol. Thanks!

Title: Chapter 25: A Relative Calm Before the Storm 01 Nov 2009
Reviewer: autumnamberleaves (Signed)
Wow...sorry for the long wait in reviewing this chapter...life's been crazy with Grandma and Kohl's...sigh....anyways...

I feel a tad sorry for Minerva as she is totally clueless in how to handle Harry, she tried so hard but did the wrong things. ("She had insisted, more like demanded, he eat more than a few spoonfuls of oatmeal, which of course just came back up less than an hour later, and then proceeded to give him the last Transfigurations lecture he had missed since he had been in the Hospital Wing.") Ghh...that would be annoying. I know it will be some rough times ahead, but I hope that Harry will forgive Snape for his serious lack of judgement years ago. Like my comment about Minerva, he did what he thought was right at the time but now knows better. I can't inmagine the guilt he must feel now.

"If he wasn't, he'd find someone magical who was even if he had to resort to the use of the Imperius curse to convince people to get tested. There wouldn't be a question if they could find a match when and if it came time for Harry to need a transplant, not if Severus had anything to do with it." Aww already the protective Dad, though in a sense, he's been that for a while now.

""Hand me the needle," Severus demanded. Poppy placed a new needle into his hand. "Hold my arm steady and be ready with the collection phials. " LOL, sometimes you gotta do it yourself if you want something to be done right! Reminds me of when I was being tested for Luekemia and the nurse at the blood lab I had to go to get four phiels of blood taken didn't do it right and then later also lost the BLOOD...not the results...but the BLOOD and I had to get six more phiels taken that night at the hospital...I wasn't a happy camper and very close to grabing the needle...anyways...

I loled at this part, "Severus reached over to pull the hood of his hoodie up over his head, extending it over his eyes." Aww, that was cute, Severus playing a bit.

"The wolf was passed out and right in front of the floo, a display considered most uncouth in wizarding society." Naughty Remus! I know he's probably most depressed, lossing a great friend but naughty naughty!

""What?" Mrs. Weasley roared, her face reddening to match her hair." Yikes, I would NOT want to be in Molly's way! Is she mad at Severus, or just really concerned? I know she feels as though she was lied too.

""And they call you a Gryffindor," Severus called after the child, lifting up his glass of water. "If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were a Slytherin."

"The Hat tried to place me there," Harry called back, his amused voice echoing off the stone walls.

"What?" he choked on his water. Harry was almost a Slytherin?" I would have LOVED to have seen that scene, lol...

    Questions:

-why did Harry's scar bleed earlier? (lol, I think I've brought this up before)

-Is the Order meeting really gonna be the next chapter? (hehe hint hint)

-I know the treatments aren't necessarily the same time, but will Harry have to undergo Radioaction in addition to chemo?

-lastly, are you only updating on Thursdays now? I see that's been a pattern of late, and was curious.

Thanks and until next time, later.

-Is Harry ever going to let his friends visit (I know he feels confused and uneasy at the moment and rightly so)?

    -

    Author's Response:

I know what you mean about life being crazy. Has Kohl's started to shift into Holiday gear like Old Navy has? We just started a new logistics process and our shipments have been larger than normal. *sighs*

Minerva is trying her best. I think Harry recognizes that, he just isn't comfortable enough to really speak up about what he needs yet and I'm not really sure he even knows what he needs. I think Harry will forgive Severus, though maybe not right away. Severus is feeling tremendous guilt right now, and I think Harry's forgiveness will be the only thing that'll help.

Yes, he's becoming a protective dad quickly. :)

The nurse lost your blood?! Omg, I'd be so angry.

Remus was very naughty. I imagine seeing one passed out as soon as you get there through the floo would be a horrible display of manners. First impressions mean a lot after all.

I don't think Molly is necessarily mad at Severus. She's a mix of concerned and angry at Dumbledore.

Yay, I'm happy to hear you loved that scene with Harry revealing he was almost a Slytherin.

Ugh, I keep meaning to revisit Harry's bleeding scar but I always forget, probably because it's not a huge deal. Thank you for reminding me yet again. ;)

Yes, the Order meeting really will be in the next chapter. lol.

I have no plans for Harry to undergo radiation (radioaction) in addition to chemo. One, I think that's one treatment wizards/witches would think extremely strange, and also there's a lot more risks and potential long-term side effects with radiation. In leukemia, radiation is mostly used on the spinal cord/brain and Harry will continue to receive intrathecal chemo instead.

As far as updates goes, late, late Wednesday night/Thursday mornings seem to be the new pattern though it's not necessarily my defined choice. The combination of work and class has been kicking my butt from Thursdays to Sundays lately, so I usually don't get to start on the next chapter til Sunday night or Monday. I always try to finish it Wednesday night since Thursdays are rather full with work, Grey's Anatomy, and Project Runway. lol.

Yes, Harry will see his friends soon. I think the first step to that is allowing Molly to visit with him. He is feeling confused, uneasy, and just uncomfortable in his own skin right now, but he's starting to come to terms with his cancer and that's a huge step in "facing the world." Thanks!

I am loving this story! I find that it is VERY well written and I can sort of see where this might be heading. Great job! Let's see...snowcone...hummm...your's sounds great, but I'd love to try a pumpkin flavored one...pumpkin is awesome! :-D P.S....your're my first "favorited," "get updates" one!

    Author's Response:

Thanks so much! I'm happy to hear you have some inklings where I might be headed. It means I've slipped just enough clues in. Oh, and I'm totally happy to be your first favorited and get updates one. =)

As for your snow come, hmm do they make pumpkin flavoring? If so you can have that, but if not it's strawberry and grape for you!

Great story thus far! Sorry I haven't been reviewing as much as I'd like, but my Grandma took a tumble and I've been staying nights with her. I am loving how you are putting all the detail into the story. It's spot on! I've had/have two friends with cancer (one with ALL like Harry and one with a brain tumor) and it's exact in it's description. The girl with ALL is doing well, despite going out of remission a couple of times but my friend/college roommate died a few months after being in remission due to a car accident.....ANYWAYS...um, I am looking forward to the rest of the story, I am hooked! Hum...Bears?...That team's alright, but I prefer the college team, VA TECH with it's Maroon and Orange. Oh and I think if this is up to date, I'm reviewer 200!

    Author's Response:

    You are number 200! Congrats!

I hope your Grandma is doing well. We had my grandparents live with us for about a year a couple of years ago, and I know how that can be. I'm super happy to hear my story is exact in its description. I've tried as hard as I can to keep it accurate, though being in the wizarding world I get to afford myself a little leeway. It's great that the girl with ALL is doing well, and wow that must've been hard to lose a friend/college roommate like that.

Maroon and orange pom-pons for you. ;)

Title: Chapter 21: Changes 02 Oct 2009

Hey there, I loved this chapter! I am glad that you went with a mental attack rather than a vision, the first is hardly seen in stories and the last is seen a lot. It would be expected though to see a vision sometime. :-D It was sweet to see Harry obey Severus's command to "look at his eyes," the child had to have known what was coming but yet, trusted in Snape still. It was welcoming to see that the place in which "little Harry" escaped to in his mind was naturally...a beach, which makes sense since "big Harry" wants to go to a real one. The sandcastle idea was cute too. :-D Hmm...I wonder if "Hitler" found out about Harry's cancer, I hope not, but it's possible. Hopefully, they (and we!) will find out why Harry's scar bled, when it normally does not, but then again, that was the first time an instance like that had happened, correct? It sounds as though Miss Adamson is a bit jealous that Severus is taking care of Harry's scar and not her. Hehe. It's sad, yet touching that even when Severus didn't like Harry, he still in a tremendous way, cared far more than any of the adults who did claim to care for the child. It was refreshing to see that Severus reassured Harry that this new...outward caring for...was not an act. Also it was good knowing that Harry is maturing, wanting to make sure that he won't get addicted to the pain meds, or as I like to call them, the "Happy Meds." It looks as though the new meds for nauseasa aren't going ot work either, poor Harry, but it makes for a more interesting story. LOL, when I write stories (haven't written any HP ones), I like to torture my favorite characters...actually in one of my stories, the main character also has ALL, I started that one almost two years ago...lol...Anyways, I am glad that Snape, though willing to let the subject be for right now, has told Harry that they WOULD have to talk about the Dursley's sometime, a very responsible choice. I am looking forward to the letter's contents, and hope that you can update soon, though I know how work is (I'm having to rush this review because I have to be at Kohl's shortly), we also have winter things in, but where I live it's gone down to 60s-70s now, sometimes lower in the day. I'm enjoying the cooler weather so I won't take you up on the warmer weather, as I wish it would get slightly cooler soon. Thanks anyways. hehe. Er...I've been thinking, has Voldy gotten something to do with the way Dumby's acting, I mean directly, like did he cause the headmaster's reaction or was it purely the headmaster? I'm probably overthinking it through. Oh and Flurry enjoyed her visit, she loved playing in the falling Autumn leaves (can you tell I like Autumn...hehe) and teasing Zac. He liked her though and even played a rousing game of chase with her. Anyways, gotta fly and my Firebolt is calling. Still keeping my wand pointed at Dumby though.

    Author's Response:

I love how you pick up the little things I write. I'm always interested in seeing if people pick up those small things like Severus' command for Harry to look at his eyes and the beach connection. We'll find out why Harry's scar bled. The reason isn't as sinister as you think.

I think Severus that even when he's a jerk has a certain set of morals pertaining to children. He'll be nasty and harsh to them, but child abuse is one of those lines not to be crossed. Whether Harry's childhood involved physical abuse or not remains to be seen, but neglect and verbal abuse can be more harmful than physical abuse.

It's too bad that new anti-emetic isn't working for Harry, isn't it? *excited for more angst* lol. Torturing characters is always fun.

Snape is still watching out for Harry's mental state, so he knows he can't just force Harry to speak about the Dursleys.

Voldemort has nothing to do with the way Dumbledore's acting. That's something I can tell you for sure. lol.

Sev will be featured in the next chapter, and yes it has something to do with the letter. ;) Thanks!
