| Greetings from Virginia! I began reading Harry Potter fanfiction in 2006, and P&S is my favorite site by far! As a writer, I just hope that my readers will enjoy my stories. I always appreciate it when people take the time to leave a review! My hobbies include reading (of course!), quilting, Star Trek (TOS being my fave series), and I've recently begun studying Esperanto online. I love cats, although I no longer have my own. But 26 cats have shared my life since I was a young child, and I have a plethora of wonderful, zany, and sometimes bizarre memories! (During the pandemic, I discovered a wonderful YouTube channel in Turkey--if you are a cat lover, please check out the "walter santi" YouTube channel and prepare to fall head over heels with numerous cats, plus Walter the dog! Santi is the white indoor cat.) Alan Rickman is forever in my heart. 🐢 [Report This]

*sniffles* He tried so hard to be good so his family would love him... Harry's mindset is SO sad. Even Hogwarts and the most indulgent Headmaster in ten centuries can't easily put a smile into the young boy's heart. :-(

Wow! Harry has some POWERFUL magic! I'm not really sure what an erkling is, but it didn't seem to be a great loss when Harry... dealt with it! And Hagrid completely ignored Orion's warning-- tsk tsk! But I loved Fang as a puppy! (Somehow, I'd never thought to envision Fang in puppy form! Probably all ears and tail!)

White magic! And a nearly-depleted core... Oh, I couldn't bear it if Harry inadvertently turned himself into a squib! Anyway, it looks like Snape is slowly changing his opinion of Harry, despite the boy's escapades. Could Snape possibly be "the one" to guard Harry?

First the Dursleys, then McGonagall, now Dumbledore... No wonder Harry has become resigned to rejection-- yet, he still believes he'll be sent back to Privet Drive in the end, probably thinking Snape will be the next one to reject him. Poor kid!

Aww! One tiny nod of approval means the world to Harry! And new clothes to boot! And teddy bear pajamas! Yay! Things are definitely looking up! :-)

"No child should be raised unloved if there was another option." Absolutely! And how cute of Harry to settle down outside the lab doorway to observe the brewing process! Especially unbeknownst to Snape-- the spy gets spied upon! Hee! And now he's made Harry happy again, by promising to teach him to brew when he's bigger-- awwwww! Snape's offered sweets come from the heart, not a bowl of sherbet lemons!

Oh, man... Lucius raises his ugly head, and just as little Harry was becoming more outgoing! I loved the birthday party (doves were totally cool!) and Harry's awe that it was all for him! Well deserved and long overdue. Now, what KIND of pendant did the Malfoys send? Is it dangerous? Can it abduct Harry? Hmm... // After reading the first 14 chapters, I believe one of your greatest strengths is your well-developed characterization-- not just Harry himself, but also all of the adults in his life. What a mixed bag! But you've dealt with them splendidly! I'll look forward to reading future chapters, even if I don't get the chance to review each one from now on. Thanks for a fabulous intro to your storyline! ;-D
Author's Response: Thanks for all of the amazing reviews!

Excellent first story! I found it a fascinating departure from the usual "Snape-being-forced-to-check-on-Harry" stories, since Snape himself is required to assume a "comforting" persona as part of the experiment. I've never heard of this type of experiment, but I can see how it would work out the way it did in Harry's case-- all kids seem to like people to play with them on the floor, and when Harry's been so deprived, it would act as a catalyst for him to seek comfort in the stranger. But Vernon came as a true shock-- I'd thought he was faking at first! You really took me by surprise! Great job overall, and I'll look forward to your future stories! :-)
Author's Response: Thank you Very much, Strange Situation experiments are used to find out attachment type with children and there parents, when i first read about the experiment Severus and Harry jumped into my mind. As for Vernon i wanted to do a different take on the abuse side I am glad that it worked and went ok. Thanks again for your review.

Cool! I literally had to go to the library & look up the painting on the internet to see what Snape and Harry were seeing. The story made so much more sense when I could visualize what you were describing. And the word "uncertainty" in their mutual context is a brilliant interpretation! Also liked your description of Dumbledore's eyes and how they could be interpreted from both sides! Great job, Con! :-)
Author's Response: Aw coming from you shadow, that means a lot! Of course, I don't know what the inspiration was for this particular painting, but it struck a chord with me (and it seems it did for Harry and Severus too haha). I guess everyone feels "uncertain" after they have gone through ordeals such as what Harry and Severus suffered, which somehow links them in a way... I don't know, that's how I interpreted it ;D thanks again for the review, I'm so glad you enjoyed!
Left with partial paralysis after being tortured by Voldemort, Severus is sent to Bell Point, a secure location on the seaside owned by the Order of the Phoenix. However, he is not the only one who will be there, for Harry, refusing to express his emotions regarding Sirius’ death, has unknowingly invoked an ancient kind of magic that will force him to deal with them. Deaged to four years old, he has to contend with a bitter and broken Snape, who, like Harry, is being forced to live in a body that does not work the way it used to. These two vastly different people have beat the odds many times over, and somehow prevailed in a world that has tried time and time again to destroy them. But the challenges they now face are nothing like they’ve ever seen before. Will they rise to the occasion, or become prisoners within themselves?

Wow! What a page-turner! I read the entire story in just two days! I do feel guilty that I neglected to review the earlier chapters, but I couldn't NOT leave without commenting on the story as a whole. I was amazed at how authentic Harry was as a 4-year-old; from coloring, to adopting Buttons, to "swimming" on the kitchen stool, to swinging high enough to grab a leaf -- every action is perfectly believable and wonderfully detailed! And the way little Harry wormed his soul into Severus' heart is exquisite. To see the lightning fort, the boggart rescue, the colored dragon flying across the page, and Severus' condemnation of Great Aunt Isobel's discipline just builds the foundation of their relationship stone by stone. Ultimately, it's as rock solid as Hogwarts. Wonderful, too, that Severus is able to open his heart to Hermione, after her devastating loss. I did mean to ask (and I can't remember which chapter this detail was in) what exactly Harry found (under the sofa?) that upset him so badly that he ran outside and threw it as far as he could. Maybe I missed something, but that had me puzzled. Anyway, splendid story through and through! Thank you so much! 🐢
