About me:

Greetings from Virginia! I began reading Harry Potter fanfiction in 2006, and P&S is my favorite site by far! As a writer, I just hope that my readers will enjoy my stories. I always appreciate it when people take the time to leave a review!

My hobbies include reading (of course!), quilting, Star Trek (TOS being my fave series), and I've recently begun studying Esperanto online.

I love cats, although I no longer have my own. But 26 cats have shared my life since I was a young child, and I have a plethora of wonderful, zany, and sometimes bizarre memories! (During the pandemic, I discovered a wonderful YouTube channel in Turkey--if you are a cat lover, please check out the "walter santi" YouTube channel and prepare to fall head over heels with numerous cats, plus Walter the dog! Santi is the white indoor cat.)

Alan Rickman is forever in my heart. 🐢

How appropriate that this showed up as the Story of the Moment on Halloween! I enjoyed reading it again, and -- of course -- got teary-eyed again. Love Harry's "yup"!

Being an ex-spy makes fatherhood difficult for Severus, and his son Harry knows this. Therefore, Harry has never been surprised that his father has talked so little of what happened during the first Wizarding War, a time when the Ministry of Magic still refused to believe he was acting on Dumbledore’s orders. It is a silence Severus has been able to keep without question, but when Harry discovers an old trunk of his father’s, he finds in it something Severus had never intended to see the light of day - a muggle war medal. No longer can Severus keep his past hidden, and no longer can he shelter his son from the reality of what happens when one war bleeds into another … the truth of where traitors go when Azkaban is full.

I've read a number of action/adventure novels through the years by various authors (ex. Ian Fleming, Alistair MacLean, Colin Forbes, Craig Thomas, Clive Cussler, to name a few faves), and your writing in this chapter describing the battle scenes is certainly on a par with the best in the world. I am absolutely stunned at the sheer realism you've depicted. Wow! Of course, I ended up in tears by the end, but that's okay, too...

Author's Response: The action and realism is that good? Wow, I am speechless. Thank you, so much. I think that just made my year ... ;)

A very moving chapter-- I felt my heart clenching time and time again as I read, especially with Sev thinking of Lily and later meeting Harry. And wow-- the potential for Ben to possibly reappear (I hope?!). Nice!

Author's Response: Hey shadow! Great to hear you enjoyed the chapter! ;)

Beyond awesome! So glad Ben's back! Yay!

Author's Response: Haha, thanks! It is awesome to hear you're happy with Ben's return!

"I wasn't meant to die." -- Excellent grasp of that reality! A friend once commented that nobody dies "before their time", although people often use that phrase to refer to someone whom they believe should have lived longer. I believe each of us has a purpose in life, tho' most of us will never know what it is this side of the Veil, and when we've fulfilled it, well ... maybe we're just living on borrowed time until we "go", whenever and however we go. I've had several extremely close calls, especially while driving; I can only conclude, like Severus, that I wasn't meant to die ... at that time. And when it's "time", we're gonna GO, no ifs, ands, or buts. *sighs* One of life's greatest mysteries, why some go and others don't, and you've explored that idea so thoroughly throughout this story, until Severus figured it out for himself. I enjoyed every bit of your writing, thinking, soul searching. Way to go! (Yes, pun intended! Hope you stick around for a good, long time, Whitetail!) :-)

Author's Response: Hey Shadow! Wow, thank you so much - your interesting, thoughtful review totally made my day. Yeah, I definitely feel you on the not being meant to die part. I've had a close call or two, and my father has narrowly escaped death so many times it's amazing.  A great mystery indeed, and a comforting thought too, I think. When life gets difficult it is nice to be able to think - well, I'm still here, so there must be a reason for that, right? I am glad you felt that I explored the topic well. Even as a young child I remember thinking about the mystery of death - I suppose you cannot avoid it when you have family members who work in healthcare.  That and I've known a couple that have died young, one during the time that I was finishing and posting this story actually, so it definitely influenced the last few chapters which were unwritten at the time. Thanks again for your wise words, and the review. As for me being around for some time - I think I will be! The people here are just so great, and writing is what I love to do more than anything. I only wish I could devote more time to it these days! Oh well, I'll keep at it, as writing is food for the soul, in my opinion. Cheers!

Tender little boys! Hee! Loved this lighthearted Halloween story, rosina! The idea of transforming the dungeons into a "haunted house" was terrific, and the troll scene was the icing on the cake! I can just see the squishy mess... And Snape taking aim! ;-)

    Author's Response:

Whew! Thanks for letting me know that a lighthearted approach was ok. Proper creepy stuff is beyond me, and I wasn't sure if I should submit this or not.

Harry demands an ice-cream. Severus ignores him, wondering how on earth he ended up in this nightmare. Drabble.

Cool prank! I can just imagine Snape's reaction if Harry HAD copied Dudley at his worst! (And for some reason, I now have a terrific urge for ice cream, and there's none in my freezer...)

Snape has kept Lily’s many secrets for years. Having been forced to reveal one for Harry’s safety, the rest look soon to follow. And either Black has found a way to fly, turn invisible and tame dragons, or there is someone else after Harry’s blood too.

Fantastic title for a great opening chapter, full of humor and mystery, too! I love your writing style, btw! Am now wondering, along with Harry, why Petunia said nothing-- did she never know the truth herself, even tho' Lily somehow did? Curiouser and curiouser!

"...robes flailing in his wake..." -- love it! Wonderful departure from the typical billowing! // I really enjoyed the helpful, upbeat mentor, even if he was under orders (& wishing he'd remained Headmaster!). He covered a tremendous amount of information for Harry to consider & gave excellent advice throughout their encounter-- poor Gryffindor's head must be spinning in shock at the Slytherin's change in attitude! Wow! But seriously, this turned out a great read, jam-packed for its length, despite it focusing on dialogue as opposed to spark-filled action between the two main characters! Way to go! (And if you ever had the urge to expand on the story, this would be a great first chapter!) :-)

Author's Response: Thanks for the kind words - glad it turned out ok. I saw your e mail. Sorry! But I'm quite sure you've made better use of 'it' than I have and I'm really looking forward to reading your story....eventually!
