- Whoa... Dumbledore doesn't pull his punches! And yet, he tries to effect a resolution to Snape's problem. Or does he? (You never know what that crafty old wizard has up his roomy sleeves...) I admit I'm curious as to why Snape didn't buy back his watch at some point throughout the years. He might not have been able to afford it early on, but after he began teaching... It obviously means so much to him. And certainly his animosity toward Harry is playing into the situation, too. But to have Snape caught red-handed... I nearly jumped when DD cleared his throat! Keep on! I'm enjoying this story immensely! 😁

- Love the detail of Locker 7! And Snape's motivation -- not just wanting his watch back, but the idea that he doesn't want to die without it, given that it's the only tangible thing left of his mother's love. But Dumbledore is watching... 😳 Really enjoying the suspense!

- Wow! I'm so pleased that you responded to my Challenge! (I wasn't sure that anyone actually would... 😁) I love this opening -- a coming-of-age watch is so personal, I can understand Snape's obsession with getting it back. Now comes the fun part: waiting/watching to see how he goes about doing so! And I'll leave that entirely up to you (*wink*). [My only question right now concerns your 5th Year Defense class: the 1996 fall term and the fact that Harry has already earned an OWL in DADA would indicate that this is actually 6th year, right?] Please keep writing -- am loving the POV you've chosen, letting us inside Snape's head, making it ultra-personal, which works really well for this story. Uncle Vernon’s acting weird, and Snape has designs on making Harry the most obedient student Hogwarts has ever seen. Harry just wants a quiet summer to himself and to earn the money he needs for his school supplies, but he could only hope for something so simple. Entry into the Bingo Card Fic Fest.

- Awesome opening chapter! I was literally holding my breath during parts, wondering what Vernon was up to, and waiting for the other shoe to drop concerning what would happen to Harry with his relatives acting so abnormal! Little Arla's family seems so normal in comparison! On to Ch. 2, where the shoe may finally hit the floor... 😊

- Hmm... Wondering where Hedwig is...and if Snape will allow her to stay with Harry. It's a weird parallel between Vernon and Snape: each is out for himself instead of genuinely wanting to help Harry. Poor Harry is caught in the middle of -- well, not TUG-of-war -- a pushing contest, where each man is trying to push Harry AWAY!!! At least Petunia and Dudley can understand the reality of the situation, so I'm also wondering if that will change their attitude/relationship to Harry.

- Jam-packed with a plethora of details! I felt as if I were right there beside Harry as he struggled to assimilate all the new aspects of his apprenticeship and how they pertained to his position at Hogwarts. And Unbridged to boot... 😳

- Oooh, the book nook is awesome! I could LIVE in there! You might consider having Harry keep his Invisibility Cloak handy, just in case he needs to flee from Umbridge and "hide in plain sight" in that cozy cubbyhole! Looking forward to seeing how Fifth Year plays out with McGonagall acting from behind the scenes against the pink toad, while Harry and friends are on the front lines. Also, how Harry's apprenticeship might alter his ability to deal directly with Umbridge, and the consequences if he can't keep a low profile. (Like, when had he EVER??!) GREAT CHAPTER!
