Final Note 6 - June 2018:

Although it has already been a long time since I have posted or updated anything, it is time to make it official.

I will no longer be writing fanfiction.

I haven't come to this decision because I have run out of ideas or inspiration for my current works - to the contrary, I have put a lot of thought and planning into each of them. Even now, the moments and scenes I had planned live happily in my head. The issue becomes the fact that I have limited free time, so I must choose how to spend it. This is why there have so often been extremely long breaks between updates. In turn, this becomes unfair to readers, as I know that they often have limited free time as well and it is very easy to forget the plot of a story that wasn't born within your own head (and sometimes even then!).

Now, I know many of you would continue to wait for updates. We lovers of fanfiction are tenacious that way. However, since my free time is limited, I have decided that my focus needs to be on my original works.

In that spirit, though a part of me is saddened, I hereby abandon all my current works-in-progress. I will not be updating them again. However, I also open my stories up for adoption, should anyone be interested in continuing them in my stead. (Though, to be clear, I don't honestly think anyone would, but) I ask only that I be credited and that no large portions of my work, incomplete or no, be copied by another (so please link/direct readers back to my work if you continue it).

I've had such a great time in this fandom. Thanks to all who've helped keep the magic alive!

Warm regards,

Dream Painter

Every year it was the same, Severus Snape cleared his face of all emotion, apparated to Privet Drive and visited a little boy whose only desire in the entire world was to have someone that would love him. Halloween Fest Winner 2014

Nooooo! No, no, nonono - why so sad?! D:

Despite the fact that you have made me wanna cry, now, I did rather like this little fic. I love the premise behind it and you've pieced it together very well! I'm definitely awaiting that sequel, however. With trepidation, however; I'm skeptical as to whether that will turn out happy, either! :P

    Nicely writ!

Author's Response: I'm awful, I completely smiled at your horrified review, hahah! :D The Christmas sequel will be laden with angst as well, but the truth will come out, and...well, you'll see. ^_^ Thank you so much for reviewing!

The summer Harry turns eighteen he sleeps alone in a shed at the Burrow. Will he be fit to return to Hogwarts for a seventh year of education? What does a last year at Hogwarts have to offer in the aftermaths of Voldemort’s demise? And how will Harry cope with the Headmaster in office?

Wow! I have finally caught up.

This has been such an enjoyable read, although, I do sometimes wish that Snape and Harry could just get over the rest of their issues and be proper friends, already! I love that Snape is a qualified healer and has worked as one - and I do so adore that Harry is taking to healing, as well! I think he would be well suited to it. The concept of grief swallowers is wonderful, and I do like that it is only really something that can be done by someone well acquainted with grief from youth. Tragic, but fitting.

In regards to the defense, I was very delighted to read it. It was very interesting to read and Hermione did well (of course!).

Anyhow, I suppose I shall now have to await the next chapter. I am most concerned about Ginny and the apparent after-effects of the obbliviation treatment she may be starting to show. Looking forward to seeing how Snape's official trial goes!

    Author's Response:

I’m glad you caught up! I suppose my chapters tend to be longish…

I appreciate and sympathise with your feeling of impatience that Snape and Harry should just stop wrestling with their history and become friends. I assure you that I have felt the same, while writing this story. But I have stopped and told myself sternly that it would not be realistic to proceed too quickly, given that everything happened as in cannon. The abysm of differences that separated them initially must be overcome little by little in this story.

Great update! Good to see that George has found someone to help bring some happiness back into his life. It doesn't really surprise me that Ron's feeling a bit confused about it, but I'm sure he'll come around.

Author's Response: Thanks. I, too, believe Ron will get used to having a brother who is gay - a lot of people seem to be able to process their prejudices, at least to some extent, when they're faced with the fact that someone in their family or immediate acquaintance is homosexual.

Ack, not good! The good Healer's testimony is rather important. Granted, were it not, he wouldn't have been abducted. I hope he'll be all right. :(

Another good update. I look forward to more.

Author's Response: Thank you. The story is going to turn a bit more adventurous towards the end. I'm trying to build up the suspense with Healer Frankiss abduction...

Great update! I really like Harry's way of revising - very unique, and probably more effective for many, I would think.

Ah, but Snape ought to be more optimistic. What am I saying. This is Snape, after all. Things will somehow come round right, though. They have to. At least, I hope they have to in the end!

    Well writ.

Author's Response: You were right, of course! Things did come round (read chapter 42), or someone came round, although Snape seems to find it hard to accept...

The trial at last - and finally, Snape is acquitted. I wonder what else is behind his response to Harry vouching for him. Yes, I'd have expected him to be surprised, even a bit angry that the kid went against his wishes, but it seems there must be more to it than that. I look forward to seeing what that turns out to be.

    Author's Response:

You're right, of course - some explanation is found in the new chapter.

Looking forward to reading your contribution for the Halloween fic fest, by the way :-D Good luck!

Rather convenient timing for Dumbles to be waking up again, indeed. *grumbles about twinkly-eyed interfering fools*

I'm not sure how I feel about this one, tbh. I just don't really buy it, I suppose. Like, maybe I'm just in denial or something, but I feel like if I use a fingernail to scratch at the veneer, as it were, something else will reveal itself...

A good update, in any case, even if current situation has me disgruntled with just about everyone involved.

Author's Response: Thank you for taking your time to write a review even in the middle of disgruntledness :-) Action is a rather difficult genre to write, I think - or it simply does not agree with me, specifically. I needed something drastic to happen in the story, though - a crisis to bring Harry and Snape closer together. It doesn't look like that right now, but bear with it another chapter or two and I hope it will make more sense.

Severus, Remus, Harry and Draco are a family. In truth, they should have been a family all along, and would have been, had it not been for Dumbledore's interference.

Yaaaay! Such an adorable answer to my challenge! I really like how you chose to bring them together in this tale. It does make me sort of sad that they missed so much time, but also really happy that they get the chance to have it all again.

Very nicely done. I was very happy to read this!

Author's Response: I am very happy that you enjoyed reading this, and like how I approached the challenge. I always worry that the person who issued the challenge won't like what I've written. Thank you so much for reading this, and for letting me know that you did like it. :-)

Harry defeated Voldemort, but was nearly destroyed himself when Voldemort's final curse turned him into an embryo. Snape only just managed to save Harry by taking him into his own body - and thus making himself pregnant. Somewhere in the sixth or seventh month, the unborn Harry "wakes up", and realizes who - and where - he is. What fetus!Harry doesn't properly remember is how Snape saved his life, instead resenting the fact that he's going to be stuck inside Snape for a few months. How does their strange 'father-son' relationship develop from there?

A highly enjoyable and humorous tale. Nicely done!

Lockart wipes Harry's memory. Along the way of regaining it, he gets access to a memory his magic had suppressed. Because of it, Harry is desperate not to return to the Dursleys, but Dumbledore won't listen - so Harry has to make his own escape. Come along to the bumpy ride of Harry trying to find what he wished for most in this world. Completed (11 chapters)! Severitus-ish!
