Final Note 6 - June 2018:

Although it has already been a long time since I have posted or updated anything, it is time to make it official.

I will no longer be writing fanfiction.

I haven't come to this decision because I have run out of ideas or inspiration for my current works - to the contrary, I have put a lot of thought and planning into each of them. Even now, the moments and scenes I had planned live happily in my head. The issue becomes the fact that I have limited free time, so I must choose how to spend it. This is why there have so often been extremely long breaks between updates. In turn, this becomes unfair to readers, as I know that they often have limited free time as well and it is very easy to forget the plot of a story that wasn't born within your own head (and sometimes even then!).

Now, I know many of you would continue to wait for updates. We lovers of fanfiction are tenacious that way. However, since my free time is limited, I have decided that my focus needs to be on my original works.

In that spirit, though a part of me is saddened, I hereby abandon all my current works-in-progress. I will not be updating them again. However, I also open my stories up for adoption, should anyone be interested in continuing them in my stead. (Though, to be clear, I don't honestly think anyone would, but) I ask only that I be credited and that no large portions of my work, incomplete or no, be copied by another (so please link/direct readers back to my work if you continue it).

I've had such a great time in this fandom. Thanks to all who've helped keep the magic alive!

Warm regards,

Dream Painter

It was the summer of love . . . er, no, not really. Left waiting for the Dursleys, Harry is found by the last person he'd expect to see. Written for the Summer Fic Fest 2015.

I'm glad Harry remembered the portkey, because I had certainly forgotten about it! Hopefully, they will soon discover why are the owls are being deflected - that could be good.

    Good chapter! Thanks for updating.

Poor Harry. :( His had never been a very easy childhood. The "cloud" at the end, though! :P Very nice touch - love it.

    Great update.

Harry makes a wish on a glow-in-the-dark star sticker that his teacher gave him on his last day of school before summer break.

WAS MRS. ADAMS' A WITCH? *coughs* I mean, like, I can't help but ponder the idea, y'know? Maybe she was witch and created some sort of portkey-like-thing for Harry. Granted, I find it infinitely more likely that we have wish magic or some other phenomenon happening here, but still.

In any case, this was a wonderful and rather sweet first chapter; looking forward to reading the rest!

    Author's Response:

Mrs. Adams might have been a squib. Perhaps. She was one of those teachers who sees and knows and just cares. I like the idea of a portkey-like-thing created for Harry. Something to ponder for a future fic that may or may not be written.

Thank you so much. I wasn't sure how this would all come together, and am glad to hear that it turned into a nice first chapter. :-)

AWWWWWWWWWWW. I like that even MORE. Piecing together different wishes and how it /was/ the teacher who had some part in all this. It makes me sooo happy.

Author's Response: I am glad that you like how this worked out. I think, sometimes, different wishes can come together and make something bigger than they can as individual wishes. I am happy that you are happy. :-D

You say... you say there's no pairing between our guys, but then you do something like have Remus put a hand on Sev's arm and mollify him with a single line and my shipper heart! My shipper heart, DOC, it doesn't believe you!

Totally in love with your portrayal of this little family. It's just so wonderful - even how Severus and Sirius still don't quite get along but somehow do at the same time - absolutely well-portrayed. Bravo.

    Author's Response:

I do ship these guys, but wasn't sure if others would appreciate it, so I leave that up to the reader to interpret.  I am very happy that you caught those little nuances of touch -- for some reason the muse insisted on them, even though I tried hard to keep it gen. I didn't want to be overt with the relationship, though, in my head, it was there.

I was hoping that the characters wouldn't come across as OOC, given who I was gathering together be Harry's new family. I think that Sirius and Severus will always feel a little animosity for each other.

    THANK YOU!

*applauds* Wonderful close, DOC. And such a darling story all around. Only problem is that now I want more of this little family! I love how you have depicted how they interact with one another while still remaining true to who they each are as characters. Very masterfully pieced together - though, I've come to expect such excellent writing from you!

Love it, love it, love it! 10/10!

    Author's Response:

Thank you so much. I am happy that you enjoyed this. :-) I did enjoy writing for this little family, and if the muse is so inclined, I wouldn't mind writing more for them.

Thank you for all of the wonderful feedback. It has made my day, and refreshed me as well.

This is my contribution to the Summer Ficfest. This short story will chronicle Harry's summers from birth to the summer after fourth year (maybe longer not certain).

Poor little Harry. :( How anyone could be so mean to an innocent little child is beyond me. Even if you don't care for children, it just isn't done! Poor little tyke. Poor baby.

Author's Response: Yeah, it is kind of sad... But to call him poor Harry is incorrect. He's a strong child, he doesn't need pity :o

I can only imagine how horrible it must have been for poor Harry, to have had such a delightful escape from his unhappy life only to have it taken from him by his cousin's spitefulness. How very miserable indeed. Poor Harry.

Author's Response: Well, it wasn't like it was unexpected. Harry will adapt. Instead of calling him poor though, you should call him strong. I hate it when people give a pitty party for the boy. He's not fragile or broken. Instead of pitying him we should concentrate on the fact that he survives it all without any real damage. Not that I'm saying his childhood isn't sad, it is, but he'll come out of it stronger.

You know, it is really a wonder that Harry managed to remain as sweet as he did after ten years under the Dursleys' dubious "care."

Finally, something is looking up in Harry's life. Looking forward to future snapshots.

Author's Response: Yes it is, but that's what I love about Harry. He is strong, much stronger than most give him credit for. It's what I always try to point out in my stories. :)

I liked the brief interaction between Harry and Snape at the end of this one. Very nicely done.

Author's Response: Thanks.. Wasn't planned... I did it mostly because Snape needed to show up for the story to be accepted for this site.. Turned out that I actually liked it, having him show up like that.
