This is a response to a challenge. Snape is asked by Dumbledore to help him move the mirror of Erised to a new location, but when Snape looks in the mirror he sees himself, Lily and you guessed it....Harry Potter.

- Nice chapter; I like how you built up Harry's frustration before having the tantrum. However, I think that Harry would be unlikely to insult Snape so vigorously to his face; in his first years, Harry at least tried to be respectful and, after growing up with the Durselys, I expect he learnt how to keep his temper. Personally, I'd have had Harry running into Snape and Ron (who comes from a loving home and has a bad temper) mouthing off. Alternately, you could have a few more things going wrong in Harry's day and restrain Harry's anger to his first *or* second address to Snape.
Nevertheless, I liked the interaction in Snape's study, which felt very believable, as did the conversation between Harry, Ron and Hermione.

- Interesting chapter; I liked Snape's reaction to Harry, which felt very in character, but I'm not sure about whether Harry would react like this at that age- sure, in HBP Harry reacted violently but that was at 15, after he'd seen Snape kill Dumbledore. Also, I'm not certain whether an 11 year old would understand the value of girlfriends; at that age most boys see girls as, at best, allies and, at worst, soppy hinderances (note Ron's exclamation to Hermione in GoF 'hey, you're a girl!') However, Harry's sympathetic reaction to Snape's pain and his guilt and fear were well portrayed

- I really liked Snape's 'punishment to fit the crime' detentions and the softer side to him you've shown by giving Ron a replenishment potion whenever he tires.

- Interesting ending. I liked your portrayal of Snape's internal monologue and Harry's behaviour, which seemed very in character.

When Death is thwarted and doesn't know why, it's never what one would consider a typical thing. The fact that Death isn't all that pleased about being out of the loop doesn't help much either.

- Very interesting premise; poor Draco, the phrase 'frightened the life out of' seems to apply lol (even though it didn't go quite that far). Looking forward to more
Author's Response: Yeah, but then Death realizes that it doesn't take much to scare someone when you're as scary as he is. I'm glad you liked it! :D
As far as Harry knew, it was all some sort of experiment that only Dumbledore could understand. He had no idea that the cat he had been given to keep him company instead of Hedwig over the holidays before his 3rd year, was in fact, his hated Potions Master in disguise.
Because of the Azkaban escapee, Sirius Black, Severus is sent to stay with Harry during the entire summer, never making a sound nor leaving the boy's side. He could not speak, nor could he defend Harry against anyone other than the criminal on the loose, however Severus does something that no other adult in Harry's life had done before...he listened.

Author's Response: Hi! Thanks for reading and reviewing! The characters were a blast to write! I really enjoyed giving Ron an opportunity to take Harry to task for once! And YES-- the corridor atmosphere played into the action in a major way, but I really had fun "creating" Flitwick's chambers, since we never get to see them in canon. Glad you enjoyed the story! :-)
If especially strong-willed, sometimes the dead can interfere with the events of the living. Lily Evans is a very strong-willed woman and is not happy with the course of events in her son's life. She is planning, and slowly building her energy so that she can step in and set things to right.
