Sequel to Days We Learn From. Severus, Harry and Draco are starting to establish their new normal, when day to day life is changed drastically once more thanks to a slight mix up involving a few potion samples. All of this leaves Severus dealing with a new troublemaker, the one he used to be! De-aged to six years old, he's a handful and half to deal with, and his adopted sons, Harry and Draco, will never let him forget it!

Title: Chapter 4: The Past Remembered 12 Feb 2011

How cute was that? I'm definitely hooked! I love little Sev, and it's great to see him playing and enjoying himself, despite his less-than-ideal childhood.
I *love* how he made Harry the dragon (yes, the wizard who caused the scar was definitely "eaten"!), and Hermione the princess! More soon please!
    Sita

Author's Response: I had a little too much fun writing that part, considering I spent majority of my childhood off in another land! Of course, I still spend much of life off in another world ... The wizarding world of course! Glad you liked it and thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I love how Harry's taking care of Sev, like of a younger brother. I was a bit worried there the fish might end up as potion ingredients, but luckily Harry was there to prevent it!
I'd love to see little Sev catching the flu or something and channelling adult Snape's grumpy spirit when he's sick...
Looking forward to more, thanks for sharing!
    Sita

Author's Response: Hmm, I hadn't considered Sev getting sick. But I agree, that would be interesting. Thank you for reviewing, and as for potion ingredients, Sev will share his thoughts of that with you sometime in the future!

Title: Chapter 6: A Competition Involving Laundry 20 Feb 2011

Another fun chapter! Hmm, I think Draco's rather fond of Hermione... he seems like the kind of guy who would tease and annoy any girl he liked.
Sev's pirate adventure was great! I smiled when Minerva "set right to washing his hair" - she probably wanted to break a bad habit before it could set in. Looking forward to the next misadventure :)!

Author's Response: Glad you liked it. Yeah, Draco and Hermione seem to be getting rather close. Thank you so much for reviewing! I really appreciate the feedback,

That was an action-packed chapter! I'm glad Minerva kept her head during the Death Eater scare. Knowing Sev, however, he's not going to forget about being nearly kidnapped in a hurry... I wonder how they're going to explain the attack to him.
I loved his bonding moment with Draco during the lightning storm. Maybe next time Sev plays dragons and wizards Draco gets to participate *hinthint* :)?
Great chapter, looking forward to the next one!

Author's Response: Glad you liked it and thanks a lot for the lengthy review!  And don't worry, Sev and Draco will have plenty more time to have fun, though not necessarily during dragons and wizards ...

Title: Chapter 8: New Hights 01 Mar 2011

I loved this chapter! Little Sev stuck in a tree was so cute and funny, and I love his imagination!
I really like your Draco, he's funny and just a nice guy with some insecurities. I'll admit that Ron's not my favorite character (in canon *and* fanfic), but I liked how you wrote his reaction - it's characteristic of him that he wouldn't accept Draco right away, but that he'd give in once he could see things from Draco's point of view. I'm not too fond of the evil!Ron often found in fanfic, so I thought your characterization was really well done. Please post soon!
    Sita

Author's Response: Thanks a lot for the long review! I'm glad you liked Sev getting stuck in a tree and his imagination. It's rediculously fun to write about his little trips into his imagination. Thanks for the feedback on the argument, I was hoping someone would share their thoughts on it. Thanks so much!

Title: Chapter 9: Fears Unknown 06 Mar 2011

Oh, I feel so sorry for poor Sev once he's reaged - the boys and Hermione won't ever let him forget about "Supersev" (I laughed so hard at that name). And Lily Lane! It's sad, actually, that little Sev is so sure about marrying her, when everyone knows how things turned out later.
I really liked the boggart and Sirius' intervention; I'd love to see more interaction between him and Sev.
    Great chapter, thanks for writing!

Author's Response: Yeah, poor Severus eh? Sirius will show up again, but perhaps not really soon. Anyway, thank you for the review!

Title: Chapter 10: Harry's Evil Professor 11 Mar 2011
Reviewer: Sita Z (Signed)
Sev's letter was hilarious - I can't wait to see adult Snape's reaction when he reads it. Oh, and Harry is going to enjoy himself far too much giving that letter to him!
I like the little subplot with Draco and Hermione... although I have a feeling that Ron might not be too happy about it.
Great chapter, I'm looking forward to more!

Author's Response: Glad you liked it! As for Ron, you may have noticed that when they were at the Burrow Ginny mentioned that Ron had his eye on a girl in the village, so hopefully he won't bet too grumpy about it.

Title: Chapter 11: Runaway 15 Mar 2011
Reviewer: Sita Z (Signed)
I really loved this chapter! Not too angsty, but it showed that Sev's childhood wasn't exactly idyllic, and that he's carrying baggage from it just like Harry is. I also liked that Harry found himself "on the other side", so to speak - he does tend to lash out at people who are trying to help him, and in the books everyone seems to tolerate it, more or less.
I wish the story could go on and on! Do we get another trip into little Sev's imagination before he's re-aged? Looking forward to more!

Author's Response: Glad you liked it. I wanted to show that Severus is a lot like Harry, and even Draco. Especially because adult Severus keeps his protective fortress up, even with those he cares about.  Anyway, I don't have an imagination trip scheduled, but I might be spontaneous! Thank you for the review!

I'm glad little Sev had so much fun on his last day. I really liked your description of the blackberry patch; I could see the scene before me as I read it. Great job! And Sev's "lava adventurers" made me smile.
It's kind of sad to see Sev go, but I'm very much looking forward to the adult Sev's reaction to his various misadventures!
Good luck on your tests next week!
    Sita

Author's Response: The lava adventures thing was actually something my brother and I used to do with tomato soup, so I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for the review!

Seven year old Harry Potter is the proverbial ugly duckling; small, scrawny, scruffy and (thanks to Dudley Dursley) solitary. However, one day Harry discovers, in a lonely clump of weed, this beautiful black swan … Entrant in the 2011 Fic Exchange. Written for Bil.

What a beautiful, poetic tale. I loved your portray of Harry as a young boy, and his "ugly duckling" existence. I particularly liked his initial encounters with Shadow, and the slow, hesitant way in which they formed a friendship.
Beautifully written, thank you for sharing!
    Sita

    Author's Response:

Thanks ^^ When I was attempting to think up a proverb for the next installment of 'When the Boat Comes In', the tale of the 'Ugly Duckling' sprung into my mind. Although it wasn't suitable as a title, it did seem a very good concept for my as yet unwritten fic-fest story; as far as animagus forms go, a black swan was very, very apt for Severus and both Severus' and Harry's early lives were rather similar to that of the duckling in the story/song. I'm glad you liked the slow buildup; I was a bit worried about pace but any swan (let alone a Snape-swan) would need a lot of convincing before he allowed Harry Potter into his heart!
