Third in the series Days We Learn From. In a darkening world where the war looms ahead, things couldn’t be more wrong. A new hand has been dealt out, and now Severus isn’t well, and this he knows. But what is it that is causing the fainting spells, and how long can he keep this a secret from his two adopted sons, Harry and Draco? More importantly, with the Dark Lord still furious over the discovery of Severus as a spy, how long can the little family continue to escape his clutches?

Title: Chapter 4: A Talk With Albus 19 Dec 2011

Great chapter, but you have me worried about Sev! I hope this isn't old Voldie's doing...

I'm glad Sev went to see Dumbledore about his problem, rather than hiding in his rooms and snapping at anyone who dares to disturb him. He seems to have come a long way since he first took Harry and Draco under his wing.

I'm so glad Munk's okay! He needs to take good care of his wizard now...

Looking forward to the next chapter!

Author's Response: Glad you liked it! Yes, Severus has come a long way. Having to boys around will change you, that is for sure, and he's certainly had quite the journey by now. Thanks for reviewing!

Oh no... Severus! I'm afraid to find out what's wrong with him; it'll come as a shock to Harry and Draco, that's for sure.
I loved the humorous moments in this one too, particularly Sev and Lily, the pranksters.
Thank you for the early present, and have a very happy Christmas!

Author's Response: Glad you liked the little snowman episode ... and I hope you have a happy Christmas as well! Thank you for leaving me a present, and reviewing.

Oh no... poor poor Severus. Now that he finally has a family and perhaps even romance on the horizon...

I hope someone can find a solution (maybe Harry can??), but I'm worried about the "Character Death" warning... though that could be Dumbledore...

Anyway, great job with this chapter! It'll be the hardest thing for Severus to tell the boys.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. It is nice to hear your opinions and speculations and whatnot!

Title: Chapter 8: Confessions of an Old Enemy 08 Jan 2012

Oh, I hope the doe's a good omen... that was such a sad chapter (great writing, though!).

I liked Snape and Black's conversation; they weren't being uncharacteristically friendly, but you could still tell that they're no longer enemies.

    Looking forward to more!

Author's Response: Glad you liked it Sita, and thanks for the feedback on the writing; I was wondering whether people were rating the chapter lower because the writing is bad or because they're horrified I'm trying to kill of Severus, so I'm happy to know it's still good. Glad you liked the conversation, and that you can tell they no longer truly hate eachother. I appreciate the feedback greatly, especially here because I was wondering what people would think of the conversation.

Aw, Munk! So that's what you've been doing :)! Well, I'm sure that with a castle full of students and teachers Snape will find people to adopt the kittens (I can see it now, Sev putting up posters saying "Please visit dungeons to adopt a cat" ;)!).
Another great chapter, and I'm impressed with Snape's honesty when Harry asked him about women. He could have just made something up, after all. And I liked that he still talks to Lily.
Will he tell the boys soon?

Author's Response: Thanks so much for the feedback! Giggle ... Snape with kittens. And, yes, he will tell the boys within the next couple of chapters.

I'm not sure that was wise, Draco... he's going to have to live with his House, after all. Still, I'm glad he's standing up to them.

My favorite bit in this chapter was your analysis of the Houses and their respective "revenge psychology" - I thought that was very spot-on, and of course very well written, too.

    Looking forward to more!

Author's Response: I quite agree. I'm super excited that you liked the revenge psychology, as I did spend a lot of time thinking that over! Thanks for the feedback!

Title: Chapter 11: Where the Crystal Ball Breaks 22 Jan 2012

That was so, so sad. I loved your characterizations in this, with Harry's eternal optimism holding out until the last possible moment. I also loved how you described Severus' thoughts and feelings, particularly the bit about normal things like the weather not changing when everything else has changed. That was very well done.
Bring on the fun bits, now :)! And bring on a cure - I'm like Harry, I guess, I won't give up hope.
    Great chapter!

Author's Response: Thank Sita! I'm glad you like Harry and Severus' reactions and such, as I've put a lot of thought into it all. I'm looking forward for the fun bits too, and they're coming down the pipe soon, so keep reading!

Title: Chapter 12: Sticks and Stones 26 Jan 2012

Poor Harry, yes! But I think his reaction shows that deep down, he still hasn't given up hope. I loved the line about not seeing the audience unless the shadow of the curtain is falling - very poetic!

As for Sev... I have a theory as to what might happen, and I *so* hope that I'm right! Your banner gave me the idea, actually, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Lovely chapter, and I'm looking forward to more!

Author's Response: Oh hooray; I'm glad someone liked the stage line, as I rather liked it myself. I must say, I wonder what your theory is! Thank you for reviewing.

Title: Chapter 13: The Quiet Between the Shelves 01 Feb 2012

That was a very original prank; I was so sure at first that Fred and George were behind it! Well, but something good came out of it after all ;). Sev should probably tell Laura what's going on; they're getting closer, and it's only fair.
I'm sure Harry and Draco have a hard time coping with the prospect of losing their father so soon - will Sev talk to them some more about it, and their future?
Great chapter, I'm looking forward to more!

Author's Response: Ah yes, it would have been fun to drag Fred and George back, but alas, they are too busy! ;) Severus will talk a little bit more about the boys' future with them. Thank you for the feedback!

Title: Chapter 14: Sleepwalker 05 Feb 2012

Love it! It was just the right balance of angst and humor, a very enjoyable read!

I love Harry's "moustache" and that Snape made him shave it off - he should tell Harry that the more you shave, the more you grow! And I can just see a young Sev growing a beard to tease Lucius (but then, I can't see Lucius with a moustache... and I think he has enough to do taking care of that silky blond mane of his ;) ).

I also liked Sev's ruminations on Harry's and Draco's childhood and teen years, and his admission that he liked cuddling with the kids. Hehe, first-years coming for a good night story...

As for my theory, I think Sev should concentrate on those lessons with Minerva... am I right??

Thanks for another lovely chapter, Whitetail!

Author's Response: Glad you liked it! I thought the moustache thing was funny too. My thoughts on Lucius are that he never really could grow anything awesome, so that's why he was always clean shaven, and possibly compensated with the crazy long hair. I seriously have some family members that are in their mid forties and still can't really grow much of a beard. Moustache, yeah, beard no. I can just picture Snape growing one to tease someone though, so I'm glad you liked that. Anyways, as for your theory, I'm not going to say anything. I would really love answer your question or give you a hint, as I very much enjoy hearing theories, but I'm horrible at giving hints, as they most often either confuse the hell out of people or lead them right to the conclusion. So ... yeah. Thanks for the review Sita!
