Rather than allowing Harry to stay at Diagon Alley after he blew up Aunt Marge, the Ministry sends Harry back to the Dursleys. Harry returns to school after a terrible summer, to find that he's not the only one with this kind of secret. A student has been killed by his family. New screening measures are put into place by the Ministry: Every student must be given a medical exam and interview to look for child abuse. With Dumbledore facing an inquiry, Snape is entrusted with the task of making sure EVERYONE receives one.

- Well, that's an interesting turn of events. I do hope that Severus and Harry end up making some sort of peace. And he maybe shouldn't have told Lupin. who knows if he'll end up telling? he might if he thought Harry or Sirius (when he's free)should know.

Author's Response: The forms need a witness. Severus might have taken Poppy, but she's still in London. He's counting on Lupin's loyalty to James to keep him quiet.

- poor Harry. You really can't blame him for thinking that way. Too bad Snape can't explain himself more. Still, I hope Snape doesn't let Dumbledore sway his course of action--the same for Sirius, I hope Snape keeps him at bay somewhat, too. I know Sirius loves Harry, but he's not good for him. Good chapter.
