Perception can be everything. After the incident with the Philosopher's Stone and Voldemort, Harry falls into a magical slumber and wakes months later on August 31st as an entirely different boy who is about to begin his first year at Hogwarts. Sorted into Slytherin as someone else, Harry experiences Hogwarts in an entirely new way. He realises that there is more to Slytherin than it appears, and even more to their Head of House as well. Before long, acting as someone else isn't nearly as hard as fighting the need to reverse it, or at least find out what happened to “Harry Potter”.

Sev's advice was nice... I'm only slightly disappointed he didn't mention that he had prior experience with this very same issue of being friends with a Gryffindor when he was a young Slytherin. That would have had Harry thinking... I'm disappointed Harry didn't channel his old Gryffindor trait of courage and talk to Hermione... I'm sure she would have reacted positively. More please... misundersnape...
Author's Response: Haha, yes well despite the fact that it never occured to me for Sev to reveal that (at least, so soon), I do not think Sev would so willingly offer personal details to just anyone. Revealing he had a Gryffindor friend as a child would perhaps also be a poor example, since it hadn't ended very well and yet he couldn't be able to say that Lily was a bad friend. It would then mean admitting to his own mistakes, all of which I do not think he would want to tell anyone, much less a child. Harry's courage took a beating this time, though he may get another chance in the future. He doesn't know how she'd react, so it scares him that she may reject him. Thank you very much for your reviews and comments, it made my day! :D

Wow - dark and odd. But I like it. Severus must have felt so desperate to have done this, and of course his desire for Lily is only part of it. He wants to turn back the clock to alleviate some guilt too. It seems as though Lily might accept him after all as well, but there's much more for her to learn that might change her mind I suspect. Especially as Harry is on the hunt. It's going to be a difficult choice for him to condemn Snape for having done this, as it means he's got his mother back, but this is very wrong, and I'm wondering now if Lily's return would be permanent anyway. One never knows how these Dark spell work. Poor Harry, Poor Severus, Poor Lily... Fantastic job! So unique... misundersnape...

Arrgh... tell the woman she DIED already! Get the shock out of the way. Now I'm wondering at the 'protocol' for such a situation. Is it against wizarding law that you can't ressurect someone, or just that it hadn't been done before, so it was thought impossible? If it's against the law, should they 're-kill' her? Hmm, dilema of the century! Morals versus what's right, versus what's natural and normal. And again - is it going to last anyway? More, this is fabulous! misundersnape...

I expected a much stronger reaction... but perhaps we need to give it time to sink in. At least she knows now though. Can't wait to read what she thinks, etc. So they're going to let him out providing he gets mental help. Any consequences for the 'deed'? misundersnape...

Oh, Severus' distaste of the boy is obvious - lucky he was friends with that healer, otherwise I don't think anyone would have allowed that. Heh, he'd just been interrogated for being a Death Eater, afterall. I assume Harry will grow on him... let's see...

Oh, poor Harry. Tut, tut, Severus... he's barely even putting an effort forth if you believe Harry's pov.
This is a great Sev is Harry's stepfather fic, so much better than the usual 'he loves Harry because he's Lily's' tripe. This is at least interesting... yay for conflict. You can probably tell I'm not a fan of lovey, dovey mush. Great Job!

Aww, this is a bit heartbreaking. I feel bad for all of them. Snape does try, he just has no clue how to break free of the cocoon preventing him from bonding with Harry. Time for that discussion... but I'm not sure a first attempt will go well at all. Great job - I love it!

Harry! He's thowing the effort right back in Severus' face. I'm beginning to see just how this enmity has gone on for so long. No, you silly boy - Severus might not be your friend or 'father-figure' but he's always been your provider and protector... and it seems that job of SEverus' is coming up next if that note is to be believed. FANTASTIC!

Oi... disaster has struck. Heh, I knew Lucius wouldn't be able to supress that 'Mudblood' hatred for long. Severus is foolish for ever believing his little castigation would lead to changes in the elder Malfoy. Great job! misundersnape...

Sev, SEv... don't you know that by merely being 'at' the school that you were tasked with looking out for the boy like a parent. Now Lily is furious that you didn't take it seriously and try harder to get along with him! Good job! misundersnape...
