- Harry was brave to let them change him. Too bad his clothing caused problems. I wonder if either Severus or Minerva would have had any idea how to fix that problem so that Harry wouldn't have been hurt? It sounds like an issue that would hardly ever come up.
Author's Response: I don't know if it's known what part of the animagus (if any) is comprised of their clothes. Maybe the clothes just, I dunno, are held in magical stasis or something. Do clothes become fur/feathers? McGonagall had spectacle markings, but would she still if she transformed without her glasses? Anyway, since it isn't addressed in canon, I'm going to treat it as an unknown and say I don't think they could have done anything to fix it.

- Hahahahaha! 'Survival instinct of a pack of lemmings.' I like that Severus has a hard exterior and a soft center. Harry obviously figured that out long ago. I think Albus did, too.

- I enjoyed the idea of Harry running into Snape in the candy store. Severus probably thought Albus would enjoy Muggle candy for his birthday so it made sense. I especially like that Snape fixed Harry's candy so that Dudley couldn't take it. Nice job.

Thank you! Yes, that was exactly my reasoning for how they met! Albus is the only excuse I found, since I wouldn't usually put 'Severus' and 'candy store' in one sentence. Thank you, I always believed that Severus would be annoyed with Dudley if he had to deal with him.

- I wonder if Albus is still going to try to get Harry to trust another adult more than Snape? Not a good plan at the moment. The little changes from canon sound interesting. I like that Harry, Ron, Draco and Neville all seem to be friends.

- It doesn't sound like Albus has a very good opinion of Severus. He seems surprised, though pleased, that Severus has made an effort to help Harry and get to know him, too. I like the way you are framing the incidents in Dumbledore's point of view from his office. It's an interesting take on the story.
Author's Response:
I would say that Albus has a lot of respect for Snape in a lot of ways, but he's realistic about the fact the man has been nearly completely emotionally shut off for the last decade. I love Snape to death, but let's not pretend he wasn't kind of a huge jerk in canon.
And thanks! Writing it from Dumbledore's POV has been a lot of fun, and a pretty big challenge sometimess. I'm glad you're enjoying it.

- I always enjoy Christmas chapters and this one is no exception. Harry's collection of pictures was nice and with the ones Hagrid finds for him, he will have a sizeable album. After living with the Dursleys, all the people showing that they care for him must make him feel more confident.

- So Albus wants Remus to be Harry's guardian. I had expected him to suggest Severus. Though it sounds like Severus may be with Harry over the summer.

- That was a fun chapter. I enjoyed the bit about the Prank Wars. Discouraging Harry and Neville by telling them about having to scrub the Hall with a toothbrush was funny, too.
