Severus Snape was discovered as a spy mere days before the start of the school year. Thankfully, Albus had been working on a vague contingency plan for this possibility. It had been inspired by the question, “What would it take for Severus Snape to see that he was wrong about Harry Potter?”

The answer? Force Severus to go undercover as Alfonse “Eli” Hopkirk, a sixth year Gryffindor.

    Severus not wanting to be called Al made me laugh. Nice inside joke. And it sounds like Sev needs to write down his backstory details before he forgets them or gets asked more questions. As a new student he is bound to be questioned by the others, especially about life in the U.S.

    I'm not surprised that Voldemort's thoughts follow no logical pattern. After dividing his soul so many times, it must be a mess in there.

    Author's Response: yeah that's pretty much what my thought process was too– that, and the fact that his actions were hardly rational

    Ugh. Poor Snape. It must have been unpleasant to listen to the comments and cheers about 'him' leaving for vacation. At least he managed to keep his cover during the experience.

    I like that Minerva confronted Albus with the budget problems that came out of his grand plan. It was nice that you hit the practical side of the issue. At least Severus will be paid for his trouble. It sounds like Minerva's transformation was as uncomfortable for her as it was for Snape. Yuck.

    Author's Response: yeah i felt bad putting both snape and minnie through that but not bad enough to not include it :D

    Hmm. I wonder when it will dawn on Snape that Harry has been really nice to him? Eli seems determined not to realize that they have become friends.

    Nicely done. I like the way Harry's friends rallied around him. And Eli got a whole new view of Harry Potter.

    I was wondering whether Severus was having trouble dealing with being a teenager again. Interesting that he realized it. Will beating Eli over the head with what a bad teacher he was work? Seems like overkill but only future chapters will tell.

    Author's Response: the individual professors didn't view it as overkill since they were all acting in isolation, yknow :) and im glad you liked snape realizing what was going on with him

    That was a neat lesson. Harry should have gone into teaching. The lesson was fun, imaginative and kept his students focused. Looking forward to Eli's take on it.

    I liked Snape's breakthrough. The idea of the memories and bottles was a nice one. Harry and James' bottles looking the same in his mind made sense. Having to go through each memory, even superfically gave him a clear view of his prejudice.

    Author's Response: im really glad you liked it!! this was one of those things i had a clear vision of for /ages/ before i finally got to write it, so hearing that people liked it is so gratifying :D
