No one on Privet Drive was surprised when the priest came to deliver last rights to the boy, but who was the strange man with the long white beard accompanying him? “Cancer” was what Agnes from Number 2 thought it was. “An eating disorder” was what Mary of Number 3 believed it to be. Whatever the case may be, Harry Potter had been taken to the hospital many times and was seen to only be getting worse.

That was a happy chapter for Julian. Presents and a chance to see the carriages. I had wondered if he would even be able to stand up after being bedridden for so long, much less able to walk to the windows. It was nice of Snape to arrange for him to go outside.
Author's Response: He needed a happy moment. And making an appearance in front of the students was an added benefit. Initially, it felt rather jarring to add (this scene and the Hagrid scene from earlier were originally one scene), but it ended up working better than I could have hoped.
Muscles start to get weaker after only 3 days of bedrest. That was actually one of the first things I learned when I started working in ICU. We (prior to COVID) have physical therapists and occupational therapists who come around and do therapies with our patients while they are on sedation vacation (sedation is turned off so we can better judge if they need to be on ventilators or not). There are protocols for how long a patient needs to sit up every day, what sorts of activities they need to be doing, and what their therapy goals are. All of this to prevent muscle wastage which can lengthen hospital stays. So, one month of laying around and having your body feeding on your muscles for energy will end up with you not being able to stand.

I hadn't realized that Julian would be meeting the staff. He will be really tired after such a long day. Severus will be in for a ton of questions after this.
Author's Response: I vaguely mention this in another chapter, but Severus is going to avoid those questions for as long as physically possible.

Aha, Quirrell is onboard for Harry's first year. I wonder if Harry will be up for classes?

Ugh, acid reflux. I sympathize. At least he has Severus by his side doing what he can to help. That should make things somewhat easier to take.

Thank goodness for house elves. It seems they came through again. Severus' house sounds like it is presentable.

I am enjoying the interactions between Severus and Julian. Snape is unfailingly patient with a very nervous Julian and Julian is beginning to enjoy having a father who care for him.

That was a long day for Julian. He still has so many problems that I wonder if he will be able to attend Hogwarts. Draco must be totally curious about the mysterious, ill Julian at this point. Will he listen to his father's warning?

I enjoyed the description of Hogwarts and the surrounding countryside as well as Dr. Singh's reactions to it. It really set the scene. I found the medical consultation between Pomfrey and Dr. Singh interesting, too.
A certain event over the summer forces Harry to leave his relatives earlier than expected. As he struggles with the loss of Sirius and the knowledge of the prophecy, Harry starts off his sixth year with more on his plate than ever before. Surprisingly, he finds an anchor in none other than his least favourite Potions Professor. As these unlikely allies struggle to let go of the past, someone is out for revenge...

I like how you ended the chapter with Harry returning to his 'summer residence.' He certainly wouldn't think of it as home.

Hmm. I wonder where the other Wealeys are? Mrs. Weasley seems reluctant to have Harry there. Looking forward to finding out why.
