Rather than allowing Harry to stay at Diagon Alley after he blew up Aunt Marge, the Ministry sends Harry back to the Dursleys. Harry returns to school after a terrible summer, to find that he's not the only one with this kind of secret. A student has been killed by his family. New screening measures are put into place by the Ministry: Every student must be given a medical exam and interview to look for child abuse. With Dumbledore facing an inquiry, Snape is entrusted with the task of making sure EVERYONE receives one.

- I am so happy you have posted. I just love this story. You have it right with Harry as it takes a long time to over come the past abuse. Love Sev's explanation of why he will never hit him. Think it is time to leave the Burrow as Harry needs time to think.

- I am so happy you are still posting, I just love this story.
The clever twist was great, how to make Severus his uncle via family relations and cover up the damage that will come when it does come out. I also liked the reason at the end, it made so much sense.

- James as a ghost is a hoot. Loved the discussion he had with his mother. Great conversation airlIners. So good to see Sev think of Harry first. Glad you will be updating.
Two souls contemplate their futures in a world where their lives are not their own. One of them makes a choice for both of them. AU - takes place before the Final Battle, and discounts the existence of horcruxes.

As far as Harry knew, it was all some sort of experiment that only Dumbledore could understand. He had no idea that the cat he had been given to keep him company instead of Hedwig over the holidays before his 3rd year, was in fact, his hated Potions Master in disguise.
Because of the Azkaban escapee, Sirius Black, Severus is sent to stay with Harry during the entire summer, never making a sound nor leaving the boy's side. He could not speak, nor could he defend Harry against anyone other than the criminal on the loose, however Severus does something that no other adult in Harry's life had done before...he listened.

- I like how you have handled this story. Great with Severus starting out with a lot of misconceptions and then with his own eyes, seeing how Harry had to live. The meow hit the spot.
