This was a great chapter. Harry was able to learn quite a bit about his mother without Snape blowing a gasket.

I love the idea of Harry taking initiative and getting away from the Dursley's on his own.
I also love the setting (Greece) for his school. Gah, I just love the entire idea of this story.
Can't wait for more!

Oh good, a new chapter!! I really love the idea for this story.
Also a good thing that Owls won't be able to get through. This way, Harry will have a chance at his new school to get settled and fall in love with it. To not be tempted or stolen away too soon. Harry earned this, he should be able to enjoy it.
LOL, I can't wait to see Snape's reaction to his son's new friend :-)

You double posted chapter two.
Summer fic fest. At one point, early in their life, every wizard needs to submit to surgery. The summer after his first year at Hogwarts, it is the turn of Harry Potter to do so. It’s supposed to be a trifle, but what is ordinary about the Boy-who-lived? Complications will arise. Ghosts from the past will appear and secrets people thought buried for ever are revealed. The question is, in the middle of this ordeal, will Severus Snape at long last find something meaningful to do with his life?
Takes Place: 2nd summer

Snape flavour: Overly-protective Snape

A creative angle for a common childhood illness.

OMG. Petunia is actually certifiable isn't she?
I sincerely hope that Vernon has seen her true character and realize he can't go on like this. What does it make him if he steps back and allows evil to flourish?
Vernon is an abuse victim as well isn't he? Still, he's an adult and doesn't have a lot of excuses.
does petunia actually bring him to a hospital? I cant wait to find out!

I sort of think Harry losing his magic was Petunia's goal all along. If he died, then no matter in her eyes. Gah, if she "wins" I think I'll cry.
Not to laugh, but Snape being out of sorts and ignorant would be funny if it wasn't such a dire circumstance.
I sincerely hope Petunia is punished, legally and harshly for her treatment of Harry. Attempted murder charges could be argued by a half-way decent lawyer I would think. The dehydration alone would support that, let alone refusing medical care. But then again, the entire family participated in depriving Harry of water and medical care. A bit complex isn't it? I can't see the Dursley family remaining free after this in RL.
I look forward to more! Can't wait to see what happens.

DD really did take care of Severus didn't he? Totally on top of everything and involved, day to day. Protected Snape with everything he had. Made sure he was mentally and emotionally healing and safe.
I wonder why he dropped the ball with harry? An innocent baby. I also wonder why, given the evidence of DD's negligence with Harry, Snape's advising Harry to trust DD? I guess from Snape's experience, DD is trustworthy. But from Harry's perspective, I can't quite believe it. He totally abandoned his self claimed responsibility... to an innocent child that can't protect himself. At least Snape was an adult. DD never checked upon him, never guided or taught him about his heritage or the WW, never protected him, nothing. Harry didn't even rate a proper introduction to the WW with minimum amount of information that muggleborns get.
But I am predisposed to be highly critical of DD in every story I read along these lines since he took this responsibility upon himself, he wasn't forced. He has no excuse in my eyes for not giving Harry the same attention as he did Severus, another person he claimed responsibility for. But I promise I'll shut up about my opinion of DD after this. Pinky swear!
Can't wait for more! The suspense of the Ministry's investigation is going to kill me, I just know it! :-) Gah! I have so many questions!
Author's Response: Thanks for the reviews the past chapters! As always, I appreciate your sharp reflections and unforgiving condemnation of wrongs committed in the stories. But you know me from ”Spiral of Trust”, I will inevitably complicate things… Just wait and see… No, I’m not bashing Dumbledore in this story and I’m afraid I don’t explain in detail his exact reasoning behind putting Harry with the Dursleys from the start, except the canon version that they really are Harry’s closest relatives and that Dumbledore thought Harry would suffer from being treated as a celebrity in the wizard world. In my story, however, he did have someone check on Harry, but Petunia fooled them.

Ok, that was a great chapter and an even greater cliffhanger. I'm so incredibly curious about the appearance of Vernon.
You nailed the exhaustion one feels when trying to keep up masks, especially when not knowing how one is supposed to react "normally". Harry's survival in the past was dependent upon knowing the correct reaction to show in any given circumstance. I can only imagine the stress he must feel right now.
I love how perceptive Harry is when reading Mrs Weasley. But there is that survival instinct again.
Author's Response: Thanks! I agree perfectly with your analysis of Harry and that it has to do with survival instincts.
