After a horrible summer, Harry starts his third year and is confronted with Dementors. The green light, the maniac laughter – but there is more. Death Eaters, torture - what happened after Voldemort attacked, before he was placed with his relatives? Harry tries to find out, not knowing that the trauma might break him. Child abuse, rape, Harry&Snape mentor/guardian

It's always bothered me a bit that a one-year-old could remember anything, even a traumatic event. Still, good chapter.
I thought the Boggart wasn't supposed to be able to hurt the students, physically? Or is that another thing Harry is different about?
I suppose I'm more than a little worried about Harry's reactions to certain things.
Where is Luna getting her pot lol? Do wizards have drug dealers too?
Good update! I liked the explanation of why the Boggart was able to physically hurt Harry. I like that Snape isn't all emotional and fluffy. It's tough to read sometimes, like how he felt vindictive that James died and didn't feel sorry about that, but it's certainly in character.
I'm really, really curious if Harry's wariness of Lupin is justified or not. Good chapter!
Author's Response: Well, I'm sure you understand that I won't say anything about this matter;) But I'm very glad that you (and perhaps some other people) picked up on it!
Oh, very excited for the next chapter!
I'm actually rather interested in how you've totally dropped the plot about Lupin in the last couple chapters. There has to be a reason for that!
Of course, seeing interaction between Snape and Harry is its own reward as well. I hope Harry calls for Snape at some point.
"The real Snape." There's a reason I like you. ;)
Dumbledore told Harry that he wanted him to let Slughorn collect him. But Harry soon learns that being collected by Slughorn really means. Will he be able to save himself or will he succumb to the man for the greater good? And what does Severus have to do with it all? Was he too 'collected' by Slughorn and will he be able to save Harry before it's too late?

I never thought about the potential Slughorn had as an abusive teacher. Which is actually strange, because I had a teacher once who reminded me of Slughorn to the point of me calling him that (when we weren't in class) and I felt uncomfortable around him. He never did or said anything specific; just I really didn't like him, and in that way. I'm surprised I never translated it to Slughorn as well. It's setting up brilliantly, and on to the next chapter!
Aw, poor Harry. :( Is Slughorn going to obliviate him? I suspect not, because he didn't obliviate Severus. But Harry's bright, he's going to start putting the pieces together and figure that Snape knows something, and I bet Harry will go to Snape the next day about it. Update soon!
The update was unexpected and appreciated! Thank you! I like how nice the Bloody Baron is being. I hope he can help Harry enough to bring the problem to Snape. Wouldn't someone be worried that Harry didn't go back to the Gryffindor dorms that night, though? Great chapter!
