When he learns about the Dursleys, Dumbledore forces Snape to adopt Harry. Harry is frightened knowing that Snape and his father were rivals in school, but things are even worse than he had imagined. As Harry learns of the real connection between Snape and his father, the line between good and evil starts to blur. What will Harry do when he learns about how the death eaters started and he finds himself sympathizing with them? Will Snape overcome his horrendous past and give Harry love and support as his world view crumbles around him?

- Okay, so I've spent awake till 4 a.m. last night just to read this trough the end and I nearly fainted of fatigue, so I couldn't write a fair review. I mean it has to be special because the story itself is. This is absolutely amazing and it made me go to sleep with smile on my face. Seeing Snape, portrayed exactly as Rowling has portrayed him in the book and then creating a bond with Harry is just priceless. I love how Snape refers to him in certain ways that are so untypical for him.
I only wish you to continue this, friend. It is amazingly well written and I swear I am going to be so pissed if this doesn't go on, because it has a potential! I'm serious. If I had Rowling's mail I'd send this to her instantly! This was the only light in a pure darkness of events that shone in my life lately. Thank you for that gift, really. Thank you and please don't lose your motivation, because I really wish to see where this is going. I wish to see what level their relationship will reach.

I wasn't going to start writing the next chapter for a few days but after reading your review I just had to start immediately. I'm planning for this to be a novel length story so it will take a long time to finish. I know exactly where I want this story to go and I won't stop until the end. I really do hope you'll stay interested, at least for a while longer. I've saved your review and when I get a case of writer's block, I'll read it again and find the strength to carry on. Again, thank you for this review. You say that my story is a gift but your review is an even greater gift. I hope that if you'll read the next chapter, you'll tell me what you think of it. (Criticism is okay, too!) I know what you mean by the bond between Harry and Severus. There are so many great stories on this site and each one of them put a smile on my face. Please tell me Dumbledore is acting all of this. Please, just confirm my suspicions so I could sleep at night in the future - he would never accuse anyone just like that. And Snape MUST get back to Harry soon. He just... has to. Otherwise I'll go INSANE!!
I know it's school going on and everything, and to me it's stressful as well, but... I really need the next chapter right now. I need to know that Dumbledore is acting this, because SOMETHING is telling me he does.
Oh, and... do you think you'll write faster during the summer break?
Author's Response: Sorry to disappoint you, hon, but wrong guess. Dumbledore really believes that Severus cast the curse. He isn’t a fool but he simply can’t trust Snape. There is a reason for this. Something in Dumbledore’s past causes him to look at Severus and see an evil person. (By the way, my Dumbledore has a different backstory to the one in the books.) Normally, he is very wise and all-knowing but he has a blind spot where Severus and James are concerned. And yes, Severus and Harry will meet again very soon. I’m making you loose sleep? That’s a writer’s dream! *rubs hands together and cackles evilly* Oh, I knew there was a reason the hat put me in Slytherin! I’ve already started the next chapter but it’ll probably take another week to finish. Anyway, I’m sure you’ll find lots of other great fanfics while I’m finishing the chapter. This site is truly great and you joined because of my story? That’s so cool! Actually, here in Italy, summer break is the equivalent of exam time. So instead of relaxing sunny beaches, I get stress filled piles of Physics notes. Yay me! - There are many names for you right now, you nasty Slytherin...
First of all, Dum-Dum is crazy. He's one deranged psycho. I hate when I, as a reader, know the truth, but the character stubbornly insists on something else, and in the end realizes what a pussy he has been, which brings me an immense pleasure.
And to make things worse, he thinks he's helping, but in fact makes things ten times worse. You made me hate this Dumbledore of yours, I don't care what happened in the past, he can't bluntly keep convince Snape he's evil, so that he himself would believe in it. Okay, he's not a pleasant person, that's true. He's cold, he shows no emotions whatsoever, but he's NOT. EVIL. Even Rowling said so. >:(
What's he playing at, anyways? To wake James up so he could piss Snape off and further convince him he's "evil"? What's his goal with this?
Also, is Sprout just a mirage or is she really taking Snape to Harry? Will they meet in the next chapter? You promised me they would see each other soon. :/
This chapter was supposed to be called: "How to take a piss out of SkyHighDisco with Dumbledore's appalling behavior!" Now how I'm supposed to study for school, you tell me. >.<

Author's Response: First of all, sorry for the late response. For some reason, this site stopped giving me email alerts for reviews. I was sulking all day, thinking that nobody had reviewed my story! I don’t like my Dumbledore either! If you don’t like him now, you should see what happens later on. You’ll really hate him when he forces Severus to drink the Visionara potion. The effects will be disastrous! Prepare to be extra mega super duper pissed!! ;) Man, I love being nasty! James Potter is being resurrected, not in order to spite Severus, but because he is a great warrior of the light. His contributions to the order where essential in the first war against the dark lord’s forces. That is the only reason why D. is resurrecting him. Still, imagine Severus’s reaction when James comes walking through the door! The relationship between Harry and Severus will be stretched to the very limit! Sprout is definitely not a mirage. Next chapter will have a nice Harry – Snape moment. It will probably take another two weeks to write. Until then, study hard!!!

Author's Response: Oh my God! How the bloody hell did you know that Aryna was going to make a reappearance soon? She won't save everyone but she'll be in the next chapter. Did you consult your inner eye by any chance? You'll have to find out for yourself what the Visionara does. Its effects won't be pleasant. All I can say is that it won't cause any permamnent damage. Ha! You're pissed now? This is barely a minor conflict, something that is designed to get Harry and Severus closer together. I'm barely a third of the way through the story. As the plot moves on, the conflicts will become much more maddening. What do you think will happen when James walks up to Harry and Severus? Major trouble. But that is still a long way off. No! Don't leave! I'll miss your delightful reviews. I'll really happy that you think my story has potential! Sequel to Those Who Grieve. Harry is recovering from the Dursleys' abuse and spends the summer after his fifth year with Severus at Spinner's End. Severus is also recovering from his time as a Death Eater, and Harry is slowly helping him heal.

No, not even I am that cruel to end it in a cliffhanger. I don't anticipate actually killing off either of them in thise story. I think they're too dear to me to do that.
I'll make as many sequels as necessary to help them both. At this point, I think this will be the last story in the series. Unless something totally unexpected happens or people clamour for more.

Author's Response: Yes, I imagine there will be lots of apologies. It seems Harry's style. Not quite sure though, perhaps Harry will leave it alone and let Snape's "not-quite-acceptance" of the apology eat at him.
