Hufflepuff!
After a disastrous fifth-year Potions class with Potter, Severus discovers that Potter is being tortured by Umbridge. With Dumbledore evicted from Hogwarts, there’s little Severus can do to keep his oath to protect Potter. That is, until Severus is given the troubling news that Umbridge has given Potter another detention, thus compelling him to take Potter’s place.

After Dumbledore’s death, Hogwarts has to be evacuated to ensure a proper turnover of the wards. Accordingly, McGonagall announces that everyone must leave for the winter holidays. With Bellatrix still on the loose, Harry has little desire to endanger his friends by going home with them, so he resigns himself to a terrible holiday spent with the Dursleys.
Thankfully for him, Severus has been on the alert ever since he had uncovered bits and pieces of Harry’s childhood. When he discovers where Harry has gone, he immediately sets about putting the situation to rights.

Harry managed to convince someone after his first years, that he could not continue living with his Muggle family. The Headmaster decides that Harry would have the best chances living with his Potion Master, who was not thrilled to have Potter forced upon him so he decides to make the most of the situation and get Potter to earn his keep: renovating old muggle houses.

- I’d be saying, “What?” too. I’ve always wondered why Albus doesn’t send the house elves to clean Spinners End. After all,he’s making Severus take Harry in. I don’t think I’d ask Severus, I’d just have them do it. That way it would be less depressing.
After the events at the Department of Mysteries in June—and all that came after—Harry finds himself once again stranded at Number Four Privet Drive. With only his own thoughts to keep him company, he takes to writing letters to the only person he thinks can help, if only he were still alive to do so.
As it turns out, though, sometimes help can arrive in even the most unexpected of forms too.

- I love this one. You took some time to develop their relationship in a believable way.
