When Harry finds an injured Snape on his doorstep and must hide him from the Dursleys, he has no idea that this very, very bad day will be the start of something good. Harry and Snape are thrown together by annoying relatives, a series of strange dreams, and Voldemort's latest hunt for Harry, but their greatest challenge may well be surviving each other. This will be a long summer unless the two can find a way to work together. A slow-burn enemy-to-mentor story. Alternate 6th summer (and part of the school year): post-OotP; ignores HBP and DH.

This story has long been a favorite but I had given up hope that it would be completed. I’m so happy to be reading new, long, wonderful chapters. Still original and well written. Thanks for picking this story back up again!
Author's Response: Thank you for the review and for sticking with the story! I'm so sorry that I left it unfinished for so long. :( But it gives me such a sense of accomplishment to be finishing it now. Thank you thank you for reading, and I hope you had a good Christmas!!

Thanks for another great and long chapter. I’m enjoying your updates as much as I enjoyed the first half of your story several years ago. Honestly, that doesn’t always happen when people take a break from writing, but your recent chapters continue to be well written and engaging - seamless with the original storyline. Just a really good story and one of my favorites. Thanks for your consistent updates - makes Friday even better!
Author's Response: You're welcome and thank you for an awesome review! It makes me so happy that you think it's seamless. I put a lot of work into reviewing my old chapters and getting in the right mindset before I started the new ones, so it's good to hear that it paid off. :) Happy Friday and I hope you have a great weekend!!

Aaaaggghhhhhh! I actually said out loud “oh no!!” while reading this. Fortunately my family is sleeping. Lol. Another fantastic chapter. Something very creative I never even considered with Ron. I think you should consider quitting your job so you can update daily. Hahaha. Glad you are feeling better. Thanks for another great read.
Author's Response: I'm glad you didn't wake up your family, lol. Oh, I would love to quit my day job so I could write all the time. Wouldn't that be the life! Sigh...I'll be dreaming all week now. ;) Thank you for the review!!

I love this story. I appreciate that you always strike a balance between drama/angst and reconciliation that seems realistic. I feel like this is what it looks like when two emotionally stunted people try to forge a relationship. Lovely chapter. Thanks for updating a bit early even! A happy surprise 🙂

Hello! What a great ending (ish) to a great story! I have truly enjoyed reading your tale and appreciate you completing it. It is well written with a lot of fresh ideas and subplots, and a story arc that was unrushed and satisfying. This is one of my absolute favorites. Thanks for all your hard work. You did it! Yay!
Author's Response: Thank you so much for reviewing! Yes, I did it!! It's such a great feeling! :)

I'm really enjoying your story. Interesting premise and nicely written. Looking foward to the next installment.
Author's Response: Thanks! I hope to have the next chapter ready in a day or two!
“Yeah, I get it,” Harry said raggedly, looking away from Snape’s fierce gaze, “I just… it’s not safe for you to do that. I could hurt you when I’m like this – I have hurt you before.” Snape jerked his head in a dismissive gesture, “Hardly more than a few bruises, Potter. I can’t expect you to recognize me when you are in this sort of state, you don’t even recognize yourself. Occlumancy is the only solution to drawing you out of your suffering. I will not argue with you about it again.” “You could die,” Harry protested quietly, looking up at the man and feeling the edges of the wooden chair press into his thin shoulders and back, “I’m not a child anymore, Snape, I know that this could kill you.” “Then it kills me,” Snape responded flatly.

I appreciate the idea of there being some aftereffect of the horcrux. Would be great if you expanded or wrote a sequel. This was a really interesting start
Author's Response: thank you! I really love the idea of continuing the idea in someway. probably in a different fic altogether. :)
