- I hope that Harry is able to keep at least most of the mobility in his scarred hand. That's just... I hope that when they get to Umbitch, they're able to give back all that she deserves. If Harry isn't able to deal with seeing those particular scars, it might be time to introduce him to a new accessory. Maybe some custom near-elbow length quidditch gloves? Something he can wear casually without drawing too much attention to the fact that he's covering his arm/hand. But that's all on what Harry wants to do in the future. It might be, his nerves are damaged enough that he'll have to wear a brace that covers them anyway.

- Well, there's that ready-made excuse for detention with Snape, if he manages to roll out of bed at all. Though I wouldn't blame him if he just stayed there for the rest of the afternoon. That was indeed a cruel trick to rope Harry into. Though I'm surprised that Hermione wasn't called out either. I would have thought that she would know just about as much about the patronus charm as Harry, even if she didn't practice it herself. She's studious and curious like that. Still, hopefully Ron and/or Hermione will be able to tell Snape Harry's 'excuses' and maybe they can get him out of the Toad's grasp for the night.

- First thing, I think a blood replenisher wouldn't go amiss, then they should go from there. This was most definitely NOT the sleepover that they had in mind. Still, the bonds between them are impressively strong.

- I guess it would be safer for her if she was dead to the world, wouldn't she? And how she was attacked, it's not like she can exactly resume her previous post once she heals as much as she can, given the circumstances. That gets Remus in a 'safe' place as well, away from the general populous, but still easy to contact. And Snuffles can easily be hand waved away as dogsitting for an old friend if anyone dares to ask. The chess pieces may be jostled about a bit, but they're still in good positions to attack and defend when needed.

- At least Harry was caught after the Toad's detention. I just hope that it doesn't leave permanent scars and word gets back to Severus in a timely manner. Sure, detention in the first week is bad, but I hope that he lets Harry state his side first.

- This is one of the times where the Twins Point of Pride for pushing the teachers as far as they can get away with backfired. Then again, Umbridge really didn't see the need for much excuse for punishing those that brought her ire. I really do think that a physical inspection of -all- the students' hands would be the best way to get through it. Because once punished, children will always try their hardest to avoid any further perceived pain. Even when speaking up will actually bring the opposite.

- In this case, it would almost be allowed for Dumbledore to not say 'other student', but 'Harry'. Especially since he's really more of a 'raised by the village' child instead of having a single set of parents. (Though, I'm happy that that's not so much a solid fact anymore. Severus is doing very well (if reluctantly) at stepping up to the plate.)

- Unfortunately, I don't think Harry will ever be in the same weight class as his agemates. He just didn't get what his body needed when it was most important. He'll be able to get close, but he'll always be small.
Oh, Lucius was a surprise. And not a good one as well. I hope he lasts the night. Even so, adoption is such a big thing, even when Severus is already the godparent and he still has the one living parent. It closes that gap and changes relationships in an already rocky time in their family unit.

- I've seen it around, but I have no clue how effective it is, but it might be something to try between the boys. a 'Get along' shirt. A Hagrid-sized shirt that they both have to wear at the same time. Or, y'know, there's always tying their wrists together to make them actually interact with each other beyond antagonizing each other. I think, at the least, they need to be forced to interact with each other (Supervised!) outside of meals. Yes, they don't get along, but maybe a common goal is needed that they can't achieve without working together.
