Snape, of course, would no sooner let them play games in class than adopt Harry -GoF pg 342. Harry never expected to be adopted—especially not by Snape. Harry hates his new father, and the feeling is mutual. But to the outside world, they have to pretend otherwise, or Harry could end up in very deep trouble. Is anyone that good at acting? ~In memory of one of the greatest actors of our time~

While the acting is good, I can see some truths coming out that were not meant to see the light of day. Even Harry's little mention of never actually being to London barring getting his school supplies- especially since Surrey is actually a county that borders London itself- seems just on that edge of being fishy. The acting on both their parts is good, but when it actually stops being acting will be great. As they say 'Fake it until you Make it.'

Severus may have thought it obvious, but there is just so much of a communication gap between the two of them that his 'present' of visiting her friend's family was lost in the void. Still, a card or a note even would have been welcome. At least otherwise, she's having fun at the Grangers.

The fun part about being a girl, is that you can wear practically any length without many people kicking up a fuss. Victoria should at least try growing her hair out and if she doesn't like it, it's very easy to get it cut and styled how she would like it. Now that she doesn't have to deal with Petunia's hack/shave jobs.
Author's Response: Perhaps she might but of course it takes time :)

Good. Something broke between the two of them, so now they can start healing and actually -learning- about each other. Oh, it was painful to watch those two interact for the longest time. I'm glad that Victoria is able to still visit Hermione. I think the three days away from each other will give Severus the time to figure out what he actually needs to do, not what he's been doing.

I know it's morally ambiguous, but why not just use Occlumency on the girl? It would answer a lot of questions Snape has... emotionally hurt her (a good thing in his mind) and stop all this blatant lying that she apparently needs to be cured of. Then again, he'll only be looking for things that he wants to see, so that could blind him to a LOT of details. Oh well, it's not like Harry hasn't been trying her best the entire time anyway, so she's used to this. Though, she's going to have some new nightmares from this encounter.

Gryffindor she may be in name, but Slytherin she is in many an action. That's how she survived with the Dursleys for so long, is it not? Keep up the good work, Dark

It got to the point that there was literally nothing that Harry could do that would glean approval in Severus' eyes. Something definitely needs to change, and hopefully this time with confidants will help both of them. (I can't wait to see how Harry and the Grangers will interact!) If even Harry's new Given Name pulls that kind of reaction from her, it's time that something needs to change/bend before it breaks permanently.

Well, of course she doesn't have any opinions! You all but growl at her if she so much as opens her mouth! And these 'rules', she has no clue what's actually expected of her, and she has no desire to deal with just a different style of venom that she's had to deal with all her life. Staying in her room's good. It's safe. Even if that's an illusion. Conversation is not a one-way street.

I'd normally say that a little misdirection was worth it in this instance because it's Hermione... but It's Snape. He of She-can-do-no-right currently. There is only so much pushing on a brick wall before giving in and just going around/over it, despite what said brick wall says/does.

Well... at least there was actual back-and-forth this time around. Taking the name Evans... I like the idea. It's about the most neutral choice that she currently has. Yes, it's connected to her mother's family, but it doesn't leave the sour taste that 'Dursley' does. As for first names, since using Harriet as a middle name is a good idea, that really frees up what she can do with her first. It really would be good to get some suggestions. I'd actually like to see what Severus would come up with. Heck, she could call herself 'Sunshine' and, really, it's up to her. (Though I do think that 'Sunshine' would get a strong no from practically everyone else) There's nothing against going by her middle name in everyday life. She'd only have to deal with it in more formal situations. I think Severus would suggest names in latin, like his own. ...What is the Latin word for Sunshine anyway? Then just add an 'a' at the end and boom, feminine name.
