Harry has always wished for someone to care, for a family of his own. On his birthday, he finds out that a certain Potions Master is his father, but Severus has finally settled into life with his other son. Can Harry finally have the family he has longed for, or will he always be the unwanted one?

Title: Chapter 9: The Unmasked Truth 16 Apr 2016

I think at this point, doing whatever he can to erase their past and starting over with open eyes may be a good place to start. True, there are things that both have said and done that can't be taken back, but more than just physical injuries can be healed now. I don't often recommend it, but I do believe some retail therapy is needed... or at least something that isn't Dudley's castoffs. And maybe... letting Harry pick and decorate his own room. Letting him make decisions that he's never been allowed or even asked before. I think he'll stay in the room he's been given (for now), but at least he would have a choice. The other boy, on the other hand, I see a lot of backsliding on fragile relationships if he isn't reigned in and soon. It's heartless, but I think it would be better for him to be sent back to his mother for a week... or the rest of the summer! That kid, he's the type to be given an inch and go a mile. Any equality between him and Harry, even the slightest hint that the boy's not the center of the universe, and I can see him taking it as an assault on his personage. Then again, if the kid is punished (as he rightly should!), it'll upset Harry. He's never seen others punished for his sake before, he's never been the one championed, always the champion. If the kid is punished, I can see ways of Harry 'helping' by pretty much volunteering to take the punishment in the kid's place. It'll be a frustrating thing, trying to get Harry to do anything 'fun' or 'for himself'. He doesn't think he deserves it. Flying may be Harry's greatest joy, but if he even thinks that it's taking away from the kid, he'll refuse on principle alone.

Oh, I hope that they're able to come up with some sort of agreement before the new school year begins, or things might get nasty between him and Harry. I'm proud to see that Harry showed such restraint when they were cleaning up the library. Though, I don't think that an eavesdropping spell would have been remiss to catch what the boys were saying. (I would not be surprised in the least if that was one of the 'Standard Teacher's Spells') I foresee this trip to Diagon Alley being a LONG one for all three of them. But, I hope that Severus is able to stick it out without wanting to strangle one or the other boy. One because I see whinging within the first hour, the other constantly trying to become a mouse and put away things that are not 100% a 'need' item... then again, if the boy's not going to be whinging, he's going to be snatching just as much, if not more, than Harry's going to try to put back. To limit one without putting out the other... that'll be 'Fun'!

Wouldn't it be nice for Harry to see some familiar -friendly- faces in Diagon?

Author's Response: First let me just say that I love your long reviews. I love reading your opinions and your predictions to what is going to happen. The trip to Diagon Alley is going to be interesting and (hint hint) it's not just going to be the three of them. It would be nice for Harry to see some friendly familiar faces after the summer he's been through so far. We'll just see what happens next! :)

Title: Chapter 13: The Curse 04 Jul 2016

=_= Why are those two still there? I would think that they would be fair-weather family and Clarice would have taken her son home after an attack like that.

Ugh, either way, I don't care. Harry's definitely the priority here. Nightmare curse Vs. a measly calming draught. I want to say that the curse will run its course eventually and that if Harry survived them the first time around, he'll be able to the second time. But with this curse, it's compounding all his injuries instead of letting him heal between each one. Well, if he does survive this in one piece (and I also hope it just runs the course once, and doesn't loop back to the beginning until something breaks permanently), Poppy will have a first-hand account of Harry's past medical record.

I've just been thinking about things in general lately and I've come to the conclusion that while most kids show accidental magic by summoning a toy and such, the vast majority of Harry's accidental magic was self-healing, with the very, very odd occurance of an external incident (The blue hair, apparating to the roof of the school...). With how powerful Harry is, it's this accidental magic that's kept him alive this entire time.

Author's Response: Yeah I agree that without Harry's accidental magic helping to heal him, he probably wouldn't have survived those times with the Dursleys. With this curse though, they're happening one after the other so there really isn't any time for his magic to heal him. That's why Poppy and Severus are going to have to keep healing him as the injuries appear while he's under the curse.

I don't plan on keeping him under the curse for too long, especially not long enough for the curse to restart from the beginning. I think Dumbledore would be able to figure out the counter curse before it gets to that point.

It's definitely going to be a difficult road ahead for Harry though.

    Thanks for reviewing!

Welp, that's the last we see of Clarice in even a remotely positive light. Now we know where the boy got his opinion from. At least the boy was distracted by his mother the majority of the trip, so that Severus could take care of Harry (as much as Harry would allow). Oh, I hope that he used those spy skills and bought the book that Harry was looking through. It's the first bit of actual independant personality/opinion that he's actually shown. Ah, I know what it feels like, being pushed to the back of the group like that. It may not be intentional (on Severus' part, at least), but things like that happen. Still, at trip to London? Even if it's just a Harry-Severus thing, it could be a lot of teeth-pulling at this point, trying to get Harry to surrender an actual opinion. Like the clothing: not a single peep out of him. Heck, there could be a hot pink t-shirt with the words 'Snakes are where it's at' in glitter and Harry would say nothing about it. Sure, the thing might not ever leave the bottom of his drawer, but Harry wouldn't say anything about it. I just hope that Severus is able to find/save Harry before the Polyjuice wears off... Or, maybe, the simplest disguises are the best...? *hopeful cringe*

Author's Response: Well it's basically due to Harry being used to getting little and is just grateful for anything really. He doesn't want to be of any trouble. I think once he gets around the idea that he isn't a burden, he'll open up more. It's a slow process that Severus will have to work through. If they were going to take a trip to London, it will be a while before they do. Hmm you'll have to wait and see if Severus gets to Harry in time.

Well, whatever that spell is, it's purely physical. Or at least complicated enough that a general scan can't pick it up. Snape stating that Harry is his son to someone not in the family? Good, very good thing. A sign of progress, that.
Welp, at least the boy and his mother are still as anonymous as ever, thus not a target.
When Harry wakes up (He WILL wake up!), I can possibly see some scared/relieved yelling of 'NEVER do something as STUPID and RECKLESS AGAIN!' He just can't catch a break, can he? Not even in the summertime. I just hope that he wakes up and is healed soon. But knowing Tom as we all do, that was no simple spell. I've learned that purple is never good when it comes to spells. For some reason, they're always the nastiest ones.

And the Dursley's 'training' strikes again. At least Harry's starting to think to tell Severus, even if he doesn't yet have the courage to actually go through with it. It's nice to see Harry learning to take solace in potions like his father does. I have no doubt that once Brat manages to wheedle his way into his own lessons, things will... become an accurate reflection of the classroom. On one hand, it will be fair to have -him- in the lab when Harry is finally allowed back onto the broom, but on the other hand, this is their bonding time. It's the time that Severus has with Harry that has to impact or influence from outside sources. Harry better keep a good eye on his broom when he's finally allowed to fly. Or there might be an incident that might require appropriating a new one.

Now, for the important question, did Severus give permission for his memories to be wiped or did it happen against his will. And I find that usually 99% of the time is has to do with Dumbledore’s manipulations. At least there will be no flying cockroaches this time?

Everyone knows that the wand chooses the wizard but fewer are aware that familiars can choose their wizard as well. How will Severus Snape react when he is chosen by a bird of an unusual breed?

Title: Chapter 4: Lessons in Potions 04 Apr 2016
Reviewer: Dark Inu Fan (Signed)
With not much else to do, and with the mind of a...8-year-old at this point(?), it's not surprising that Harry/Erebus took to memorizing the potions that he's seen so many times by now. It's amazing how boredom can contribute to learning at times. Still, I'm almost afraid to see what will happen when Severus finally makes the connection between the son of his personal hell and the parrot that changed his life. I just hope that their relationship will be maintained and not be broken by this 'secret'. Keep up the good work, dark

Author's Response: Even only giving half an ear to the lectures, you'd figure that two years worth of every single potions class taught at Hogwarts would make some impression. At least enough to spot a first year mistake. And close on the age. According to my timeline Erebus was 6 at the start of this chapter and 7 at the end.

And thus, they have seen the light. Now, the question is: do they force a transformation back to human, coax him into one, or leave him the choice. I've heard somewhere that after the first successful transformation, the animagus form is easier to slip into and out of. But does Erebus want to become Harry again? At least being a parrot, Harry can voice his opinion (if he cares to have one) through Erebus' voice. Yes, I do consider them separate, like I consider Padfoot and Sirius separate, and Moony and Remus separate (Wormtail is wormtail, though).
All this time, looking for the boy, and he was (literally) right under their noses practically the entire time. At least, if they want, they can maintain the charade for the time being. Though after Harry needs to come to Hogwarts officially, things might have to change a bit. Now... to tell 'Dunderhead Dumbledore' or not...? (Heh, no matter what, Harry/Erebus will always be the Potion Master's Brat)

Author's Response: They are definitely different. Exactly how I intend to explain a bit in the next chapter or two. It should answer a few questions about his behavior, I hope. Dunderhead Dumbledore the Hufflepuff (at least according to Erebus) will need to be told something. Exactly what you'll have to wait to find out.

So far, I cannot judge Dumbledore, for he has not actively done anything to sway me from one end of the spectrum or the other. (And believe me when I say that I've seen some spectacular Evil!Dumbledore examples. Then again, there are a lot of things in Canon that took me years to pick up on and realize that things were not being copacetic. But, in the end, he's human. I have no doubt that he'll have a moment of Genuine Reaction when he finds out what has Really Happened under his nose this entire time. I just hope that Dumbledore KEEPS his word when he finds out.

Author's Response: Human. I hope that you still think he's human at the end, because that's what I want all my characters to be. Not perfectly good or perfectly evil, but human. :D
