Reviews For Alea Iacta Est
I hope that Harry comes around and realises how much Snape cares about him and really didn't want to give him up as a baby. I'm glad though that Snape has stuck around for Harry. One question: Does Snape know how the Dursleys treated him--I can't remember. Oh, and how abusive were the Dursleys too Harry. Harry was thinking that he was used to pain, so they must have hit him, right? Or at least Dudley did. I hope that Snape kicks their asses!! I can't wait till your next update! Author's Response: Thanks, Pandora! I've been in a bit of a writing rut lately, so I'm probably just as happy that I updated that you were! Through the next bit of the story, we'll see Severus and Harry working to accept their new familial relationship, and we'll see how it changes both of them. To answer your question, Severus knows a bit of the Dursleys treated Harry, but not all. He caught a few glimpses in their Occlumency lessons, and he wants to know the entire truth, but also knows that it isn't the time to push Harry into talking yet. I'm still on the fence to if the Dursleys physically abused Harry or if it was all emotional abuse and neglect. Harry hasn't revealed it even to me yet, so we'll have to wait and see how it plays out.
Great chapter! Author's Response: Harry's problems always seem to somehow involve Voldemort, don't they? Too bad Sev's wishes for Dumbledore and Voldemort won't come true. It would certainly help Harry out. We'll see how Voldemort's interference may change Harry's treatments in the next chapter. Harry going to Severus was the first time to fixing their relationship, so hopefully Harry will come to accept Severus soon. Thanks!
Author's Response: Thanks! Things will start looking up for them soon.
Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad to hear you picked up on Harry's confusion. His subconscious hasn't stopped depending on Severus, but obviously Harry is a little mad at him at the moment. I think he'll start to slowly trust Severus again soon. Going to Severus when he was in pain, no matter how desperate he was, was the first step to that.
Author's Response: *Hands you a bouquet of daisies with a bunch of sunshine* Hold on a bit longer. Things are going to get better soon, but I needed to create a situation for Harry to reach out towards Severus to function as a new start to their relationship, where Harry will learn to accept Severus as his father. Thanks!
Author's Response: Thanks! I wanted Harry's pain to reach the level that he sought Severus out instead of Severus going to him. Harry needed to give a little, and hopefully his desperation will start to pave the way for their new relationship once Harry realizes that going to Severus actually helped.
But I feel that Molly will be fine with a little time, and I think she's a good choice to watch over Harry while Severus is away. Poor Harry, he really is having a rough time now. I hope things will get better for him soon. Author's Response: You're right about Molly. She was feeling overwhelmed, but she has her motherly instincts to fall back on. She has tons of experience in that, and I think that'll come in handy with helping Ron and even Hermione cope with having a very ill best friend. Harry's having a very rough time and it'll get worse before it gets better, but once he gets past that first week of chemo things will get better. Thanks!
But then again, Snape DID give Harry a bombshell, telling him that he was his father, and it would be a very confusing situation...but still! I wish Harry could just open up a little and realize that Snape IS trying, and trying very hard. But yay people being mad a Dumbledore! XD I think Albus needs a little reality check, and realize what he did was wrong. But at least he SEEMS to be sorry...I hope he really means it and it's not just because he got caught. Sorry this was WAY too long of time to read, but things have been REALLY busy for me lately. I hardly have time to write! which upsets me greatly. But I REALLY enjoyed this chapter! It was wonderful, as always! I'm looking forward for the next! :D Author's Response: Harry's mad at Severus, and that's the heart of the reason he didn't tell him. It's foolish, and of course makes it worse for himself, but Harry feel betrayed and like he doesn't have anyone again. It'll take some time for Harry to trust Severus again. They definitely need to have a heart to heart conversation, but I don't think that's possible at the moment with Voldemort's little attack. They need to realize how stubborn and alike they are. Albus is a funny character. He hasn't revealed to me yet if he's starting to get it or is just mad his plan is ruined. I guess we'll see how it plays out. Hang in there, Ivy. I totally understand that you're been super busy. Just remember that there's only about a month left in the semester, then summer break! Thanks!
Of course Severus is going to feel horribly guilty, the poor man. What a tough situation he was in way back then, though. He truly thought he was doing what was best for Harry, but now to know that it wasn't, that Harry suffered because of his decision is going to haunt him. And Severus is very brave to face Molly's wrath, lol! I can't wait for him to tell Harry about their relationship! Author's Response: Thanks! Harry isn't up for doing his best with school work at the moment, but in some ways it's good for him. He's used to studying with his teachers and while he might not feel up to it, studying and learning is normal to him and between everything going on he needs some normalcy in his life. If Sev didn't have enough guilt to carry, he now has this. We'll be exploring how this affects both Severus and Harry and their feelings surrounding that one choice. And yes, Sev is very brave to face Molly's wrath. lol. ;)
Lily's letter explains so much and I feel so badly for both Severus and Harry, to have lost all those years together and for Harry to have had to grow up with the Dursleys. I am so glad that Severus has figured out the truth now though. Hopefully they can begin to make up for lost time. Lovely chapter! Author's Response: This was one of my favorite chapters so I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it. The presumptuous grandmother was really fun to play with and Lily's letter was one of those things that almost wrote itself. I honestly didn't plan for it to be that long, but it just kept coming. It's sad they lost so many years together. They'll never be able to get those back, but hopefully they have some happy memories coming in the future. Thanks! |
