Fraud! by Alexannah
Summary: Lots of people break the rules to get the job of their dreams--faked CVs, lies in interviews. Now just suppose Trelawney was one of them ...

When she had her interview, Dumbledore told her she wasn't what he was looking for. He was leaving. She knew once he walked out the door, her dream of working at Hogwarts would die.

So she faked the prophecy.

I'm thinking a fic exploring Harry and Snape's reactions to this information. Both would of course be devastated--and probably livid--to know that the prophecy was completely false, possible even made up on the spot (or maybe planned in advance as a backup plan?) The irony obviously being that Voldemort's treating the fake prophecy as real made it come true.

No slash, no character bashing (except Trelawney if you want, I think the plot calls for a bit of it at least). How Snape and Harry's relationship goes is completely open as is canon setting. I'm just interested to see this combo of characters, really ...
