Reviews For Blood Magic
I hope that he'll be able to patch things up with Hermione.
Draco is very suspicious over Harry's changing appearance, and Harry's explanation can have grave ramifications too. I'm worried about Fudge's visit too. Poor Harry. His life just gets more complicated.
Ooh, this is getting so exciting. Author's Response: Thanks! Draco is to clever (and suspicious!) to not notice something.
In some stories, the author manages to portray Snape as a Dad type, but it depends on the circumstances. To me, Harry would have a difficult time calling someone other than James "Dad" and Snape is very hard to imagine as the "Dad" type, unless his character is drastically changed, or there is a different background history. Anyway, I love how Harry manipulated Ron just there; very Slytherin.
I hope eventually, that Ron will come to accept Snape and Harry's relationship and give the man the benefit of the doubt. Oh Hermione!! How could she put herself in such danger. Not a very smart move for such a smart girl.
Author's Response: Hm ... do you think that would be a bad idea? ;-)
Author's Response: Well, Severus has never considered himself a social success! But yes, he's been thrown in on the deep end. :-) In a lot of ways, teens are easier than toddlers, though, and he's at least familiar with them.
Author's Response: Hm. It's hard to say. Glancing through that chapter, I think he's reasonable for sixteen, but yeah, he could easily also be as old as nineteen. I know a lot of teenagers, at the moment, and at sixteen, there's a lot of variation in a whole bunch of ways. Somewhere between fourteen and seventeen seems to be where kids start getting introspective, and thinking a lot about both appearances and ethics, and discussing some pretty deep concepts with each other. Once that starts, it continues for a few years. At least, that's how I remember high school, and my daughter's friends seem to be similar. It's the time you worry about what it all means, and where you fit, and if you want to. Going back to when I was writing this, I expected Harry to have that jump in maturity of thought -- although possibly more problems in behavior -- after losing Sirius. In any case, I'm glad you're enjoying it!
Oh, what tangled web we weave. What has Snape gotten them into? This is getting interesting.
I loved all their reactions. I do have a question, that I've been wondering for a long time. Why was Mrs. Weasley smiling when Severus was scolding Harry about the cigarettes, and handing him a detention, was it because she thought that even though Snape was reprimanding Harry, Harry not only called him father, but they were comfortable with each other, and Snape was concerned about Harry's health. Anyway great chappie, and I really enjoyed seeing everyone's reaction. Author's Response: Yes, exactly. She had just watched them have a parent/child interaction that was apparently a continuation of something earlier, and while there was argument, there was no contention about those roles. Harry didn't question his father's authority -- in fact, he eventually apologizes, apparently for not behaving as he had promised -- and Severus didn't turn to Dumbledore and try to make this a school issue, although he probably could have after what Fred said. This is where Mrs. Weasly believes that this isn't Severus maneuvering for status (after having maneuvered for sex). Bill is likewise thinking "oh no -- one of those conversations! Well, doesn't look like it's the first time...." |
