Please, Please update this story! It is too good to be left unfinished
Such a fantastic, haunting story. The smooth silence of Severus' little bubble, the imagery, it all sets the scene so perfectly and really draws me in. I eagerly await your next chapter. Please, for the sanity of innocent readers, update soon?

Wow, i cried reading this. I read a lot of fan-fic, and i have never cried before. you must update often. Please update often.
"He was still shocked by the nerve of that chit, suggesting that his Harry was still alive, disturbing the quiet acceptance and tranquility that had cradled Severus. He had been safe, enclosed in a bubble of grief, separate from the rest of the world."
Perfect, perfect line. I thought there might be some sort of way that Hermione would search for Harry. She just doesn't seem the sort to give up so easily. Now that she has a blood relation, that should make things easier; provided she can talk Snape into giving her some of his blood, or whatever it is that the spell requires.
I did not mention this before, but it does appear that there is some very subtle chemistry here between Snape and Hermione, making me wonder if there is a pairing in their future. They seem to touch one another more often than before, although that could certainly be due to grief; and Snape mentions at least once or twice that she reminds him of Lily in some ways.
Snape had to know that nothing short of suicidal curiosity could have made Harry approach him, considering their horrible rapport up until that point. Poor Harry, though, knowing this and feeling unable to do anything about it!
As usual, you have earned my overwhelming respect as an author. Though it's not as good as yours, you should read my story sometime! ;)

I think I've held my breath long enough that any other person would have had the decency to pass out by now.
As usual, your tone is gorgeous. You create the perfect mood to highlight and bring forward your main character's feelings, using the box, the fire, the untouched legions of whiskey. Snape giving up Lily because he wanted to protect her is perfectly plausible; Harry keeping his parentage secret, the same. Snape thinks it is uncharacteristic of Harry, but I don't; Harry keeps his secrets well in canon, only revealing things at what he considers to be the 'right' time - or not at all, such as the fact that the Hat wanted to put him in Slytherin.
Severus's near-obsession with the mahogany box might be just a *hair* overdone, but not off-puttingly so. I can see his personality shifting under the weight of this new knowledge, and it is fascinating to witness.
Of course I, and likely all of your readers, are probably waiting for Harry to return, since we are not certain he has died. Hmm.
Also, perfect choice of poem - lovely.

Keep it coming! This story is an amazing Snape piece and I totally love it!!!! Not many fics delve this deep into his thoughts on the relationship thing. They all show his actions after he discovers that Harry is his son, but this is deeper. I love it! Great job. =)(=.
