Reviews For Reading the Signs
And Harry's speaking again! *big smile here* I suspected Harry's signs for Severus, but it is nice to know for certain. I'm curious to see how things will go now, that they're openly 'father and son.' Author's Response: I think it would have been too much for wee Harry if Severus hadn't come through in the end. I'm afraid that my choice of signs for Snape wasn't all that original, but my excuse is that Harry's 11 and that he's not exactly subtle :)
Author's Response: As you'll find out in the next chapter, Harry isn't *quite* fully there with the speaking yet, but one small step at a time, right? Glad you noticed that he spoke more than one word. Because at first it was just two words, but then I realized it wouldn't quite make the moment clear enough. Thanks for the review!!
Author's Response: The next chapter is definitely in the works and already planned out. I'm so glad you liked it :)
Author's Response: I'm happy you like Snape's response. I wanted it to be a very important moment, but not too out of character. The next chapter is already being written, so hopefully soon!
Author's Response: That's exactly it. Nicely put!
Loved this chapter...you're yanking our heartstrings now! Thanks! Author's Response: Heh, glad you liked it!
I also really love how your story is kind of introducing signs to me. I was watching a movie the other day in which people were signing and I was trying to catch some of the signs I recognized from your story. Do you know sign language or do you have some resource for all these signs? Thanks for the lovely, eventful chapter! Author's Response: I kept Harry's signs very basic, because true signing is a language all its own, with sentence structure and all sorts of stuff that I know nothing about. So I lept it to just single words that wouldn't require an extensive understanding. It's all true British Sign Language though, which is similar in some ways from American Sign Language, but different in others. For example, the sign for father is quite different. So I used a bunch of different British Sign Language sites to help me out. Thanks for your comments!
Author's Response: "Speechless" and "I love it" works fine for me, lol. Thanks for reviewing!
Author's Response: I've always loved to write, and writing about characters you love is just the cherry on top, really. I'm working on the next chapter already, so hopefully it'll be up soon :)
Although I started laughing at first (because how can you not) at this: "He sneered to himself at the irony. Severus Snape had to teach Harry Potter not to be ashamed of his emotions. He wondered briefly if the apocalypse was upon them." The irony was just delicious! But I could just *feel* Harry's embarrassment, poor guy, when Severus showed him the drawing. I don't know why, but for some reason I wasn't sure if Severus was going to offer to be Harry's father figure or not, but was SO happy he offered. The ending was incredibly heartwarming. And we finally found out Harry's sign for Severus. *Grins* Thank you! Author's Response: I'm glad that part made you laugh, because it's one of my favourites too :) Yeah, I wanted Harry's reaction to be that way because I think any kid would be HORRIFIED if something they had drawn or written in private was found by an adult. That was actually pulled from my own life, where I was in a situation a little bit like Harry's here. And I can still remember 18 years later how horribly embarrassed I was. Thankws so much for your review!! |
