Reviews For Walk the Shadows
And even Harry, who is only a beginning Occlumens, was able to shove Snape, a *very* accomplished Legilimens, out of his mind. How much more so Dumbledore, who's expert at both disciplines? It certainly is intense, though, and I'm glad Remus and Harry had a chance to apologize to each other before the shite hit the vortex. And Snape's response to the 'good news' is typically Snapeish in its understatement. One hopes 'fully addressing' Harry's admittedly 'horrific lack of judgment' doesn't involve bloodshed, though I'm resigned to the expectation of copious buckets full of angst. Of course, Horrific Lack of Judgment could be Harry's middle name, couldn't it? Annette (who's glad it's Wednesday, but wishes it were Friday, even though she knows it's folly to wish away time) Author's Response: Horrific Lack of Judgment could be Harry's middle name, couldn't it? Yeah it totally could! Hmmm, maybe he needs to be adopted, just so they can change his name to that. ;-) And I understand your concern about Dumbles and the Legilimency issue. All Will Be Explained, I promise. See you soon; I'm bringing donuts!
But of course Harry can't lash out with all the power of magic simply because he wants so desperately to make Dumbledore "get" it. One thing I thought about after DH is that Dumbledore is the leader and he has to make tough decisions, but he seems to me to be removed from the actual effects of his orders. For instance, he helps to plan things Snape will do, but doesn't have to personally face the reality of watching a person he knows, who is trusting him, tortured right in front of him (I'm actually think DH here). I think canon Dumbledore would have been a better leader, perhaps more understanding of those under him, if he'd had to deal with the cruel realities face to face a bit more, rather than just from behind his desk. There's reasons why commanding officers have to experience real war before they get some of those commanding positions. My point is that even though Harry's action was very dangerous and shows how far he has to go, Dumbledore may ultimately be better off for having experienced Harry's memories.
Harry was perfectly right in showing Dumbledore just what he's lived with and put up with and had to endure because of Dumbledore's actions and inactions, and I'm glad that the old coot will have to live with those memories now and I only wish he's feel the actual physical pain too!! I only hope Severus doesn't get too shirty with Harry, I don't know how much more Harry can take, and I hope Severus realizes that in time before his actions harm Harry too!! Really Terrific Chapter - that only way it could have been better was if Dumbledore was bleeding out the eyes!! As always, I'm looking forward to the next one!! Scarlett |
