Why doesn't Dumbledore have better mental defenses? And did Harry just show Dumbledore all of the pain Dumbledore had caused? It sucks that Severus and Harry can't just celebrate the new guardianship.

Oooooh.... good chappie. I always like to see Dumbledore get his, without having his made out to be too ridiculously evil.

Okay, so don't hit me, but I have a *really* hard time believing that Harry could forcefully hold a Legilimentic connection open against Dumbledore's will, no matter how outraged he (Harry)is. Actually, given the fact that as far as I know Harry isn't even a Legilimens, I wonder how he was able to make the attack at all. It's not like Legilimency establishes a permanent conduit, so it doesn't make much sense to me that he could attack back along the connection that Dumbledore had initiated, once he'd closed it.

And even Harry, who is only a beginning Occlumens, was able to shove Snape, a *very* accomplished Legilimens, out of his mind. How much more so Dumbledore, who's expert at both disciplines?

It certainly is intense, though, and I'm glad Remus and Harry had a chance to apologize to each other before the shite hit the vortex. And Snape's response to the 'good news' is typically Snapeish in its understatement. One hopes 'fully addressing' Harry's admittedly 'horrific lack of judgment' doesn't involve bloodshed, though I'm resigned to the expectation of copious buckets full of angst. Of course, Horrific Lack of Judgment could be Harry's middle name, couldn't it?

    Author's Response:

Yeah it totally could!  Hmmm, maybe he needs to be adopted, just so they can change his name to that.  ;-)  And I understand your concern about Dumbles and the Legilimency issue.  All Will Be Explained, I promise.  See you soon; I'm bringing donuts!

I can understand Harry's pain, and his intense desire to *make* Dumbledore acknowledge it all, especially because he partly blames Dumbledore. And certainly, Dumbledore is partly to blame, and he's not really understanding Harry.

But of course Harry can't lash out with all the power of magic simply because he wants so desperately to make Dumbledore "get" it.

One thing I thought about after DH is that Dumbledore is the leader and he has to make tough decisions, but he seems to me to be removed from the actual effects of his orders. For instance, he helps to plan things Snape will do, but doesn't have to personally face the reality of watching a person he knows, who is trusting him, tortured right in front of him (I'm actually think DH here). I think canon Dumbledore would have been a better leader, perhaps more understanding of those under him, if he'd had to deal with the cruel realities face to face a bit more, rather than just from behind his desk. There's reasons why commanding officers have to experience real war before they get some of those commanding positions. My point is that even though Harry's action was very dangerous and shows how far he has to go, Dumbledore may ultimately be better off for having experienced Harry's memories.

I pick Wednesday. I get a choice right? Man this seems like a really crazy cliffy. I'm actually semi glad Harry lost it... but now Harry will feel even more guilty... It's cool though, that he was so powerful. Man I can't wait for an update. It's almost Wednesday isn't it? So you're going to post really soon right? Or, okay, I'll stop, you'll post when you post. I will survive. Um, well sorry for the super hyper/not-quite-there review. Great chapter, great story (all your stories really), and I wish you happy writing.

I must agree that that was a horrific display of a lack of judgement, but I am punching the air screaming "Go Harry!" Woot! And congrats on having yet another story featured, there is a reason that you were awarded that ribbony thing...your stories are awesome! I must feel kinda bad for Dumbledore, though...but he'll be ok and finally able to REALLY help Harry. So it was worth it, right? (Wednesday or Thursday couldn't come soon enough!)

    I LOVE IT!!
Harry was perfectly right in showing Dumbledore just what he's lived with and put up with and had to endure because of Dumbledore's actions and inactions, and I'm glad that the old coot will have to live with those memories now and I only wish he's feel the actual physical pain too!!
I only hope Severus doesn't get too shirty with Harry, I don't know how much more Harry can take, and I hope Severus realizes that in time before his actions harm Harry too!!
Really Terrific Chapter - that only way it could have been better was if Dumbledore was bleeding out the eyes!! As always, I'm looking forward to the next one!!
    Scarlett
