Reviews For Walk the Shadows
So, I'm gathering that Snape's - promise - to arrange for other accomidations would mean St. Mungos? Not because he can't handle an out of control teen, but because he thinks Harry may need the help? Psychologically? Great chapter. Gotta love the hurt/comfort stuff :D Keira Author's Response: Hi Kiera, thanks for the review! I should have a new chapter out on the weekend, if all goes as planned. Yes, I will be more explicit about what they're "discussion of rules" was in the next chapter, but Snape did indeed threaten him with St. Mungo's, if he didn't promise to obey them, and purely for Harry's own safety. And yes, I think I was almost as upset about Hedwig dying as I was about . . . other people who figure prominently in my fic. *sigh* Consider it my small revenge, to have them here.
Author's Response: Thanks! I should have a new chapter out over the weekend. Today, I'm working on Whelp.
Author's Response: Hi LES, Yep, it's gonna be slow going for Harry, but he'll work through it, piece by piece. I should have a new chappie out this weekend. Today, Whelp!
Author's Response: Thanks for the review! Yeah, I didn't want to do unmitigated gloom, and I figrued that, since Harry has always had kind of a sh** life, but has always been able to take pleasure in some things (like flying) that he would still, here. And Harry's a VERY angry person, as we saw in OotP, particularly. When given an outlet, he'll go for it.
Author's Response: Hi Jade, I actually find Whelp far easier to write. I think it's because, although both deal with tough topics re: child abuse, Shadows is really focused on Harry's recovery, where Whelp has ample opportunities for him to just act like a child. I've had experience working both with children who have been abused, and with adults who have been victims of rape, and of the two, I found working with children easier, too. But it's something I wanted to try, here, so I'm doing my best! Glad to see it seems to be working, over all. Thanks for the review! --rachel
Author's Response: Thanks, wynnleaf! As I mention to Jade (above -- can other readers see the responses?) I've worked with rape and abuse survivors, and so have an inkling, anyway, of the process they go through in recovery.
Author's Response: Thanks for the review! Yeah, more will be made of Snape's background, and how come he knows how to deal with Harry. But not till later. I should have a new chppie out this weekend.
Keira Author's Response: Thanks for the review! Yeah, Snape is trying to be understanding, but he realizes how purgative a bit of destruction can be. And he did yell . . . a bit. :-)
It's rather refreshing to see and made me enjoy this chapter greatly. You're story is a cut above the rest. I'm also enjoying your fast updates. Keep up the great work! Author's Response: Thanks! I'm not all that fond of clingy!Harry, myself, and anger is his usual response to pretty much everything stressful, in general, so I figured to notch it up a bit. New chapter should be done tomorrow. |
