Reviews For Harry Potter and the Potions Professor
Author's Response: Thank you!
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you do!
I really liked this chapter, it was great to see some emotion-provoking conversations! I don't even mind that you didn't get to the blood quill and DA. It was wonderful and heartbreaking to see how much Harry wants a family and continues to doubt how much Severus loves him...*sigh* But, it was great to see him finally, sorta, admit to himself that he wants Severus to be his family. And Harry's comment of "you never talk about your family" made my heart break for Severus and I screamed "don't you screw this up, Sev!" He didn't. I thought he handled it very well...and I can't wait for that conversation, when it comes. It was really good for Severus to be overcome by his emotions there and after Harry finished telling of his painful history. I really like that, and it was in character for this Sev, so great job! I was overcome with emotion from reading that as well as "I wasn't there for you. None of us were there for you." It was perfect! So, great chapter and I'll try to speed read the next one! Author's Response: Thank you! It was a pretty emotional chapter, wasn't it? I've decided to adjust my outline for the story and have Sev find out about the blood quill later, simply because he's just found out about the Dursleys and that was so emotional, that I think it would be overkill if he discovered Harry's scarred hand right afterwards, too. I'm looking forward to writing about Severus opening up to Harry about his own past...should be very angsty and it'll give Harry a chance to be the strong, comforting one. Glad you like Sev's reaction...he does love Harry and it's hard to both hear how much Harry suffered and to realise how much he and the other professors let Harry down when they should have been looking out for him.
You did a wonderful job of Snape's reactions to the abuse Harry grew up with. I could easily see how Snape was reliving so much of his own past in Harry's words. Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, Severus will not be pleased with Umbridge. And I'm really looking forward to when Severus opens up to Harry and tells him more about his own past, though it won't happen for a time yet. But I think that will be another big step for them, and it will give Harry a chance to be the strong, comforting one.
Author's Response: Thank you! I am going to begin the next chapter today, but it'll probably take a few days to finish. I'll try to make it longer, but no promises...I do like to write long chapters, but sometimes I get to a good stopping point, and think that it's better to end there and go ahead and update the fic. But the story still has a ways to go before the end. Thanks again!
It was moving to read Harry's account at the Dursleys, but it was Severus' reaction to it that brought me to tears. I love it when our potions master lets his guard down and his emotions show. I really enjoy the dialogue you write between the two of them. Thanks for the new chapter! Author's Response: Thank you! I'm so happy you liked it! Yes, Harry really is very compassionate and kind-hearted. It didn't take him long to realise that he'd hurt Severus and of course, he felt terrible about that. And Severus really does care for Harry a lot...I think it's moved beyond simple 'caring for him' to 'love', but I'm not sure Severus is ready to put it into words just yet, but he definately is feeling very protective. Thanks again!
"You're not going back to them this summer, Harry. At least, not alone. I'll promise you that, too." That quote gave me a great visualization of Snape staying with Harry at the Dursley's over the summer. That would be great to see if you ever did that. Great work and I hope to read more soon! Author's Response: Thank you! It was a big step for Harry to tell Severus all the things he's never told anyone before, but it was important for him to let Severus know why he reacted to strongly to the safety precautions, and to let Severus know that he trusts him. And I do have plans for Harry and Severus for the summer. Severus will eventually meet up with the Dursleys, though it won't be for the whole summer. It would be great to see him moving in with Harry though, wouldn't it? You could almost feel sorry for the Dursleys if Petunia and Vernon weren't so horrible.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it!
I liked how we got to hear Harry thinking through his issues at the beginning of the chapter and that he came to the conclusion that he actually wants Severus to be his father. I also liked how he went to apologize and ending up just sorta rambling about the cupboard. And, Sev's reaction was perfect...the horror and the hug. I'm glad they worked it out and got to sit down and talk it out and even compromise and I liked too that Severus is so upset on Harry's behalf. Love the relationship here. Thanks for another great chapter! Author's Response: Thank you! Mush is always fun to write, lol. Yes, Harry has realised that he'd like Severus to be his father, but he still isn't quite sure that Severus is ready for it. And I thought that it would be hard for Harry both to apologise and to tell about the cupboard, so I wanted to show that awkwardness. And yes, Sev is in protection mode for Harry now. It'll be interesting to see what happens when he does come face to face with the Dursleys, though that won't be for a long time, maybe not til the next story. Thanks again! |
