Reviews For Harry Potter and the Potions Professor
Hmm...you mention the Umbridge conversation, again...I wonder...*grins in anticipation* Does that mean that Severus will find out about the blood quill, now? I think it would be interesting if he found out without Harry telling him about it, and then confronted Harry--for instance, he notices the scars on Harry's hand, or Ron or Hermione let something slip in Severus' hearing (though not necessarily in his presence...), or something like that...Just throwing in my two cents... Anyway, thank you for such wonderful writing that allows me to procrastinate on other things! I can't wait for the next chapter! Please update soon!!! Author's Response: Oh, thank you! That means a lot! I just try to write the best as I can, and hope people will enjoy it. It's really encouraging when they do. I'm still planning the best way for Sev to find out about blood quill, but he will at some point. Thank you for reading and for your reviews! They've made my day!
Author's Response: Thank you! Me, too!
Author's Response: Thanks! You just can't beat Sev-Harry bonding mush, in my book.
:-D Author's Response: Thank you! Glad you liked it! It was fun to write.
Author's Response: Thank you! I'll try to post again soon!
It was good to see Harry taking care of Severus instead of the other way around. It's just nice to get those feelings from Harry every once and a while. And I loved the conversation about Severus' clothes. You are too funny! Although I really am curious...when do we find out what Harry gets everyone for Christmas?! And what about Severus' dream? Do we get his point of view in the second half of the chapter? I'm really curious to see what it was about! And YAY for Harry finally having a parent figure! (Even though he's still quite hesitant about what their relationship means, that certain uncertainty, it really keeps him in character!) It's good that Severus seems to realize it too, that man is turning into a softie and I love it!! Great job on this and thanks for updating sooner! It truly was just what I needed this morning! Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad to see you again! How's your fic coming along? It was fun to write Harry being a bit of a caretaker here, and if you liked it, you'll be happy to know that I've got a couple of other scenes planned where Harry will be the one taking care of and comforting Severus...one later in "Potions Professor" and one for the Deathly Hallows AU. Christmas is coming soon. Everytime I say something will be in the next chapter, I end up not writing it in that chapter after all, so I'll just say it's coming soon. The more interesting question might be what does Severus get Harry for Christmas, though. About Sev's nightmare, well, it's really not meant to be a big mystery, though Severus won't share it with Harry for a while. But remember the day before, he had told the Trio about DEs killing Hermione's neighbors, including a young couple with a baby boy, and the kids were talking about how horrible and cruel the DEs were...it just might have brought back some memories Severus would rather forget. Yeah, I'm so happy Harry and Severus have reached this point in their relationship. I love softie Sev. Glad you liked it!
I also like how you've prtrayed the Defense lesosns and how Sev explains why practice is so important when doing something dangerous! Practice makes perfect!! This is exactly what i stress when I write similar scenes in my fics. Loved the bit about the black clothes, funny but that was the reason i called my story Some Good Guys Wear Black and made similar comments in it1 LOL! The ending lines were great too, so beautiful! One of my favs & update soon! Author's Response: Thank you! I enjoyed writing about the Defense lessons, and yep, there's just no substitute for practice. Sev knows that Harry will have to face Voldemort again one day, and he is determined that Harry will be prepared for it. I've seen your story, and it looks interesting. I'll try to read it, but might not have a chance before the weekend.
I love the little joking between but also that Harry is still insecure when he has to ask, "Do you really wish that I'd..." That was wonderful, that insecurity. And I loved too that Severus comes over to reassure him and that his eyes are filled with emotion. So wonderful. Teared me up there a bit. And now Harry is really realizing what Sev means to him! And that Sev is just like a parent. I'm so happy. Great chapter. Thanks! :o) Author's Response: Yeah, a definite warm fuzzy alert here. I'm so glad you liked it. And I think Harry can be a great caretaker, too. I think, short as this chapter is, it's one of my favorites, just because I can see how far Harry and Severus have come. That they're able to joke around with one another is a small miracle, if you consider all the years of animosity that lay between them at the end of fifth year, so I just loved writing them kidding one another. Still, as you pointed out, Harry does have some lingering insecurities, because he was truly unwanted by the Dursleys and because they drilled it into him that he was a burden that no one could possibly want, that's a very sensitive issue with him. Even now, after all this time, he still couldn't be absolutely sure that Sev was joking about that, but it does show progress that he was able to let Severus know he was insecure and didn't just bottle it up and brood about it. There's still one more big hurdle in the road before Harry and Severus can truly accept themselves as parent and child, and that will be coming up pretty soon after Christmas, I think. Thanks so much, OE!
Author's Response: Thank you! I really loved writing this chapter...it's such fun to show Harry and Sev being all warm and fuzzy towards one another.
Author's Response: Thanks, Kim! I'm so happy you liked it! This chapter was a lot of fun to write because I do enjoy the mushy scenes. I really wanted to show Severus working hard to train Harry, but at the same time, being very determined not to hurt him. Most of the fics I've read, if Harry is learning any new magical techniques, will show them being at least a bit painful, and Harry getting bruised or sore, or sometimes enduring real pain, in learning them. And I understand the thinking, the 'no pain, no gain' thoughts, but to me, it also seems equally likely that Severus, once he's close to Harry and knows how much he's suffered in the past, would do his best to find a pain-free way of instructing him, or at least ways to minimize it. The clothing conversation was fun to write, too. I wonder if Harry really will get Sev some outlandish clothes as a gift...could be interesting. I hope your headache got better and you had a great day, too!
