Author's Response: I am so glad you are enjoying the story so much.  It's lovely to get a new reader  and thanks so much for the reviews.  I hope you continue to enjoy and yes, Sev is carrying around waaay too much baggage.  Poor guy.  :o(

Since I've gotten so far behind, I'll review the past 3 chapters, okay? (I know you won't mind, lol!)

For Chapter 23, I loved how Severus responded when Harry called him "Dad." The awkwardness and the longing for a closer relationship that they both feel is so obvious.

It's actually kind of sad to me that Severus tells Harry to keep their conversation private and not tell his friends. It shows how deprived Severus is of true friends himself. And though I know his opinion of Gryffindor recklessness, he should realize that Harry's friends are completely loyal to him and trustworthy. Hopefully, he'll see it as the fic goes along.

I also loved the confrontation between McGonagall and Severus: They both have valid points. Severus has spent five years despising and mistreating Harry, so I can't Minerva for being concerned, and yet Severus is also right that she herself could have done more to help Harry and to keep him out of danger. Its nice that they're both feeling protective, though. Harry needs all the people watching out for him that he can get.

I really do feel sorry for Draco. What horrible pressure he's under, but on the other hand, when he made the "Potter hates me," comment, I also wanted to say, "Well, what do you expect, kid? You haven't been the soul of friendliness yourself the past few years, you know." I can't wait to see how this is going to play out!

And you know how to end on a cliffhanger!

Well, now onto ch. 24: It was just beautiful how Severus was able to be there for Harry when he was so distraught and upset about Remus being hurt. I just want to pat him on the back and say, "Well done, Dad!"

Severus was good to take Harry to the infirmary that night, too, so he could be with Remus, and the scene with Harry crying in his arms was so sweet, and sad, and wonderful!

I love how protective Severus has become of Harry, and it makes me wonder how things would have been different if the truth about them had come out during the Triwizard Tournament or when Umbridge was at Hogwarts. That would be interesting to see, too.

And Harry's confusion about what to call Severus is so real. I could really sympathize with him.

Chapter 25: The flashback between Severus and Lily is bittersweet indeed. I love their closeness, the romantic teasing, and Severus' jealousy...but it's tragic knowing how it will end.

Harry sleeping on Severus' sofa, and his father tucking him in and watching over him is just such a lovely scene. I'm so glad you've gotten to the point where our boys can play nice with each other. Sometimes it's kind of fun to write them being snarky and mean to one another, but sweet and cuddly is much, much better!

I love how much they both just want to be father and son, and I really hope that that day isn't too far off.

And poor Severus, he does have a terrible burden of guilt, but hopefully Harry can help him. It's hard, but he was just trying to do what he thought was best.

I'm very curious about that charm, too!

    Looking forward to more!

    Author's Response:

Wow, it may be my longest review yet! LOL

Glad you liked the "Dad" scene.  Their longing for each other is pretty clear, it's true.  And you are very right about Severus not understanding about Friends.  Lily was his only real friend and James came pretty close and both of them 'seemed' to have betrayed him.  It's too much to past right now.  He does need to learn his friends will be there and at least I think he is starting to see that with Ginny.  We'll see how that goes.

The McGonagall scene was fun and you're right.  They both are 100 percent right.  Neither of them did so great.  But yeah, it's fun to see people being protective of Harry.  :o)  Yeah, I feel bad for Draco too.  But, you're right.  A lot of his problems are his own problems.  *sigh*.  Thanks for the cliffanger compliment.  That one was fun!

"Well done, Dad", indeed.  Severus does need a pat, doesn't he?  I'm so happy you liked the crying huggy part.  That is officially my favorite scene (though right now it's battling for first place with that corridor Lily/Sev scene..LOL)

Well, now you've made me want to do another story in a different year.  LOL  That would be pretty interesting.

Harry is still struggling with what to call Severus.  But, they'll get through that too.

It is tragic knowing that Lily will die and really it just makes me want to write a story entirely about the two of them.

Didn't you love that tucking in part?  That was really adorably fun to write.  So cozy.

We'll have to see what Harry can do next chapter for his father.  If anything at all.  Oh, and glad I've piqued your curiosity about the Charm.

    Fantastic as always.

It amazes me that you can update so quickly. You never seem to suffer from writer's block.

Of course, this is to our great advantage.

    Eagerly awaiting next update.

    Author's Response:

LOL  I have lots of it already written so it's not always too much work to get a chapter out.  That said, I do have writer's block a lot but I have about 6 stories going right now so if I do get blocked, I can usually go write another one for a bit and then inspiration hits!

Glad you enjoyed the chapter!  And happy to see your story here now. :o)

Aw, I love indulgent Severus! And of course, gentle, affectionate Severus, sleeping on his lounge with his son. That's kind of disapointing about the charm but I'm sure there is something else going on there that at least Harry and his friends don't know about. Yet.

Remus and Tonks are very sweet together. I thought that seeing them together might have brought up some issues for Severus, missing Lily and all. Wouldn't be surprised, poor thing is having all his history thrown at him lately.

So there appears to be the beginnings of confessions at the end of this chapter. Looking forward to the rest. Happy writing!

    Author's Response:

LOL  Indulgent Severus is fun, isn't he? LOL  Affectionate Severus is fun too.  Heck, all sorts of Sev are fun.  LOL

Yes, Harry is pretty disappointed about that Charm...but I will say, this story is called Lily's Charm so that can't be the end of the story, now can it?  LOL  :oP

I love Remus and Tonks too.  Severus would not have loved to see them together, no, but he hides everything extremely well.  You never know what that man is feeling. Confessions coming up and maybe we'll get to see some more of those enigmatic emotions from our Sev!  Thanks for reviewing.  :o)  Glad you enjoyed.

Great chapter, again. I thought it was hilarious how Harry was getting upset with Tonks for her words against Severus. Who would have ever thought that Harry would ever become a champion for Severus Snape?!? Not that long ago he was sprouting off the same words about Snape and now he finds them offensive. How sweet.

Now we truly do see just how deep Snape's pain runs. Just how deep his guilt runs. Imagine how it must feel to know that a decision you made indirectly led to the death of the person you loved. I'm not sure I could overcome that guilt. I'm guessing that's the same kind of guilt Harry feels about Sirius, and maybe even Cedric. Those two have a lot more in common than they realize.

Thanks so much for the update. BTW, I saw the youtube video and it was amazing. Isn't it cool that your story has it's own trailer?

    Author's Response:

It is pretty cool that my story has a trailer!  Amazing really.  LOL  I love it too.

Glad you caught that with Harry getting upset about Tonks being rude about Severus.  It's that thing you know, where you can tease your brother but you don't want anyone else to do it!  LOL  We had a lot of that in my family.

Snape's pain truly does run deep here.  His guilt really is huge.  Maybe insurmountable.  I'm not sure I could get over that either.  And yeah, I think Harry does feel that same guilt about Sirius and a bit about Cedric.  And yes, Severus and Harry do have much in common here.  Hopefully, they can help to heal one another.

I seriously doubt that I will be able to find the right words to describe exactly what I enjoyed about this chapter, but rest assured, you continue to put out the very best of updates. I am truly, truly stunned and delighted at the information that was revieled to us here and can not wait until the next chapter...really, really great chapter!!

I absolutly adored the 1977 spot, it was definatly an enjoyable read! I must agree that it seems that Remus has some kind of feelings more than friendship towards Lily, but it would be strange of him to act on them, for he values her friendship far too much. It was nice to see an unguarded Sev too, as well as for him to tell Lily to be careful (well, to stay away) from the werewolf, how long have Lily and Sev been...ummm...together before this particular scene? I just found it kinda strange but also really perfect too that Lily knew about Sev's parents. Well, it's really not important, but it was nice to see how involved they were at Hogwarts, I never pegged Sev for snogging in the corridor! And it's great that their relationship was 'real' to both of them that Sev could confide in Lily his past. I just liked seeing that side of Snape...and Lily, too...

It was also nice to see Sev relax in Harry's presence, albeit not completely, and that fact makes me feel for him. It really is depressing the situation they're all in...oh! the agnst! But that's ok, because as Sev says, "it will not always be so." *crosses fingers for sooner rather than later!*

It is amazing how good at reading his son Sev is, although Harry is really easy to understand, I suppose. But it was great for Sev to see the indescribable need of Harry's to see that Remus was really ok. *sigh* They really have come a long way. Especially now that Harry is using that natural gift that all children aquire to get exactly what they want from a parent...go Harry!...Sev, just don't indulge him too much! But I suppose we don't really have to worry about that, do we?

“You know, I’m not just waiting to defy you every time you tell me to do something,” and another understanding is created. I do love this one, it was good of Harry to point out and good for Sev to know...that just sometimes, Harry has to do things he can't explain or rationalize...sooo true...

It was hard to see Harry react in such a way to Sev's behavior, reminicent of earlier years. But, quick thinking on Sev's part brought Harry back to the relm of understanding...if only he'll stay there! But, it's good that his heart is involved...just use your head too!

Interesting new information on Lily's charm...but I'm a little confused. Did they use it? Sev said he was too afraid to after he learned that Lily was pregnate, he didn't want to do it, fearing for her safety...so they didn't finish it. But, there was another charm, right? It was this other charm then that gave Sev the protection he has against Voldie...so...will we learn more about this Impenetrabiilis Charm?

About Sev's last line...I'm certainly going to try and repair my heart in my sleep, because it is most definatly broken...I'm surprised at how deeply Sev feels this and hope that Harry is able to grant him some relief. Please don't make us wait long...

Good luck with your next chapter and I'll go read Lily's Charm...What If? now...and then perhaps I'll write some more myself seeing as yesterday wasn't as productive as I had hoped it would be. Happy Week! and Good Writing!

    Author's Response:

All right, let's see:  first of all, thanks for the review!  Next, you might have to go back to chapter 19: Flight to see the Impenetrabillis Charm and how it first came into play in the story.  Remember Hermione found it in a textbook and we learned that it was a sort of charm to stop magic attaching itself to the body and Lily must have performed it on Snape to stop the Dark Mark from effecting Severus like it does the other Death Eaters?  They also read something that Lily could have also done with that same charm that made Harry wonder why his parents hadn't already killed Voldemort?  And now, Harry learns that they couldn't have killed Voldemort because Lily would have needed to activate something about the charm frist and Snape confirms this by saying he should have let her do that but feared for her to have to be so close to Voldemort in order to?  Okay, well, that's all the info I gave you but up next will be some more... LOL

I pictured this at the end of the year and they had gotten together near the beginning and Severus has been friends with Lily for years and Severus would have shared things with her before.  I think Lily really understood Sev long before they 'got together'.  And vice versa.  LOL, no Snape really is not that sort but I rather picture Lily is and come on, what 18 year old guy would have minded that?  LOL

Severus really is growing but in my head, it's actually more of a regression back to who he was when he was with Lily...finding himself again.  And,yeah Harry is sort of like an open book.  LOL though...nope, no danger of indulging this boy too much.  But, it was fun to have Severus do that when Harry really needed it.

It was difficult to have Harry being disconcerted again by Snape's necessary coldness but at least yeah, Severus reeled him back in quickly.  YAY Dad!

Well, I think you'll understand better why Severus feels this guilt so deeply with the next chapter or after you've now read my recap of Lily's Charm!  LOL  Anyways, this guilt is a deep one and does make sense.  It could have all been avoided.  Too much sadness.

Happy Writing to you as well!  :o)

so sad, but he souldn't blame himself, he was only doing what he thought was right! guess harry gets that from him taking all the blame. Good chappie!

    Lio

    Author's Response:

Of course he shouldn't blame himself, and you're right as well that he could only do what he thought was best.  Hopefully, Harry will understand.  Glad you liked the chapter.  Thanks for reviewing!
