Another great chapter! I loved how at the beginning Severus realises that he enjoys taking care of Harry. Severus seems like the kind of person who needs to be needed. ( I sometimes wonder how I can look at canon Snape and think that the man could be an awesome caretaker if he'd just let himself, but crazy or not, that's how I see him He's just let his better nature get all curdled up. It's too bad he never got straightened out, but we fanfic authors can help him there ).

The part where Severus is thinking about how he doesn't need to talk with someone about any of his experiences, that he's gotten used to it and can handle it, was very sad for me. He's had such a hard life, and never really had anyone that he could talk to (once Lily was gone), but that doesn't mean he's fine dealing with it alone.

I do feel bad for Harry and all the pressure he's putting himself under, trying to be the perfect son, but after the way this chapter ended, I have a feeling that he and Severus will be getting things out in the open before too much longer.

I know it's got to be hard for him, too, to have the school gossiping about him and Severus, but it's to be expected really...it is pretty shocking news at first. Hopefully, things will die down soon.

Can't wait to see what's going to happen now, and what the aftermath of the fight is going to be!

    Author's Response:

Thanks!  Severus does seem to need to be needed.  I love that about him.

Yeah, Severus is in serious denial.  *shakes head*  Poor, poor man.

Yeah, things are certainly about to burst open.  :oP

Hope you enjoy the aftermath and yeah, this news is pretty shocking.  Everyons is certainly pretty upset about it.

Really, there's no way I could just leave it at that!! Sorry for the long reveiw that's bound to come unbidden from my fingertips... *sigh* Here I go...

I hate nightmares! I just had a talk about some creepy scary ones with a friend of mine and re-reading this made me get chills AGAIN! You are too good, it's the worst place I can think of, between the dream and real worlds; just before you wake up. But I'm glad that Sev was there to help Harry through it and that they're working on a solution to combat the acutal problem instead of just treating the symptoms.

I just love how Sev is continuing to pick up on those little hints that Harry drops, his not wanting to argue being the biggest and most reacurring one. Hopefully now Sev'll be able to understand why Harry 'erupted' (thanks Cathy!) in the first place. *crosses fingers*

    Awwww....and Ginny's Harry's focal point!! *squee!*

Any particular reason as to WHY Sev was so unable to answer Ginny's request? The only thing I can come up with is that he respects her and her connection with Harry...but I don't know if that's enough to warrent such a responce (or lack of one) from Sev. Hmmm....

I really almost wish that Sev did push the issue of talking about Halloween...before Harry snapped. Now I feel it's inevitable and Sev is going to revoke Harry's privalage of bringing up the topic on his own...no way to get yourself outta that situation, Harry, sorry.

It seems right too that Sev would bury his feelings, memories, and reactions to the horrors he's witnessed during his tenure as Death Eater. But I really hope that Harry calls him out on this and makes him open up some, perhaps not having the best of consequences, but I do think that both of the Snapes could benefit from talking about Halloween. (And then follow up the conversation with a happy look through that photo album...) Although I'll give Sev the fact that he does usually know what's going on with Harry...and yet is so off with his own emotions and the like...he doesn't know how much he's in denial.

Their mother henish banter was delightful...I thouroughly enjoyed that part! I love seeing them so at ease in each other's prescence... *giggles uncontrollably*

Just out of curiosity, how long did Harry sleep after Sev went to the lab?

And I just adore the idea that potion making relaxes Sev...he does that some in my ch. 4...I didn't steal that from you!...everything else, maybe...

"“Look at me.” Harry stopped rolling the little instrument and looked up, his eyes stormy." This was just really powerful for me...thanks.

I just hate this overly-self-sacrificing Harry, that he can't say anything wrong, that he can't put one toe out of line...come on Harry! (Must I do this again?!) Don't you understand? Sev's not going anywhere just because you say something that he doesn't particualaraly appreciate! He's there for good, he loves you, and he wants you to be ok. There's no way that you'll be able to get better, though if you don't voice what's going on underneath that messy head of hair! Tell your dad what's going on and you'll both be better for it!! (Although, now that Sev's most likely going to bring up the topic once Harry's conscious again, I kinda just wasted my breath...jeez, Harry!)

    Awww...our home... *sniffle*

    "A doorbell?" Lol...Lurch...

I always love a giddy Harry playing host, trying to show off his good manners...he was just funny. And good 'ol Remus. I simply love that werewolf!

I must say, though, Hermione kinda ticked me off this chapter. She was just being too bossy, albeit completly in character...that Hermione...what are we going to do with her?

I do wonder what Remus had to talk to Sev about, though...hmmm...any hints?

And then I wanted to stangle that Granger girl...man! She's got to learn that there is such a thing as too much information...that Harry didn't really need to know about how things were going 'upstairs.' Granted it would have been nice, but I'm sure that Sev would have talked to Harry about it...silly girl. *scoffs* And Ronald too... *growls*

I too noticed Ginny's quizzical look and wonder what she's thinking and what Harry's thinking to make him turn away from it...perhaps she's just concerned. I would be, actually, I am, still...but Harry already knows what he's got to do...or do I need to tell you a third time? Eh?

Again with the Hufflepuff...you're being too hard on yourself!

I was seriously bouncing up and down in my chair, clapping my hands like an overly-excited two-year old with a cookie being dangled in front of her face! That image of Harry and Sev walking into the Great Hall was just too perfect! I also thouroughly enjoyed Ron's comment, like they planned it or something...seriously, that kid is thick! I do wonder what talk was going on at the head table...hmmm. Where do most of the other professors stand with this?

I too love Neville...he's so awesome, such a BAMF! Yeah, sorry. Ok, and I hate that it's always Seamus that's bing a jerk, but I get it, that's just who he is...hopefully he'll turn around completely though! (Also love Ginny!)

"...it’ll all blow over, just like all the other times,” unfortunatly, I think it'll take a little longer than Ron expects for this to 'blow over.' Did I say that he's thick?

I do wonder if Sev and Remus are plotting one of Dumbledore's schemes or if they're simply taling about Harry. Surely they have some idea of what's going on with the kid...and where's Dumbledore anyway!?

I really enjoyed the Potions Class scene, that's definatly my favorite part of this chapter. Just becuase you think you're all Hufflepuff, doesn't mean that you haven't got a Slytherin bone in your body...I'd bet you've got quite a few as I don't even have a clue as to what to guess what Draco's up to or where his real loyalties lay...or anything! A complete blank! Good job, I commend you! Have some chocolate!

"Harry, how long?" his father asked, his tone changing slightly, though it was hard to tell if anyone else would notice, and Harry was more than a little startled to hear his father call him 'Harry' in class, but he answered without any difficulty as he and his father had gone over the assigned reading in great detail yesterday..." Awww...that never occured to me that Sev would call Harry 'Harry' in class rather than Mr. Potter, granted it does make perfect sense when you look at Harry's reaction to it from before. *sigh* So, is there going to be a formal anouncement of Harry James Snape Potter soon?!

I do have a feeling that when Sev said he needed to prepare for his next class that was him being Slytherin...and was then going to follow Harry and watch him for his own sanity. That's who I think pulled Harry off that 'P' guy.

    Ahhh...psychology, gotta love it!

Yeah, although total mental and physical breakdown arn't common symptoms of split personality disorder, Harry's still messed up. Thanks for reminding us...

I just hope that Harry wakes up next chapter, Sev and Harry have a talk, and that Dumbledore shows up...well definatly the first two! I'm also kinda wondering why Filch was on your list...hmm...detention? Hopefully not for Harry...

Well, I hope this was long enough for you, my fingers are definatly asking for a break, and perhaps some chocolate. Mmmm...thanks for such a great chapter! Although it was super agnsty, I've got warm fuzzies for the next chapter!!! Write, write, write! Keep those muses working overtime!

(One question, what is the hidden meaning behind this chapter title that I don't see?"

    Author's Response:

    Yikes!  Holy review, Batman!  LOL

Yeah, it is good that Harry finally has someone to help him through his nightmares...the boy is certainly plagued by them.  I'm glad you liked Ginny as the focal point.  Awww.

Remember way back in chapter 6 or so when James calls Severus by his name and he was so uncomfortable about it.  It shows a level of intimacy and comfort to use given names for Severus and he just really has a hard time admitting that he cares about anyone.  Of course he respects Ginny because of how much she cares for Harry but it is too  much at this point to expect him to be able to let her know that.  He can't do it either with Remus.  It's taking pretty much all Severus has, in what he gives to Harry.  He'll work on it though.

Yeah, Sev is really going to regret not pushing the issue, as well as getting an earful about that mistake from a certain Mediwitch.  But you've got to remember that Harry isn't the only tentative one here.  Sev is just as scared of having any tension between them as Harry is.  And Sev is in such deep denial that he would rather just believe that everything will be just fine.

These two will definitely need to talk, although I can't think it'll go as smoothly as we're all hoping.  These two men have been keeping their feelings in for two long.  Mt. Harry will likely meet its match in Mt. Severus.  *shivers*

I'm glad you liked their banter.  it's fun.

I think Harry slept a few more hours at least.

I think Severus turns automatically to Potions not only to relax but as a form of escape.  He's done that more than once in this story

"“Look at me.” Harry stopped rolling the little instrument and looked up, his eyes stormy." --You're welcome.

Oh, PK, I think Harry is def. going to be testing that little theory of yours.  Will Sev really still be there no matter what Harry says?

Harry finally has a home.  That is def. a warm fuzzy moment.

Remus and Sev were just chatting.  Well, Remus was chatting, checking up on both of them and Severus was probably trying to get him to quite babbling.  LOL

LOL  Granger needs a good what sometimes.  True.  I thought Ron was pretty cool this chappy though.  And Ginny knows something is off with Harry, as does Sev but although she will ask (in the library when they were there), Harry doesn't really even know what's going on inside his head.

    ROFL--Hufflepuff!

I'm glad you enjoyed the Potions class.  That Malfoy is a character, huh?

Yeah, Severus is not really inclined to call Harry, Mr. Potter again.  It's just too far away from where he wants to be with his son right now.

Hmmm....you'll have to wait and see who pulled Harry off.

LOL, yeah Hermione sorta missed the mark on that one.

Oh Filch is very important.  And really, do you think Harry's gonna get off scot-free here?  He started a brawl, PK!  A brawl!  ;o)

Hello! Thanks for the quick update!
I really like this upset Harry: if the events of Halloween hadn't had any effect on Harry it would not have been real, instead you really portrait it in a believable way. Thanks

Author's Response: Glad you liked it!  I do enjoy the whole psychlogical side of this story.  Thanks for believing!  LOL  And, thanks for the review.  :o)

Where to begin? I simply cannot deny this has to be about my favorite chapter, because it just gave me so much to chew on and lots of all the things I like best. I'm so filled up I'm about to burst, like when I go to Outbacks and have my favorite steak dinner, and I have a big salad, and the steak (medium rare, please) and that potato loaded with everything on it. This chapter had it all - angst, drama, humor, AND warm fuzzies. Like my favorite meal, this chapter is going to take some time to digest.

So I got my humor bits, and OE always manages to make me laugh out loud at least once per chapter lately. The easy banter between Harry and Severus is truly delicious and downright funny at times. I just love, love, love it. Like:

“I’m pretty sure you need sleep in order to recover,” Harry remarked as his frown deepened.

It's not supposed to be a humourous remark, but Harry being a mother hen to his Dad is adorable and funny.

    And this:

“McGonagall’s essay’s impossible,” he said in exasperation. “Who cares about comparing and contrasting the transmutative properties of dragon’s blood versus unicorn’s blood?”

“Apparently Professor McGonagall,” Severus answered dryly.

But the gaffaw went to this:

“Do you intend to blame me for all of your disagreeable habits?” he asked. Harry nodded.

    “Yep,” he said seriously.

Even Severus thought that was funny. Well, his eyes glinted with amusement and that's all you get from him. Because it was, ROTFL funny.

That Ron had to get pushed into Severus' apartment by Remus (where's that Gryffindor bravery, Ron?) was another giggle moment.

Hermione telling Harry he was developing split personality disorder by his mood swings...laughable and yet not at the same time (I'll go back to that later). Man, Hermione is a worry wart, in a hurry to get Harry to eat and to get back to class and not be late to class. She's leaving me exhausted trying to keep up.

I got a good share of warm fuzzy moments. Severus sitting on Harry's bed after helping him refocus and tucking him in. Ginny being Harry's focal point. I love the image of Ginny as "the sentinel against Voldemort's torture." I say just sic Ginny on Voldemort because I'm not sure anybody could defeat that feisty redhead, but I digress. Severus helping him feel less anxious in the Great Hall by their talk before hand and by repeatedly making eye contact through the meals. And Neville just being Neville and wanting to know how Harry is doing. I've always adored Neville.

And Severus called him "Harry" in potions class! And he gave Harry points! (Falls over in a dead faint). But I'm back up now, and chuckling with glee when Severus gets right in Draco's face with the "get back to work and quite snarling at my son" comment. The whole Draco interchange is part of the meal I'm still digesting. It took an odd twist at the end, and I'm guessing Draco was testing the waters with Harry earlier and they might end up coming to some kind of understanding yet. Hmmm...

My most favorite fuzzies moment was:

Severus doubted he’d be able to explain to Harry what he meant to him. How much it meant to him that Harry had come to find him. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his son.

(I need to hug Severus so bad, and I don't care a hoot that he'd hex me into oblivion...it's be worth it). I adored Severus telling the other teens "not to get Harry upset again." (Another reason to hug him and get hexed). And before I forget....Remus and Severus disappearing into the potions lab and talking at the head table. It will take a hundred more chapters before Severus admits the friendship is forming (OE, I'm expecting that many more chapters because I can't get enough).

And Harry hearing Severus say, "our home." Awwwwww.......I'm so full of fuzzies I might burst here.

I got some angst...that nightmare with Voldy and Severus interchanging in Harry's mind was icky. *shivers* And Harry starting to panic at the idea of entering the Great Hall for the first time since the whole Halloween ordeal. I could just feel it oozing out of him, poor kid.

Which leads me to the what this chapter was about in the first place. Harry's unraveling. Let's face it, we all knew it was coming. But watching that lava inch its way towards the top of the volcano that is Harry at the moment was interesting to watch (and heartwrenching at the same time). First we have that awful nightmare, with Severus and Voldemort changing places. Then Harry started to argue with Severus about making potions when he should be resting, but then he forced himself to stop. All through that conversation you could see Severus watching Harry's emotions being on edge. And I don't really buy that Severus is no longer emotionally affected by Voldemort's unpleasantness, as he tells Harry he's not. That guy is in denial.

More Harry cracks were showing when he suppressed his anger at his father not telling him about all the Daily Prophet articles. And Ginny noticed it too, because she was "staring at Harry intently, a quizzical look on her face." She doesn't miss much with her guy.

We noticed how irritable Harry was with is homework, and that's not really like him. And his rising panic at the thought of entering the Great Hall. His preference to stay with his dad after potions class, though he did eventually go with his friends to the library. But the emotional lava was clearly building up strength, as Harry just began feeling more and more irritable in the library, with his dad that night and the following day. Mt. Harry is destined to blow...

And boy did he! Of course, it wasn't going to take much from a Slytherin for the top to explode off. I am dying to know who pulled Harry off Pinth. My first suspicion (I don't know why) was Remus. But the more I think on it, it just might be Severus. If Severus was noticing how irritable Harry has been lately, it wouldn't surprise me if he was hanging out in the shadows worrying about just this situation happening. But I would think Severus would be teachng classes and not just conviently be there at the right moment. *shrugs* I'll just have to wait and see.

(If Ginny had been there, the fight wouldn't have happened. Because before Harry had landed a punch, Ginny would have turned Pinth into a flobberworm. We should just have her follow Harry around 24/7. Oops, I'm digressing again.)

I'm also concerned that Harry isn't just falling unconscious due to getting the crud beaten out of him, but that maybe another one of those Slytherins snuck a curse or hex in there.

I'm also wondering, did Severus realize that Harry was so close to a breaking point like this? Early on in the chapter, he thought back on that conversation with Poppy on letting Harry take the iniative in talking about his grief over Halloween instead of pushing it. I can't help but think if Severus was suspicious in the least that Harry was this close to a meltdown he wouldn't have let him leave the dungeon apartment yet. And if he didn't see this coming, there's going to be some big time Daddy guilt coming. Not to mention having Harry bloody and unconscious in the hospital wing. Yikes! (I don't think we'll go back to the days of Severus calling Harry an idiot for starting the brawl after the lectures about controlling his temper. Please, Severus....don't go there.)

So who gets this chapter's hug. While Harry is a mess (mentally and physically now) and no doubt needs one, I think it goes to Severus. Because he's the one who has the whole emotional lava puddle to deal with. And oh boy, I see some burns coming.

    Author's Response:

I seriously can't even write because I'm smiling so big right now!  I love you!  PK is really gonna want to copy and past this one....are you up for the challenge, PK?  :oP

All right, so I guess I can write.  LOL  I love your steak analogy...my analogy for this chapter is a total mental collapse.  LOL  That's what I was about.  I was losing it right along with Harry.  I almost couldn't finish it, I was so anxious.  Harry is having a very bad effect on my sanity. Me and Sev both!

I'm so happy you liked all those Sev lines.  And Harry being such a mother hen.  He rather is, isn't he?  Well somebody has to take care of Severus.  He can't even manage to get more than a few hours a sleep a niht and yeah, you're right.  The man is in denial, so much so that he probably doesn't realize he's afraid to go to sleep.  LOL

You caught some of my own personally favorite lines in that chappy, so yay!  Epecially Sev asking Harry about being to blame for his disagreeable habits, and telling Malfoy not to snarl at his son.  ROFL.  I love Sev.

You know, Ron never really struck me as so brave...more reluctant.  LOL

I love Hermione, but man she is a bit a crazy one.  She was exhausting me as well and yeah, she has Harry pegged right now.  OKay, so he doesn't really have that disorder but he is a wreck.  Obviously.

Ginny is perfect as Harry's focal point.  Awww.  I'm glad you enjoyed all your other warm fuzzies as well.  Severus is also just a tad mother-hennish.  LOL

    I love Neville too.

Yep, he did call him Harry.  Not surprising considering the Potter/Snape issues they are dealing with.  ;o)

Draco took on an odd twist, did it?  Hmmmm........

Yeah, Severus is seriously gone concerning Harry.  He really is loving having a son again...someone to take care of him, just like Harry said.

100 more, you say?  I'll see what I can do.  :oP  And yeah, it would probably take that long for Severus to accept Remus.

"our home."  I agree:  awwww.  What a wonderful thing for Harry to finally have.

I did enjoy that icky Voledemort/Severus part of Harry's nightmare.  *shivers*

That's what made this chapter so hard to write.  It was very nerve-wracking to watch Harry slowing cracking.  And even more so because Severus can see that Harry is not acting normal but let's face it the guy doesn't really know too much about psychology...he's standing around in complete denial himself so yeah, you're right.  He's gonna be in for a lot of guilt.  I'm glad you liked watching Harry crack though.  Oh yeah, and Ginny's noticing will be very important as well.   LOL

Yeah, he's pretty much just irritable about everything at this point.  Mt. Harry...  LOL

Hmmm....no clues as to who pulled Harry off.  But yeah, Mt. Harry certainl did blow.  Monumentally.  I don't think even Severus or Ginny could have seen that coming.  Harry's not really the type to get into fisticuffs.  Although, you may be onto something with Ginny following Harry around.  LOL

    Hmmm...why did Harry black out?

Um no, I don't think Severus will be so likely to call Harry an idiot, though I very much doubt there will be no lecture on the subject.  After the anger of course at Pinth and worry and guilt but no I can't really see Severus letting the insults fly.  Wonder how Harry will deal with the entire aftermath.....  Oh, and I can pretty much guarantee that every other student involved is going to be in pretty big trouble.  I don't think McGonagall is going to be especially pleased with the display in the corridor. Burns indeed....

Thanks for the longest review ever!  LOL  I loved it.  :o)

And snap he did. Gosh, that was intense. Understandable though, how much can one boy make? I have butterflies in my stomach, thinking about the next chapter! I'm interested to see who it was that grabbed him back from fighting and how Severus is going to deal with him.

At least all the Slytherins aren't being quite as nasty as Zabini and Pinth. The conversation with Malfoy in Potions was fantastic, I loved the layers of conversation and the tension. And yay, Severus and Remus, best friends forever! Lol not really, but I like how you portray their friendship continuing. I think Severus might surprise himself sometime soon abd be glad he has a friend in Remus.

I really feel like nagging for this next chapter, I can't wait for it. How greedy am I, when you already update so often? Anyway, happy writing for the next chapter and take care!

    Author's Response:

Don't worry...I can't really complain that you enjoy the chapter enough that you want another so soon.  LOL

Yes, Harry certainly did snap.  I'm glad you found it intense.  I had a really hard time writing it.  By the end, I was so nervous, I could barely type.  Yeah, it is understandable, though I think not everyone is going to be quite so understanding.  Yeah, the next chapter is a fun one.  You'll have to wait and see who grabbed him and yep, how Severus will deal with him.  I think the next chapter is making me even more than this one.

I'm glad you liked the Malfoy conversation.  There was a lot of tension and I lot going on in both of these boys' minds.

LOL 'best friends forever'.  Severus may yet be surprised. :o)

So happy you liked the chapter so much.  Don't worry, I won't make you wait too long for the next.  Thanks so much for reviewing.
