I rarely laugh out loud at anything but this time I couldn't help myself. That last line was fantastic! The whole chapter was pretty good. I loved the knock knock jokes and the hat thing and Neville! Oh and Hermione's restrictions! LOL Fantastic! Fred and George are my favorites and not many do them well. You did great!

    Author's Response:

Thank you!  Fred and George were great fun to write.  :)  It's amusing to think about what sort of hat they made for Snape.  I keep imagining one of those Cat in the Hat rave-style hats.  :D

I have a fondness for knock-knock jokes that break out of the normal knock-knock joke format.  As a kid, my favorite one was, "Orange you glad I didn't say banana?"

Good chapter! That's kind of harsh of Snape not letting Harry see his mum. Keep up the great work and I look forward to reading more soon!

    Author's Response:

Well, he has his reasons.  More on that later…

    Thank you for your thoughts!

There were some fantastic lines in this chapter! Among my favorite:

"Indeed," said George. "Those dungeons are dark. And cold. The sort of environment where you need protective headwear. You wouldn't happen to have any, would you Professor? A nice hat, perhaps."

"I did have," said Snape. "But one night I was low on kindling. Move along."

Tehe!!! The knock knock jokes is an interesting development in this other world. I wonder if the other Harry will introduce them?

Great chapter! I really love how Harry was maneuvered into things. Fantastically done, I hardly noticed like Harry! The rhymes in potions class, that Neville is good at potions, and that everyone expects Harry to be GOOD at them is an awesome contrast of canon. The last line was awesome, and a great way to end the chapter. I really enjoyed it. Thank you for the update!

    Author's Response:

Oh, good, I'm glad you hardly noticed the maneuvering.  That's what I was going for.  It's easy to say Snape is Slytherin, but I wanted to show it.  And not in a "Look! He's being sneaky!" way, but in a way where it's so subtle that he even manipulates the reader.  It's interactive fic!  :D  Anyway, it's about time Harry's hotheadedness allowed Snape to manipulate him into something other than a detention.

Neville having a better memory (and thus better potions skills) is a minor plot point that fit in well with a later chapter, although I didn't realize that when I was writing it.  I just tried to imagine how Snape's life spent caring for Lily and raising Harry would affect his role as a teacher.  I still don't think he's going to win any Teacher of the Year Awards, though.  :)

Thank you so much for the detailed review!

Haha I love this alternate universe, particularly the little things like the knock-knock jokes and the differences in the Potions lesson. There was so much to smile about in this chapter, like Minerva talking about changing Harry's nappy.

Can't wait for me. Happy writing!

    Author's Response:

    Thanks!

Harry wasn't too thrilled by Minerva's reminisces, was he?  ;)

An excellent chapter! I don't blame Snape for treating Harry so coldly...it's obvious that he's devistated about the 'loss' of his own Harry, hence the lack of sleep. This story is so well-written and descriptive. I love it. Can't wait for the next chapter!

    Author's Response:

Yes, Snape has a lot on his mind.  You'll get more on Snape's perspective in a later chapter.

    Thank you for your thoughts!
