Reviews For An Uncertain Future
Write on! Author's Response: Thank you so much.
Dumbledore was so awful to Harry, and it was nice to see both of them admit it, and not shy away from the discussion as often happens in other stories. Great work having Dumbledore take responsibility for his actions. I loved this line, "Dumbledore had known that one day he would have to answer to Harry, and today was judgment day...",it really summed up the scene for me and was so clear and striking. Great first chapter, I'm looking forward to the next one. Author's Response: Thanks so much. Yeah, Dumbledore knew that he'd used Harry as a tool, but he was also caught in a no-win situation. I won't reveal just yet too much about how Snape made his Horcrux. That will be explained later. Thanks for reading!
OMG! What a great start - loving it, already! ^^ Author's Response: Wow Thanks, your opinion means a lot to me DP.
Author's Response: Oh dear. I'm sorry that I only saw this now. You should send a pm to ObsidianEmbrace. I'll let her know.
Pandora, what a start to a story! I'm just shocked! In a good way mind you, so no worries. I really think I'm going to love this story too! "Snape was fed information only at intervals to keep him in line; to do Dumbledore's bidding."- for some reason this line hit me hard. It just gave me this sad, pitiful feeling, like I had watched Dumbledore lie to Snape over the years and was forced to keep quiet or something. Very powerful! Wonderful start! You've got me hooked on this one too, so I'm going on! :D Author's Response: Oh Thanks Ivy. Actually, the Horcrux was created by Voldemort's Deatheaters before Snape killed Dumbledore. Don't forget, at one time, Snape was a real Deatheater, before he became a spy, and he was not a nice person. No sugarcoating it here. But Snape did not create the Horcrux willingly; he only did so on Voldie's orders, so he was not pleased when Harry used it to bring him back. Fortunately, Snape only created one Horcrux, not like Vodie, who created seven. It's not so much the Horcrux that makes the person evil, but splitting your soul into multiple pieces can have a devastating effect on you and your soul. Thanks Ivy. I answered a challenge actually, so I can't take credit for the premise behind the story; which I thought was brilliant, and just had to write it. Dumbledore is not as bad as that line makes him sound; he had his reasons for not trusting Snape. After all, the man was a Deatheater, and for all Dumbledore knew, he was not to be trusted. He did start out truly believing Voldemorts doctrines on Pureblood racism, so Dumbledore was not going to trust him fully with not only a vulnerable child of the light, like Harry, but with the future of the Wizarding World.
Dumbledore knew that Snape loved Lily, and was remorseful for his part in her death, but he really didn't know to what extent the man was sorry for his part in Voldemort's destruction. Even if Snape did not enjoy killing, and only did so because he would have been killed himself, does not change the fact that he is not a saint. While Dumbledore made many mistakes in this story, I do not wiish him to be portray as really evil, just a little eccentric and slightly manipulative.
Thanks Ivy, and I'm looking forward to your next chappie too.
-P.G. Author's Response: Thank you so much! Coming from you, that's an honour! Yeah, learning Snape is your father musnt' be easy to swallow!
Author's Response: Oh, thank you so much for reviewing. I should be updating in the next couple of days!
Liked the Dumble bashing. Mila Author's Response: Thanks Mila! But I can't take the credit for the idea, that belongs to Slytherlynx who issued the challenge. I just had to respond to the challenge because I thought the idea was really creative and original. I like the idea of exploring how a Horcrux can alter your personality, and how Dark Magic can play havoc with your soul. The idea was so fascinating to me, and opened up many possibilities for the plot! Sorry Dumbledore, but it IS fun to bash him a little. But, despite that I still like Dumbledore, so I won't be too harsh with him! ;)
Author's Response: Oh, I'm sorry if that wasn't clear. I thought I did mention Voldie's defeat when Harry was contemplating how much he had been through in the past couple of days. I didn't mean to confuse you though. I hope though that you will continue to read and hopefully I will be a little more coherant in my writing. It is my first attempt at writing a story, so I appreciate readers pointing out little things like that so that I can make sure that I avoid those pitfalls in the next chapter. Thank you for taking the time to review, and hopefully your questions will be answered in the next couple of chapters.
Author's Response: Yeah, Harry was definitely angry with Dumbledore. I always felt too, that Dumbledore should have made more of an effort to make sure that Harry as properly cared for at the Dursley's. Yes...Dumbledore has played Harry and Snape like chess peices! Thanks for taking the time to review, it means alot to me. |
