Reviews For An Uncertain Future
Author's Response: Thank you so much for your review Ashley. No Snape isn't going to stay dead, but Harry might wish he had! At least at first! ;)
Author's Response: Thank you for you review, and I promise I'll do my best to keep going! This whole experience is new for me, but I'm enjoying it.
It looks as if there is to be a lot of tension with Dumbledore, too. I have such mixed feelings about Dumbledore. I generally do like him, but I strongly disagree with some of his decisions, regarding Harry in particular, and I get angry and upset with him at times, too. As for your Dumbledore, I feel upset with him for keeping the truth from Severus and Harry for so long, but I guess I'll wait and read more about his thinking and reasoning. I guess I can understand that DD thought Severus would be incapable of caring for a child at the time of Lily's death...but I don't believe that myself, and I can't help but feel that A) DD should have also recognised that having a child of his and Lily's could have greatly eased Severus' grief and given him a reason to go on, and B) it really wasn't DD's decision to make. Also, the whole reasoning behind Harry's staying with the Dursleys was the blood wards, but couldn't blood wards have worked if he were with Severus, too? Well, I love this story already, and I'm eagerly looking forward to the next chapter! Author's Response: Thank you for your nice words Kristeh, and coming from someone with your talent, it is an honour. Of course, it will be a long time before I could ever write anything as well-written as Slave Child (which I absolutely adore, btw!). I have mixed feelings about- Dumbledore too. He placed Harry in danger too many times to count, but I think that he really did believe that Severus was consumed with grief, and would have been hard pressed to take care of an infant. On the other hand...just think what comfort he would have had in the knowledge that the woman he loved had given him such a precious gift. Perhaps Severus wouldn't have become the vindictive, cruel man that he was, had he had something to live for. Also, don't forget that at that time Dumbledore was not even sure of Snape's loyalties. Remember that Snape had just admitted being responsible for relaying the contents of the Prophecy to Voldemort. Also, he didn't care about Harry or James being spared from death at first either. It really bothers me as well that Dumbledore turned a blind eye to Harry's treatment with the Dursleys. I have always thought that Dumbledore must have had some inkling, and chose to ignore it. Right now, Harry has alot to deal with and for the time-being, it's not going to get any easier. But, we'll see what the future holds for him and Snape...
Author's Response: Thank you! I hope you will stick with it. It is my first story so I am trying to improve as I go along.
This is a very nice beginning for a Snape is Harry's Dad story, as well as very original. I loved it when Harry shook Dumbledore's portrait to wake him up. Your choice of Severus' Potions textbook for his horcrux is perfect! I am definitely looking forward to reading more. Author's Response: Oops! You're right. Be back in a sec....ok, I changed it! ;) Thank you for reviewing! I can't take the credit for the idea, as it was a challenge, but I hope that I am adding something original to it!
Author's Response: Is that good or bad? :o I suppose if I got your attention, even if you hate it, it shows that I got you thinking! ;) Thanks for taking the time to review! :)
Author's Response: Thank you for your review. It's a response to a challenge, and I'm hope I'm up to it! ;)
Your story sounds pretty good so far. I'm Canadian too, and I use "I'll have to process this" all the time. You could check the Oxford English Dictionary if you're really concerned whether or not that phrase is British or American. Anyway, I'm looking forward to your next chapter! ;-) Author's Response: Thank you for your review Shannon. I use that phrase all the time too, and we Canadians use mostly British spelling, but I'm not sure about our terminology. I curious as to where in Canada you live. I live in Montreal. if you noticed Lesley, who is from Australia has said that she uses this expression, as well. Australians use many British terms--so I will be checking that out. I wanted the story to be as true to form as much as possible.
Author's Response: Thank you Snapegirl. This is my first story and there is bound to be room for improvement. Well as far as the Horcrux goes, even if Harry uses the Horcrux to bring Snape back, he may get more than he bargained for!
I wonder why Harry went back into the pensieve after the battle was over and won. Did he just want to see his mum again perhaps? And I am also concerned that HArry didn't seem to be upset in the least that JAmes Potter has just been cast in the role of a support character in his life, rather than a lead one. I would think that would be a major cause of distress. And HArry hasn't questioned why Snape was still as nasty as he ever was for the rest of fifth year and all of the sixth, even after finding out that Harry was his son The horcrux is very interesting...to think that Harry handled the thing for a whole year without knowing its biggest secret. I'm sorry that you've had to turn DD into the bad guy, but obviously you did have to. I hate DD being a bad guy. Looking forward to the next chapter. Lesley Author's Response: Thank you Lesley. I was kind of wondering about that statement beting labled as an Americanism too. I will explain later why Harry went into the Pensieve to begin witth, and why he is not as angry as he might be, about James not being his father. As far as Harry having the book for a year and not realising that it was a Horcrux, well...alot of these questions will be answered later. But, remember how angry Snape was when he realised that Harry had used his spell on Malfoy. He was starting to suspect that Harry had the book at that point. It made him very nervous. Dont worry about Dumbledore being the bad guy. Harry is just angry right now; he will eventually realise that Dumbledore only did what he thought was right to protect him. After all, Dumbledore didn't know the extent of the abuse that Harry suffered at the hands of the Dursley's, nor did he truly believe that Severus was capable of bringing up a child alone, without Lily. |
