Reviews For An Uncertain Future
Yes...Albus Dumbledore had placed his prodigy in harm's way more often than Severus cared to count. Got it in one Snape! :) A bit of constructive criticism: I felt that some of the italics in the characters speech became a bit gratuitous here, before you had a really well balanced out sense of emphasis on their words, here it was a bit over the top. Uh oh, McGonagall's here. But she heard what he said, so I'm not that concerned, although I look forward to seeing your take on their relationship. :) Another great chapter. Author's Response: Thank you.
Yeah, this was my first story, and I did go a little overboard with the italics. As you see, I did cut back drastically as the story progressed.
Author's Response: Yikes, I feel so honoured! You read this story till 3 in the morning. wow. Thanks so much. Yeah, love writing cliffies (I'm evil). I don't so much like reading them from other authors though! I have a double standard. LOL! Just kidding. I love cliffies because they keep you on edge.
I feel so bad for both Harry and Snape in this one. They just don't know what to do. Harry's disappointed and feeling rejected while Severus is still guilty and bitter. Poor boys! My heart's bleeding for them both! "he had been living on the edge for so long, that the prospect of normalcy seemed foreign to him."- I think that this is very true for Snape. I often wondered how his life would have really been like had he lived. It would be such a switch, wouldn't it? And it'd be terrifying! To crave this statue all your adult life, to want it so badly you hurt, but then finally accept your fate only to be given what you wanted so quickly you can't even appreciate the gift, as it only makes you bitter in away...do know what I'm saying or am I just rambling? Fantastic chapter Pandora! But I'll have to read on tomorrow as it's late and I have early classes. Expect more from me later! :D Author's Response: Oh, I think that you put it beautifully Ivy. Snape had accepted death, and was actually awaiting it with welcome arms, so it was a bit of a disappointment to him that he wouldn't be reunited in death with Lily and now he 's faced with a life with a son that he doesn't know, and since he's never been very good at dealing with emotions, he lashes out at Harry as the source of his ambigious emotions.
Yes, Snape would never admit that he's scared would he?
Thanks Ivy, your reviews mean a lot to me. I can't wait for an update from you too! :) Any story of yours will do; I love them all!
Author's Response: Oh, I'll have to go back and correct that. Oops. Yeah, what do snakes have. Ooh, "fangs"! Yes...I'll change it to fangs. Thanks for the suggestion, and thanks for reading.
Author's Response: There goes Snape's plans to keep this whole "incident' as quiet as possible!
poor harry he was really expecting snape to be teh guy he was years ago...he had completely forgotten everything snapes been through and healing it requires. .. Author's Response: You know Missy, that is really the crux of the matter. Snape has been through a very traumatic experience himself, and everyone is forgetting this! He can't just suddenly be someone else. He has been conditioned to be hard, strong and keep his emotions to himself. He needed to be tough to survive. After all, he has witnessed some horrible things as a Deatheater. A weaker person would have fallen apart. Harry is still very young and naive in some ways, even though he has lived through some horrific experiences. But they both need time. Harry has to be patient, but that is not easy for him! At least he has the support and love of his friends, and Ginny.
Looking forward to the next chapter! Author's Response: Thank you for your review. I will take your suggestions into consideration. I hadn't meant to use italics too much to emphasize, only as an indication of Harry's thoughts. I have just noticed your review now, so I did not take into consideration for chapter five, but I will definitely see if I can work on that. As far as plot moving rather fast, do you mean that Harry brought Snape back too fast? It would be really helpful if you would clarify that for me, so I can see where I might be speeding it up too fast. This is my first story, so I'm bound to need improvement, and I will take your constructive critisicm to heart, and hopefully improve my writing. That's how we learn, is it not? By other's experience. Thank you.
Author's Response: Hee Hee, McGonagall has a few cards up her sleeve! He doesn't stand a chance against her determination! Thanks for taking the time to review!
Author's Response: Yeah, she's a little flustered...to say the least! ;) If there is one person who can put Sev in his place...it's Minerva! ;)
There is no softening of Snape whatsoever. I am surprised that Snape's body was still in the shrieking shack...I would have thought t=one of the first things Harry would do, before taking a leisurely stroll back down memory lane, would have been to bring Snapes body back to the castle to be lain with all of the others who had fought for the side of the light. I was glad to see that you bought Ginny into Harry's thoughts. I thought you might be leaving her out. And how come Scrimgoeur is still alive...did you say somewhere that he would be? I couldn't see any notes to that effect. Kingsley was made interim MoM in canon. He would have been more sympathetic to Harry's claim that Severus is innocent. Looking forward to what will happen next, though I think things are not going to go well for either Harry or Sev. Lesley Author's Response: OOps! You got me! I completely forgot that Scrimgeour died! Ok, well consider this a warning that Scrimgeour is back! Yikes! I guess I'd had better go back and reread DH! Thanks for catching that! Actually, I suppose it is just as well that I made that error, because it just would have been too easy if Kingsley were the Minister, wouldn't it? Is anything EVER easy in fanficland? ;) Well, Harry went almost directly into the Pensieve after defeating Voldemort, because he was in shock, and felt a mixture of grief, happiness and lonliness. He just wanted to see his parents and feel close to them. Unfortunately, he got more than he bargained for! Perhaps if Harry had not seen the memories, he would have thought to retrieve Snape's body immediately. We do not always think clearly when we are in a state of shock. Yes, Snape is a really ungrateful bastard in this story. But, don't worry...he'll lighten up...eventually! It will be a rocky road though, and Sev is a hard nut to crack. Harry did take an awful risk in dabbling in Dark Magic, but we all know how impestuous Harry can be. Gotta love him! His only thought was to reward Snape for risking his life for him, and having loved his mother so deeply. Unfortunately...Snape did not apprectiate the gift that he was given. Yes Lesley, Ginny will play a major part in this story. You and Tabitha have inspired me with your hot and heavy scenes between her and Harry. Although, I must warn you that Ginny will not be pleased at the transformation that Harry undergoes, and things will not be all rosy for the two. But, they will eventually work out their differences! I'm a romantic at heart, after all! ;) Phew, ok, I'm long-winded, aren't I? Thanks for your review! I'm looking forward to YOUR next updates on SS & the Muggle, and Shocking Discovery! ;) Can't wait!
