And the man's fondness for lemon drops and other such sugary confections, had Severus convinced that the man's manic state was spurred on by a persistent sugar rush.

*snorts* ROFL And even as a portrait, he's still eating his lemon drops! lol

Love overprotective!Snape, of course. Good chapter. ^^

    Author's Response:

Yeah, this this scene was fun to write!

    Thanks for reading DP.

Okay, sorry I haven't read for a while, but this weekend's been CRAZY! Started up another job, so I'll have less time on my hands now. :( But at least I'll get paid! ^_^ Always look on the bright side of life I suppose... but anywho, on with the review!!!

“A little decorum, if you will. This is a hospital, not a brothel,” he said snidely.-Bwahahahahahahaha! XD That was too funny! Poor Ginny, caught in the middle, her boyfriend not caring and bf's father caring A LOT. XD Priceless. I couldn't help but laugh here.

"Severus nodded his head. He flushed slightly at the compliment. He was quite unused to receiving them, after all." OMGosh!! That's way sweet and cute, and kinda sad! The image that came to my mind was kinda like the one from Sense and Sensibility where Colonel Brandon (Alan)blushes and smiles when Marrianne wants him to come back to read to her. It was precious!! Love that line to death!!

    “I hate you...you know that?”
“It breaks my heart,” Severus drawled.-HAHAHA! XD That whole scene was great! I just loved it, and could see the sarcastic face Snape would make while Harry's just scowling. Perfect!!

"Severus was quite content wallowing in his perpetual nastiness"- this was kinda sad, but kinda made me happy, does that make sense? It's like he knows what works so why change? It made me grin all over the place here!

This was one of the best chapters yet Pandora! I loved Severus's concern over Harry, even though Harry's still not quite with it yet, but at least Ginny and Hermione see how hard Sev's trying. I'm sure once Harry gets all healed up and better, he'll understand and appreciate everything much more. Oh! And the line where Severus is outraged that anyone would think HIS son is out of his mind was cute. Protective Sevvie= adorable Sevvie. XD (I'm going to have to go into hinding if he heard me say that)

But me thinks Draco's in for a time now! Run little ferret, RUN!! ^_^

Fantastic chappie Pandora! I'll try to read more later on!!

    Author's Response:

Aw, that was a lovely review Ivy. Thank you so much.

Severus is so fun to write. Those lines, really did come out of his mouth. He just wrote himself. :)

Yeah, Severus is trying, but it's not easy for the poor man after years of hiding behind the mask.

Ooh, I love that line about Draco. You are too funny.  "Run little ferret. Run!!"

Thank you Ivy, and I'm so anxious for an update from you.

Oh, I'm glad that Severus knows that Draco is eavesdropping and is the one who spilled the beans. At least he'll know to be careful and keep an eye on the little ferret. It would be pretty funny if somehow Severus and Harry could stage a conversation and deliberately have Draco overhear it and embarrass himself in some way.

I loved the beginning, how concerned Severus was for Harry and Harry is beginning to see it too, though they're both still very prickly and snide with one another, aren't they?

Loved Albus with his eternal candy, and I think Slughorn is a logical choice for Severus to consult with. Of course Severus and Albus are experts...but Slughorn is also very learned on the subject. As you pointed out, Tom Riddle did go to him to learn about horcruxes. Slughorn being intelligent doesn't take anything away from Severus or Albus, just that he might know a different solution or be able to present a different perspective.

Looking forward to the next chapter!

    Author's Response:

Ooh, I love your idea!  I might just use it!  If you dont' mind that is!  That would be too funny.  The only drawback is that if Snape informs Harry that Draco is possibly responsible for leaking the news to the press, and causing havoc, Harry might take matters into his own hands and do something reckless and foolish.  This is Harry being controlled by Dark Magic after all.  Do we really want to hand him another reason to put himself in possible danger of ending up in Azkaban?  But your idea is brilliant though.  Hmm...worth considering!

Yeah, I love the  banter between the two of them.  It makes for fireworks but it is kind of fun having the two of them try to one-up each other with harmless insults, even though it is obvious that they are both using it to hide their real feelings!

Albus certainly has a sweet tooth, and can even manage to indulge his passion while beyond the Veil! Severus and Albus are very knowledgeable about the Dark Arts, but since Albus is stuck in a portrait, the physical presence, and fountain of knowledge that Slughorn possesses, as well as his familiarity with Riddle, will certainly not hurt to help Severus and Harry.  Perhaps he can add some input and insight into how to reverse the effects of Dark Magic.  Three heads are better than one!! ;)

Good story. It's difficult to make Snape change into a caring father when he is starting off as such a totally nasty piece of work, but you are doing a good job. I did find one statement jarring though -- that Snape always lived up to his responsibilities. Didn't he think that Harry was a responsibility? Why could he ignore that responsibility for so long?

I hope Harry becomes less mouthy towards Snape too. It makes it difficult for me, at least, to like Harry much when he is so consistently rude towards Snape. No matter how much reason he has.
Well written story. I'm looking forward to updates.

    Author's Response:

Thank you.  Yes Snape has to get past the shields that he's built up over the years, to protect his psyche from the horrors that he's witnessed while being in Voldemort's circle.  Now, he has to realise that he doesn't have to hide his feelings anymore, and that he can allow himself to care for Harry.  Unfortunately, it's just not that easy.  How do you change such ingrained behaviour?  It's just not going to happen overnight.  I do think though that when Harry was hurt, it brought to the surface some instinctual paternal instinct to protect his son. Snape is trying to fight his feelings, because he has been conditioned to think that to allow himself to feel affection for Harry, will somehow make him weak.  On the other hand, he knows that he must make an effort to be a father to Harry, not only for himself, but for Lily's sake. So the end result, is a raging battle within him.  This is why we are seeing such a roller-coaster of emotions from Snape.

As for the reference to responsibiiity, I think he feels more a responsibility towards Draco and his Slytherins.  Also, feeling responsibility for Harry, is not necessarily a bad thing, as long as it is fueled by deeper emotions, and it is obvious that Snape feels much more than just a duty to take care of his son, despite his attempts to deny it to himself and Harry!

Yeah Harry, is being quite mouthy and defiant, but there are two factors at work here. First of all, Snape treated him very badly for many years, and Snape can be very controlling at times.  Harry is afraid to allow himself open to possible rejection again.  Also, the Dark Magic is partially responsible for some of his snotty attitude.

Thanks very much for taking the time to read my story, and especially making the effort to review.  It is very much appreciated.

Great chapter! I loved how Severus was all concerned over Harry and how Harry liked it, even if he doesn't want to say so. And Poppy is right, Snape is a good man and Harry is lucky to have him for a father, even if he can be overprotective as all hell, LOL!

I liked how Severus laughed at Harry's comment and how happy he was to hear his son speak, even if it was cheeky.

Loved the talk with Albus and the candy, where DID he get it?

Slughorn hmm? He seemes to know an awful lot about dark magic,. Was he once a Death Eater too?

    Author's Response:

Thanks.  Yeah Harry would never admit to liking Snape's concern; he's a "man" after all, and macho men do not like having their father's coddle them!! Well, if you could call Snape's concern "coddling"!

Snape may be a nasty git at times, but he's a good man underneath that layer of prickly thorns!  Wouldn't mind Snape as a protector; no one would dare cross him!

I think that Severus would have been have gladly put up with just about anything that came out of Harry's mouth, so long as his son would be fine.

LOL! Albus and his candies.  Someone probably smuggled them in, or he's got a secret supplier of candies in the afterworld!  Trust Albus to find a way!

I don't think that Slughorn was a Death Eater, but he was, I believe Severus' Head of House, and he is very knowledgeable about Horcruxes, so having him and Albus on his side, will definitely help Severus heal Harry.

Lol, that's probably the first time he ever said thank you to old Dumbley--shocking, indeed. Not nearly as shocking as Snape's kind behavior towards Harry and his friends. I like that you've made his behavior erratic though, as if he can't decide quite how to act at times because he's torn between his old feelings and new ones. Very complex--I like it!

    -P.G.

My favorite line in this chapter was "This is a hospital, not a brothel." LOL! That one was awesome!

    Author's Response:

Yeah, that's why Dumbleydore was dumbfounded!  Gratitude from the snarky git of the dungeons!  Unheard of!

Snape is really having a difficult time coming to terms with his feelings.  They are really foreign to him, so he's fighting against them, while giving into them at the same time.  He's certainly making it very difficult for everyone to know what to expect next. Will he bite their head off, or will he perform a kind act out of the blue; who knows, so everyone's walking on eggshells with him!

Oh, I'm glad that you like that line; I just thought that it was something Snape would say.

Yep, Sev is definitely suffering from the malady all parents suffer from...unrelenting worry. It doesn't matter how old your kids are.

Harry is definitely being a hard case, but I suppose tht has something to do with the dark magic inhabiting him.

Slughorn huh? I wonder how he can be more expert in dark arts than Severus or Albus.

    Lesley~

    Author's Response:

Yes, Severus won't admit it out loud, but reality has hit him smack dab in the face.  He has a son, and with fatherhood comes worry and a feeling of responsibility; no matter how hard Sev tries to forget that fact.

Harry perhaps could be a little more responsive to Sev's efforts, but that wouldn't be any fun, would it! Severus deserves a little bit of a hard time for the way that he treated Harry.  Maybe, just maybe, they'll both learn to come to terms with their new relationship, and both make comprimises.

Well, I know that both Severus and Dumbledore are both knowledgeable in Defence, and Severus in the Dark Arts, but Slughorn has had past experience with Horcruxes, and Tom Riddle himself went to Slughorn for advice on how to create one, and Dumbledore did consult with him also, when he wanted to learn more.  Also, Slughorn was Severus' teacher as well, wasn't he?  And Head of House, so perhaps he could offer a new perspective on the matter.  I think that Severus, while a very intelligent knowledgeable man, is too close to the situation to be objective right now, and Albus is merely a portrait, so I think a fresh point of view would be beneficial to Severus and Harry. Besides, maybe Slughorn can act as a referee between stubborn Harry and hard-headed Severus!!

I'm going to read your new story, now that I have the internet, (or sort of) at home.  I'm anxious also for updates on your other two.  I hope also Lesley that things have calmed down a bit for you with regards to the wildfires, and I'm praying for you and your countrymen (and women)!

thank you new chapter.i love snape and harry scenes.im glad their relationship grown up.but i hope you not snape adopt draco.snape is adopt draco in all snape is harry' father stories.its really ordinary and boring.
i hope snape don't act soft with draco.i really don't like him.
and slughorn.he is very funny man.maybe if snape talk to slughorn about harry, snape see actually harry looks like lily.

Author's Response: Please don't worry!  I have no intention in making this a Snape adopts Draco story.  Draco will become less prominent as the story goes on.  He is merely a thorn in their side.  The story revolves around Harry and Snape.  Period.  Oh, and of course Ginny, Hermione and Ron!!  But mostly Sev and Harry!
