Oh, no. I knew that was gonna happen. >.< Harry is never leaving Snape's sight again. And are those months' worth of horrid, disgusting detentions I see in his future?

Nice chapter, though, I do find myself wondering just what those dreams are all about...

    Author's Response:

    LOl

    Yeah, he's in BIG trouble!

To quote a certain caretaker and squib, "OOOhh, we ARE in trouble!" Great chapter as always. Can't wait for chap 23.

    Author's Response:

Yeah, Harry likes to push his limits, doesn't he?

    Thanks. Working on it.

    Uh-oh...

So, I really enjoyed Harry's talk with Snape, even though it turned out to be more of Harry trying to console Snape than vice versa. It was sweet, but not too sentimental. Nice work--I look forward to the next part!

    -P.G.

    Author's Response:

Yeah, Harry did console Snape, didn't he?!

    Thanks.

I liked how Severus handled Harry's nightmares, he was consoling and sympathetic. I also liked how Harry told Severus that he was better than he thought he was. It seems to me that Severus still carries an awful lot of guilt for his past actions. He needs to learn to forgive himself.

I had to laugh at the grades bit, that's a typical dad thing and Harry had better get used to someone critquing his performance, because parents do that until you're out of college and then they tell you about how you need to get a better job. It never ends, LOL!

OMG, those kids are all so DEAD. Does Hogwarts have an illegal drug and alcohol policy like US schools? I know that Europe has no legal drinking age, but I'm sure they don;t encourage kids drinking like that.

I can;t believe Harry would drink again after Severus's discussion with him last time at Grimmauld Place. And as for the drug use . . .that is not good either. I wish he had followed Hermione and Ginny and left the party. That was a poor decision on his part and Severus is going to be livid.

Harry might not live to be twenty!

Where on earth did they get marijuana?

    Author's Response:

Severus does carry a tremendous amount of guilt around with him, and needs someone to remind him that he deserves to be forgiven.  That the past is the past.

Snape would be apalled if anyone told him that he was acting a typical father. Snape would not want his son to be anything less than perfect, he would take it personally!  Also, he does care about Harry and wants him to suceed.

Lets for the purposes of this story, pretend that the legal age to drink, vote ecetera, in the Wizarding World is seventeen, and that includes drinking. But Hogwarts has a strict, no drinking, no smoking and no illegal drugs of any kind on school premises, policy.  Of age students may of course have a drink, within reason, in a drinking establishment, but as they represent the school, they are expected to comport themselves with dignity and discretion.

Seamus and Ron bought the liquor in Hogsmeade; they are of age of course, but snuck it back into Hogwarts. The Muggle drugs were something that Seamus and Ron got talked into buying. Seamus has never used drugs before, and Ron, being unfamiliar with Muggle drugs, had no idea what he was getting into.  He thought that they were just harmless fags with a bit of a kick.  Both Seamus and Ron are a little naive.

Severus has a particular aversion to alcohol because of his father.  He does have some in his quarters, but very rarely drinks.  If he does, it is usually only a glass of wine with his meal, or a small glass of whiskey from time to time before he goes to bed.  He is very rigid in that regard--both with himself and with Harry. Tobias' father had also been an alcoholic, at least in this story, and Severus was determined to break the cycle, and now his son is playing with fire.

Yes, Harry is testing his father's limits, isn't he?

I've just found this story and I am really enjoying it. Somehow, this softer Snape is much more believable than many I've seen and the dialogue is very well written.

    Thanks for the great story!

Author's Response: Oh thank you very much.

    Uh oh!! Harry's in trouble!!

I would think Ron would also be trouble!!

    Maybe he needs a howler!!

    9/10

    Author's Response:

Oh, yes. Molly is famous for those isn't she?  That's a great idea. Hmm....That would be too funny.  Thanks for the suggestion. I think that I'll embarass Ron in the next chappie.

Oh, yeah...Harry's in trouble big time.  An angry Snape is definitely not a good thing. :)

Wonderful chapter, Pandora! I'm always so happy to see when you've updated.

I love this chapter because I think Harry is really getting to see the good and not-so-good parts of having a father.

The first part of the chapter just had me melting...it was such a beautiful scene with those two, and shows how far they have come. I was so happy that Harry overcame his hesitation and doubt and actually went to Severus for help and comfort. And I was even happier that Severus really came through for him. He was so patient and concerned, it is obvious to me that he truly loves his son now and maybe he doesn't quite realize it yet, but I think the time is coming when he will realize how grateful and happy he is that Harry gave him this second chance...at life, at being a father and having a family. It's something that I don't believe Severus ever had before so he didn't really know what it meant to have a family. But now he does and it is slowly but surely affecting him.

I'm so worried about those dreams though...they sound so ominous. I don't blame Harry one little bit for being sick. First Voldemort, then Dark Magic, now this...poor kid never catches a break, does he?

I loved the conversation when Severus showed Harry that his Dark Mark was gone. You did a great job showing how haunted Severus is by the past, and showing Harry's forgiving and generous nature. Btw, I noticed that Severus called Harry 'Potter' at one point and wondered if that was deliberate, cause Harry really isn't a Potter here.

I grinned when Severus was scolding Harry about his grades...yep, typical dad there.

And then the party...I think that scene was exactly what you'd planned! Seamus is just quite the wild child, isn't he? Maybe Severus needs to take him in hand...Seamus' mum doesn't seem the type to be pleased at his behavior, lol.

So the girls left and Severus shows up soon afterwards...hmm? If they did go tell, I bet Ron and Harry are not going to be too pleased with them! And yep, Harry, this isn't very good at all!

    I'm so eager for more!

    Author's Response:

Thank you Kristeh, and I'm so anxious for a chapter from YOU!  Yeah, It's nice to have a father to lean on and care for you, but then they have expectations that you're not used to fulfilling either. You have someone to believe in you, but you also have someone to be disappointed in you if you screw up. But I'm sure that Harry feels that the positive far outways the negative.

I think that Severus is finally beginning to see the benefits also of being a father, but is scared at the realsation of the responsibility of having a child; even a very nearly grown child can give you grey hairs, and Severus is  realising that a teenager can be more trouble than a young child.

But on the other side of the coin, Severus is also coming to care deeply for Harry, but is not quite sure how to show it. He's just not comfortable with physical displays of affection. Actually, he's not comfortable with any displays of emotion at all. But Harry, thankfully, senses how Severus really feels.  It's just the little things that Harry notices. Severus doesn't have to fall all over Harry, for Harry to know that he cares.

Yeah, that conversation was very important in their relationship. Although Severus was initially pleased and felt forgiven for his sins, upon further introspection, he decided that simply losing his mark, and Dark Magic scars that adorned his body, don't absolve him of his crimes. He can't let go of his guilt.

Severus calling Harry, Potter, is something that happened subconciously because Severus was annoyed with him and in the past when Severus was angry with Harry, he associated the boy with James.  Severus didn't even realise that he did it.

Yeah, I thought a litle Severus acting like a typical father and demanding his son do well in school would be another sign that their relationship is progressing beyond student and pupil.

Ooh, the party...Well Seamus is not toally to blame here. Ron had a good part in it, and Seamus and Ron were both taken in by some older boys who made them think that Marijuana was cool.  Ron especilally, is not too knowledgeable about Muggle Drugs.

Well, I think that whether the girls told Severus about the party or not, Severus would have eventually figured it out or possiblly McGonagal, from the steady stream of students leaving the portrait hole to Gryffindor Tower! They had put a silencing charm so that the noise would not be heard outside of the Tower, but it would still have been suspicious when students of all ages, and Houses were coming and going from Gryffindor, and some of said students were a little inebriated.

Yeah, not too good at all Harry!

I'll try to update soon. :)

    Thanks Kristeh.

Oh, wow...way, way out of hand. Booze AND drugs. Did Ginny go and get Snape?

And Seamus...a druggie. WHy are boys so out of control. Why can't they look before they leap. I know Harry just wanted to forget, but now he has a whole new slew of problems.

    Great chapter.

    Lesley~

    Author's Response:

I don't think that anyone planned for things to get so out of control, but someone has a big mouth and spread the word among the students, so that not only Gryffindors are prsent, but some Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws too!

Well, Seamus is not really a druggie, but was persuaded himself to have a puff.  Don't forget that most of these kids are Wizards and some, like Ron, have no experience with the danger of Muggle drugs, or the fact that they are illegal in the Muggle world.

Well, Harry has never been one to think before leaping, now has he? Everyone kept handing him a drink, and after the first one or so, he lost some of his good sense and any control that he had left.  The joint well...Seamus was enjoying the feeling of it, so he just basically stuck it in Harry's mouth.  Hary didn't really have more than a puff or two before Hermione pulled it out of his mouth.  He didn't have particularly have the strength at that point to resist Seamus.

Thanks, and I loved the most recent chappie of Shocking Discovery. I really can't wait for the next one, oh and it's been a while for Severus Snape and the Muggle too! Oh and Finding Ginny has me enraptured.  There just wasn't enough Ginny and Harry in the new movie!

Ha! Caught. Brilliant chapter well done. I'm loving how this fic has developed from what I thought would be a sub standard story to being one of my favourites so quickly, Well done. Keep up the great work and post soon
