snape is cold heart.if he doesnt love or accept to harry, why he say "son"?
how much chapter your story? can you say please.because im worried when snape beginning soft opposite to harry.

Author's Response: Snape has just been through a great shock, and he's very angry with Harry for using Dark Magic to bring him back, because no one knows better than Snape, the dangers of dabbling in Dark Magic.  I'm not sure how many chapters the story will be, but don't worry, Snape will eventually come to see Harry as more of a son.  However, this does not mean that Snape will suddenly turn into father-of-the year; there will be many stumbling blocks along the way.  Snape is by nature, very reserved, and discipline, so it is very doubtful that he will easily be able to show emotion easily towards Harry, but the effort will eventually be there.

    Whoa... I didn't anticipate Snape's venom! Yikes!

By the way, "ingredient" has an "e" for its last vowel, not an "a".

Did you find out whether or not that phrase was American or British? I'm curious...

Anyway, great chapter. I'm looking forward to the next one!

And, in answer to your question, I live in Edmonton. ;-)

    Author's Response:

Thanks for pointing that out Shannon, I will go and fix it. I live in Quebec, so perhaps because ingrediants is spelt with an e in French, maybe I wasn't thinking! ;)

Yes, I consulted with someone who has a friend from England, and Deco is indeed correct that it was not a common British term, especially for a teenager. It is apparantly starting to be used a little more now, but during the timeframe that the Wizarding world seems to live in it would not be something that Harry would spontaneously say.

Yes, Snape is quite pissed off that Harry used Dark Magic to bring him back. Dark Magic has caused Snape to lose everything precious to him, and the creatiion of the Horcrux itself is something that causes him alot of pain.  Snape is not particularly nice in this story, but as time goes along, perhaps he will soften up towards Harry a bit.

Thank you for your review, and it's always nice to talk to another Canadian! ;)

Wow! You've got me! Pray do continue...

    Author's Response:

I get very frustrated when a story is not finished, so barring any unforseen catastrophe, I will do my best to finish it to the end!

Thank you for your review! ;)

By the way Shannon, I got confused with the a & e thing in ingredient.  I'll go check, can't remember "what" I did anymore!  ;)  i'll go consult my dictionary!  Sometimes it's hard because some words we spell the same as the British, and others we don't.  And my Beta is American, so some spellings are different for her too.

Dawn! This story is GREAT!!! I can't wait to find out what happens next, I'm so happy that Snape isn't going to stay dead! It will be very interesting to find out how Snape and Harry's relationship turns out.

Author's Response: Thank you so much for your review Ashley.  No Snape isn't going to stay dead, but Harry might wish he had!  At least at first! ;)

What a brilliant beginning! I love the originality and I can't wait for Harry to find a way to contact his father (he will surely find a way, won't he?).

It looks as if there is to be a lot of tension with Dumbledore, too. I have such mixed feelings about Dumbledore. I generally do like him, but I strongly disagree with some of his decisions, regarding Harry in particular, and I get angry and upset with him at times, too. As for your Dumbledore, I feel upset with him for keeping the truth from Severus and Harry for so long, but I guess I'll wait and read more about his thinking and reasoning.

I guess I can understand that DD thought Severus would be incapable of caring for a child at the time of Lily's death...but I don't believe that myself, and I can't help but feel that A) DD should have also recognised that having a child of his and Lily's could have greatly eased Severus' grief and given him a reason to go on, and B) it really wasn't DD's decision to make.

Also, the whole reasoning behind Harry's staying with the Dursleys was the blood wards, but couldn't blood wards have worked if he were with Severus, too?

Well, I love this story already, and I'm eagerly looking forward to the next chapter!

    Author's Response:

Thank you for your nice words Kristeh, and coming from someone with your talent, it is an honour.  Of course, it will be a long time before I could ever write anything as well-written as Slave Child (which I absolutely adore, btw!).

I have mixed feelings about- Dumbledore too.  He placed Harry in danger too many times to count, but I think that he really did believe that Severus was consumed with grief, and would have been hard pressed to take care of an infant. On the other hand...just think what comfort he would have had in the knowledge that the woman he loved had given him such a precious gift.  Perhaps Severus wouldn't have become the vindictive, cruel man that he was, had he had something to live for.  Also, don't forget that at that time Dumbledore was not even sure of Snape's loyalties.  Remember that Snape had just admitted being responsible for relaying the contents of the Prophecy to Voldemort.  Also, he didn't care about Harry or James being spared from death at first either.

It really bothers me as well that Dumbledore turned a blind eye to Harry's treatment with the Dursleys.  I have always thought that Dumbledore must have had some inkling, and chose to ignore it.

Right now, Harry has alot to deal with and for the time-being, it's not going to get any easier.  But, we'll see what the future holds for him and Snape...

Oh yes, oh yes, nicely done indeed. I shall be watching for more.

    Author's Response:

Thank you!  I hope you will stick with it.  It is my first story so I am trying to improve as I go along.

Very nicely done. The only thing I wanted to ask you about is the phrase "--Snape had been assuring his own mortality--". Didn't you mean for it to say "Snape had been assuring his own immortality?" He didn't need to assure his mortality (that was already assured) what he wants to do is to make sure he could come back. that's the only quibble I had.

This is a very nice beginning for a Snape is Harry's Dad story, as well as very original. I loved it when Harry shook Dumbledore's portrait to wake him up.

Your choice of Severus' Potions textbook for his horcrux is perfect! I am definitely looking forward to reading more.

    Author's Response:

    Oops! You're right.  Be back in a sec....ok, I changed it!  ;)

Thank you for reviewing!  I can't take the credit for the idea, as it was a challenge, but I hope that I am adding something original to it!

    Well! You got MY attention!

    Author's Response:

Is that good or bad? :o

I suppose if I got your attention, even if you hate it, it shows that I got you thinking! ;)

Thanks for taking the time to review! :)

What a novel approach to the subject matter - I can't wait to see how this story develops.

Author's Response: Thank you for your review.  It's a response to a challenge, and I'm hope I'm up to it! ;)
