Finally got the time to read this chapter. The house at Spinners End sounds wonderful, Harry's bedroom in particular. His happiness and contentment just leaked off the page (screen) and it is so nice to see him in this wonderful frame of mind. It is also wonderful to see Severus so content. But I do wish Severus had the insight to realise that Harry is not so disorganised that he keeps misplacing his completed homework. He is supposed to be getting to know Harry now. And Sev is usually so all-knowing and all-seeing in his potions class... can't he see or at least sense Adams smirking at Harry all the time?

Loved Harry dragging both Hermione and Ron to the RoR and insisting they make up. His little speech was brilliant. The Ginny/Harry interaction was also lovely. Harry must be getting a bit frustrated that he can't do more than give her a peck on the lips and run his fingers through his hair.

An altogether enjoyable chapter, but I cannot help but feel that the status quo may be disrupted soon. Harry has been happy for a little too long. Perhaps I am wrong... I hope so.

    Lesley~

    Author's Response:

With Harry's touch, Spinner's End had become more of a home now for Severus, than it ever was.    Harry so deserves to have a nice bedroom, and i really wanted him to have one; even if it's only in my story! Yeah, Harry's content now; he has a loving father, a lovely girlfriend, and the best friends that he could wish for!! What could go wrong? (innocent look)

Yeah, Severus is just a little distracted right now, but don't worry, the man is very perceptive and God help Adams when Severus finally wises up!

I loved writing that scene so much!!  I'm just a big romantic at heart. I wrote that little Ginny and Harry scene with you and my fellow GH shpper-lovers in mind. :)

Yeah, I suspect that Harry is taking a lot of cold showers!! It's a little tricky getting time alone with Ginny though; you know, being at a boarding school, in a a dorm with dozens of boys, and a Common Room with many more students. Where on earth do they find some privacy?  Also, as much as Harry wants Ginny, she's still only sixteen and has another year left of school, so either they have to look into some birth control, which is not always 100 percent, or continue to deny themselves. Aw...the trials and tribulations of young love. But then again...very soon, Harry and Ginny are not going to have time to think of their loves lives...(oooops....that was supposed to be a secret)

Oh, by the way, I've been rereading Shocking Discovery again!!! And I'm almost at the end, and I'm really really wanting more!!!

    Thanks for reviewing Lesley. :)

Great chapter. I love Severus & Harry's relationship - and how they're both appreciating what they now have. A bit of Ginny & Harry is good too, so you made me very happy. Hope the visit to London goes smoothly so we can see what Christmas brings.

    Author's Response:

Thanks Kate. I'm looking forward to Christmas as well. There are some surprises to come--both good and bad!

Aw, I love Ginny and Harry too.  I know that not everyone does, but I can't help it.

"Severus, in an act so totally foreign to him, did something that seemed to come instinctively; he pulled his son close to his chest and stroked his hair." 0_0 *loud crash!* Did you hear that? That was the sound of my jaw dropping and then falling off. YAY SEVERUS!! :D I knew he could do it, I just knew that he could! He just needed an extreme situation to push in into doing it. ^_^ Huzzah! First Hug has been initiated!!

But my gosh, that whole scene with Draco was a scary little bit, wasn't it? But you did it so well, Pandora! For a moment I got the sense of a doctor trying to calm down a crazed patient, which in a sense was exactly what was going on! It reminded me of a scene in Terminator 2...but that's probably just because I started watching it last night. ^_^ But it was still very well done!! It gave me the chills!

"Severus smirked at him. "That must take a lot of effort for you.""- Bwahahahaha!! XD I loved that line! I've actually said that to people when they tell me their thinking. It's a great line, and always give such fun results! I'm glad Severus got that one in their because it was TOO good to pass up! Excellent line! :)

"Instead, he'd gone on to treat the boy even more harshly to mask his own ambiguous feelings."- YAY a little bit of explaination! I liked that you showed Severus had cared in a way even before he knew HArry was his son. I think he did, in some way, care. But it WOULD be like Snape to try and hide it from everyone, including himself.

"He got up and put an assuring hand on Harry's shoulder. Oh Merlin, he thought, this was becoming a habit. Being a father is making me soft."- HAHA, Snape! You can't run from fatherhood now!! It'll always come back to bite you in the butt! XD Yay! They're forming SOME sort of father/son relationship. ^_^ I'm so pleased!!

Fantastic chapter, Pandora! I liked very very much!! Have another ten points for this chapter for your collection of Ivy points ;)

    Author's Response:

You were brave enough to call Snape "soft"!!! Yikes!  I'd run if I were you Ivy.

But this touchy feely thing is  becoming a habit, isn't it?  Ooops, I'd better run too.   Severus and Harry have a way to go in the "sharing their feelings" department, but they are on the road there.

Thanks Ivy, you are so sweet, and hey! I'm accumulating qutie a few points for Gryffindor! :)  Sev's going to be really pissed!

"Severus felt an almost overwhelming desire to comfort his son, and reassure him that it was not a hopeless cause. Severus found himself raising his arm and stiffly placing it on Harry's shoulders."- *gasp!* Can it be? *rubs eyes* Can it really be so? Did Severus Snape REALLY just offer physical comfort that was not end up with a book smashed into the back of the head?!? YAY!! *does a happy dance* I knew you had it in you Snape! Haha! That line made me so happy I wanna sing about it...but for the sake of everyones ears and my pride, I had better not at the moment. But yay Snape! Poor Harry though. How's he going to keep hating the man as much now that he's seen EVEN MORE how much Severus is trying? It is hard to keep hating when one's up against a person sincerly trying.

"The very behaviour that had saved Severus' life on numerous occasions, was not appropriate in a relationship with his son...Severus was terrified of betraying that trust—of letting his son down."- AWWWWW!! XD Okay, the second part of this is just so sweet and adorable and just...well, plain cute! He doesn't want to let Harry down! The Potions Master's getting to be a big cuddle, isn't he? *runs quickly to Sweden in hope of Snape not killing me* But the first part would be hard I think. I mean, Snape WOULD be set in his ways at his age, and then to have to get rid of the thing that's kept you alive for over half your life would be VERY difficult. But it's just so sweet that he's willing to try so that he can get to know Harry better.

But Draco, you little fink! Who goes in to Snape's office, already feeling guilty, and then lies pointblank to the man's face, hoping that you'd get away? Honestly! Snape's like a lie-sniffing hound! No matter what you do, he's going to figure it out! He just has the little lie-dar or something built into him.

But Harry heard that?! Oh hell, that's he going to do now?!? I hope Severus has Harry's wand or Draco's going to be a puddle by the end of this...

Great chapter Pandora! I'll read again when I can! :)

    Author's Response:

Yes Ivy, you can believe it! Some fluff from ole Snapey-Poo!

Ooh, I'd better run, because he's going to come after me. I'm in trouble. Calling Snape fluffy; that's a death wish.

Yes, he's willing to try and we'll see where it goes from here, won't we?

    Draco is defintely a fink!

Thanks Ivy. I'm anxious for an update from YOU my dear! :)

Draco, Draco, will you ever stay out of trouble? *shakes head* Poor Sev's so disappointed in him, isn't he?

“Here, read pages 235 to page 480. I will test you on it later.” Severus flicked his wand and the lantern beside Harry's bed flickered and lit up the room in a soft glow.- Nothing makes a teenager feel better than reading a text book. Good one Snape! *gives thumbs up* You REALLY have the best bedside manners. *rolls eyes*

"...like what a father should be; sensitive and understanding, caring and gentle. He had seemed like the kind of father that Harry had seen on the telly. And then there was Snape."- Snape? Like a buddy? 0_o I'd never believe it really. He might make a good father, but a father ONLY!! He's not the buddy type, is he?

"If Harry were honest with himself though, these times were becoming less frequent, and even when he was angry with the man, he could see that Snape was trying."-YAY!! It's sinking in! FINALLY!! I knew Harry would begin to see it all. Now if only they could limit their arguing...

"Harry had a childish desire to stick his tongue out at the git."-0_0 I would NEVER do that to Snape! My luck, if I ever did, he'd pull out some scissors and snip off my tongue! :(

"Yes Horace, I was just telling Potter the other day that when it came to his potion-making skills, that he took a leaf out of my book," he said dryly.-BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! XD OMGosh Pandora! That was one of the greatest lines I've ever heard! That expression never even crossed my mind with regards to an actual book until now! HAHAHA!! XD That's rich! I can just hear the driness of it all! XD Brilliant line!! 50 points to you for that one!!

I really like the whole interaction with Horace. He's probably going to (or had) a heart attack, with all this news. But I liked it a lot, especially his own thoughts on the pair. Very well done! I just hope that Horace will be able to help them...

Fantastic chappie Pandora! I'll read again when I get the chance. :)

    Author's Response:

Thanks Ivy. I just thought that it would be fun to have Harry in Sughorn's class, without the book, and see how Harry woulld fare.

Hee hee.  Yeah, Harry sticking out his tongue at Snape. Yeah, bad move on Harry's part. Not smart.  Nah, Snape is definitely not the buddy type.

    LOL!  Really great bedside manner.

Thanks Ivy, you are too sweet. Thanks for reviewing every chapter. Wow! I really appreciate it. :)

Title: Past Regrets 25 Jan 2010 6:16 am

Okay, sorry I haven't read for a while, but this weekend's been CRAZY! Started up another job, so I'll have less time on my hands now. :( But at least I'll get paid! ^_^ Always look on the bright side of life I suppose... but anywho, on with the review!!!

“A little decorum, if you will. This is a hospital, not a brothel,” he said snidely.-Bwahahahahahahaha! XD That was too funny! Poor Ginny, caught in the middle, her boyfriend not caring and bf's father caring A LOT. XD Priceless. I couldn't help but laugh here.

"Severus nodded his head. He flushed slightly at the compliment. He was quite unused to receiving them, after all." OMGosh!! That's way sweet and cute, and kinda sad! The image that came to my mind was kinda like the one from Sense and Sensibility where Colonel Brandon (Alan)blushes and smiles when Marrianne wants him to come back to read to her. It was precious!! Love that line to death!!

    “I hate you...you know that?”
“It breaks my heart,” Severus drawled.-HAHAHA! XD That whole scene was great! I just loved it, and could see the sarcastic face Snape would make while Harry's just scowling. Perfect!!

"Severus was quite content wallowing in his perpetual nastiness"- this was kinda sad, but kinda made me happy, does that make sense? It's like he knows what works so why change? It made me grin all over the place here!

This was one of the best chapters yet Pandora! I loved Severus's concern over Harry, even though Harry's still not quite with it yet, but at least Ginny and Hermione see how hard Sev's trying. I'm sure once Harry gets all healed up and better, he'll understand and appreciate everything much more. Oh! And the line where Severus is outraged that anyone would think HIS son is out of his mind was cute. Protective Sevvie= adorable Sevvie. XD (I'm going to have to go into hinding if he heard me say that)

But me thinks Draco's in for a time now! Run little ferret, RUN!! ^_^

Fantastic chappie Pandora! I'll try to read more later on!!

    Author's Response:

Aw, that was a lovely review Ivy. Thank you so much.

Severus is so fun to write. Those lines, really did come out of his mouth. He just wrote himself. :)

Yeah, Severus is trying, but it's not easy for the poor man after years of hiding behind the mask.

Ooh, I love that line about Draco. You are too funny.  "Run little ferret. Run!!"

Thank you Ivy, and I'm so anxious for an update from you.

Lol, poor Severus, forced to live in a winter wonderland for Christmas. I can't wait to see what you have in store for them during the holiday season.

As for this chapter, you've got me a bit nervous about Adams again. Was the overturned inkwell all he was up to or is it something bigger? Either way, I can tell that Harry hasn't seen the last of him yet. Hopefully he'll tell Severus before things get far too out of control.

I really liked the part where Harry and Severus finally talked about Sirius. It's nice that they've finally gotten to the point where they are able to do so without anger.

    Great chapter!

    -P.G.

    Author's Response:

Yeah, poor Severus, but he's a big softy underneath all that snark. I'm excited too, to write the holidays.

Adams is definitely up to no good, and Harry is Harry; likes to deal with his problems on his own, but Severus is perceptive and perhaps will see what's going on on his own. We shall see!

Oh, I'm glad that you liked that conversation. i thought that it was important for their relationship to be able to talk about any subject, no matter how painful or uncomfortable it made either one of them, and since the pain of grief is still so fresh for Harry from all the casualties of the war, and it's only been a couple years since he lost Sirius, Harry needs to purge all the hurt from his system. Grief can take years to heal from, if ever.

    Thanks P.G.

    Hi Pandora.
This is my first review but I have been following this story ever since it was first published and have loved the entire plotline.
My only one complaint is that the story is its pace - it is very slow. As far as advancing the plot is concerned, very few things happen in each chapter - or maybe, it's only because I actually like it a lot and am always wanting to read more.

That said, I realise that it is your style and that each of the chapter tells us about their relationship - I think maybe the problem is that I am not sure where the story is now going to.

I still love your story and your writing in general. My only issues are pace and the feeling that the main part of the story is over.

I am waiting on pins and needles for your 'Sparks Will Fly' update. Love that story as well.

    Lia

    Author's Response:

Oh, I understand perfectly, but trust me, the story is not even started yet. I was going through a bit of writer's block, so I apologise if the story seems slow.

I will try to pick up the pace a bit, but the things that I have planned have to play out first, or it will seem too rushed. It's not easy finding a balance between slow and too rushed, but I'll try.

    Thanks for reviewing.

“Mr. Adams, if you ever again, lay a finger on my son,” he hissed vehemently, “you will regret it.”- AHAHA!! This wins the "Oh SNAP" Award for the day! I literally snapped my fingers at this line. You gettem Sev! Nobody messes with da Potions Masta or he messes you up good!! (I have no idea why I went all 1950's there)...but in a strange way, I do feel kinda bad for that Adams kid. I mean, it WAS Harry that started it all by pushing him...but I'm still glad the kid's gunna have to face Snape soon. XD

Harry's a little bit of a nut, isn't he? WHY mess with Snape? The man almost always come out on top!- and then add in the fact that he's scarey as hell when he's mad! Harry's a VERY lucky boy that he didn't act this way when Sev thought he was really James's son. >_< Harry's be a puddle right now.

But I was impressed with Severus in this chapter. He's doing really good...for him. He's been caring, attentive, even a bit understanding, all of this in his own way of course, but it shows now. I'm glad that he's stepping up to the plate. But I was sad for him when he thought about all the wasted years...*sniff* Poor man..

But Draco, you little wanker! He's going to cause all kinds of trouble! Stupid kid!

    Fantastic chappie Pandora!! :D

    Author's Response:

Thanks Ivy.  I love a protective Severus. I think that this incident really brought home to Severus, just what his feelings towards Harry were, and how deep hi spaternal feeings are.

Harry is being controlled by Dark Magic, or he would never have dared push Sev's buttons like that!

Sevrus is getting thre,Slowly but surely.

Draco is pushing his limites, that's for sure.

    Thanks Ivy.

Haha! Poor Harry, had to get all sobered up by daddy dearest...poor kid, but it was his own fault. I kinda clapped for Severus there. I would have done something a bit cruel like that myself...actually, when my older sister was home from a party one time, she slept on the couch and I made bacon and sausage for her that morning. ^_^ She didn't have a fun time after that.

But my my, what tempers! I was actually thinking along the lines of Harry when he asked why Snape got to call him Potter and he couldn't call him Snape. Poor Sev, now that he calls Harry by his name it'll make the boy more human to him. What an unfortunate thing *SARCASM!!!*

But Minerva must just like shows because she let Harry and Ginny tag team it up against Snape. Poor man, I really thought he was going to lose it there for a minute...or two. I think I would've flipped out had I been that angry, but then again, Snape is a master at control...in some ways...

But me thinks Draco's going to cause some MAJOR problems here. I mean, Harry was starting to actually realize that Snape's trying, even in his befuddled state, but at the same time, his mind's delicate and I think Draco wants to mess it all up. PRAT!!

Now, the only remaining question here is who's Severus going to go to for help?....

Fantastic chappie Pandora! I'll read on later. :D

    Author's Response:

You didn't go to bed yet!  :O

I would NOT want to be sobered up by Severus Snape, that is for sure! :)  Well, sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind.  No one could accuse Severus of being kind, not if they value their lives, that is! LOL.  Ooh, that sounds horrible with a hangover!  I bet she never wanted that for breakfast again! :)

    Like father, like son, eh?

Minerva can be tough sometimes. I guess she feels that there is power in numbers!

Yes, you cannot trust Draco as far as you can throw him, and sometimes I'd dearly love to throw him.  Harry is beginning to see subtle signs of change in Snape. It's a slow process, but Snape is slowly coming around. Unfortunately, Draco WILL try to mess it all up for Sev and Harry, but whether it'll work or not, is another matter.

    Thanks Ivy!!!
