Reviews For Life as Dictated by a Talking Hat
I really love the way that Severus is handling Harry. Hopefully, he'll continue to come around. I sincerely hope that Harry can go with Severus some how, and never return to the Dursleys. Awesome, well written. What more can I say about this story, but I love it. Author's Response: Thanks!!! I'm glad you like it so much!! Rhiannan
Author's Response: LOL That could be good...I'll explore the idea. :-) Thanks for the review!! B0)
I really enjoyed the moment where Snape asked Harry to show him the magic with the knut. I found Harry's shyness rather endearing, and I was glad to find a moment like that in this chapter. I think if Snape were to allow Harry to cultivate his talents/intelligence more often (and it seems as though that's what Snape is doing now), Harry might lose a bit of that horrible attitude. That said, I really find it difficult to stomach his impoliteness and impudence sometimes. I think it's definitely because we see so much of Harry's thoughts. Harry has made a teeny bit of progress, but I'm getting anxious to see that facade crack, whether it be from Snape's kindness or persistence....or maybe even stern impatience. However, I'm not sure if punishment has any effect on your version of Harry. I am suprised, though, that Snape hasn't lost his cool with Harry before this. It's nearly getting to the point where Harry dominates Snape's authority sometimes...he definitely challenges the authority of his other professors. I wonder if Snape will finally have a moment where he insists that Harry control himself or face the consequences. Perhaps a good scolding, where Snape is the one that tells Harry how it is...and how it's going to be (without using physical punishment) would do wonders for him... Harry needs to understand that Snape isn't going to let him get away with bad behavior, regardless of his past, because he CARES about him and wants him to grow up to be a good, empathetic person who can control himself (in a way the Dursleys never cared to cultivate). I guess I'm just waiting for that big, angsty moment when Harry finally releases his guilt and tension and stops being so rude!...LOL. As for Shakespearean plays, I'll say Macbeth (because I just taught it this year) and King Lear (because it's one of my favorites). :-) Author's Response: Yey long review! As for your comments - yeah Harry's pretty rude. I figure Snape is letting some of it slide just so he can TALK to Harry; if he focuses too much on HOW Harry talks, it's likely he won't talk at all. Scolding might help, but then if Harry still doesn't care about Snape's opinion, it also might be useless. You're right about Macbeth. The other play Snape gives Harry is Twelfth Night (my personal favorite).
Author's Response: Thanks!!
Author's Response: Glad you like it!!! Thanks for the review!!
Author's Response: LOL That could be good. :-) Thanks!
Severus must have the patience of a saint to deal with young Harry. Hmm, I am guessing Twelfth Night and MacBeth (which is a terribly incorrect history wise - MacBeth was a great king and ruled for many years - stupid Shakespeare.) Author's Response: Yup, right about the plays. And Shakespeare was brilliant -maybe he just didn't like King Macbeth or his patron (the current king) didn't. Who knows. That's not my favorite of Shakespeare's - I much prefer Twelfth Night and the Taming of the Shrew. (Hence choosing them). Thanks for the review!!!
I adore how Snape (and, frankly, everyone) is handling Harry. I love Harry's potential. The interactions in this chapter are so very well done. *glee* K Author's Response: Yup, and the other play was Twelfth Night. I'm glad you liked the chapter so much. I'm not real confident about it, for some reason. Thanks for the review!! :-)
Author's Response: Yup, you're right about the plays. :-) Thanks for the review!
Author's Response: Yup, Twelfth Night and Macbeth. Twelfth Night and the Taming of the Shrew are my two favorite plays. I'm glad you like this chapter. I'm sorta getting the impression that not everybody does. :-( Thanks for the review!! |
