Reviews For Serendipity
Author's Response: Hello! Thanks so much for the review! :-) I actually didn't change his age at all in that chapter. When Ginny was talking to the waiter in the beginning, she actually says that he's AROUND six months old, not EXACTLY six months old. He was actually around 2-5 days away from six months, if I remember the date of that chapter correctly. I recall timing it that way. But he was still five months old for sure in that particular chapter. In the chapters following that, which they spend in Godric's Hollow, he's definitely six months by then. Anyway, I also wanted to point out that all children develop at different paces. Some children walk at six months while others walk at eighteen. It all depends on the child. The way Sev talks around that chapter is the product of a moderately-developed mind that knows how to speak English, knows how to pronounce all the letters, but is missing a few essential tools for making all the sounds. Thus, he has some creative ways of expressing what he's trying to say. What I tried to do is stick to sounds that a little person with no teeth, a mouth, and moderate throat control can make and extrapolated from there. It's no different from baby babble, really. And five to six months is generally when they start to babble a lot. Only Sev already knows how to speak English, so it's baby babble that actually makes sense. Regular babies are still learning their first language at this stage, but Sev has the added benefit of already knowing the language. Thus, creative use of his mouth, tongue, and throat for communicating. I see no problem with the way he talks in this chapter. Once again, thanks so much for the review, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the story! :-) Winger
Looking forward to more soon. DMxx
On to the review: I love this story!! This is my first Deaged!Sev story that I have read, I have read a ton of Deaged!Harry and Deaged!Draco stories, bot this is the first Sev story. And I have to say that I absolutely love it! I really like your take on how Sev's mind works now, how he has all of his memories, but none of the "learned behaviors". How did you come up with that? It is brilliant. Also, I loved how Sev nailed Sirius's nose. I can just imagine Sirius leaning in to take a closer look at Sev to see if it is really him, and then, Bam. ;-} I also loved that you included one of my favorite stores. IKEA!! And then you had Harry and Ginny have one of my all time favorite foods at IKEA, the meatballs! All of that to say, I really love the story and can't wait for the next chapter. Good luck on your midterms. ;-}
I realize that the animosity will not fade that quickly, but I really liked the thought of the infant being the bigger man. And obviously so did Sev.
I hope this story isn't near ending yet! I want to see who Lily is born as! It would be absolutely *hysterical* if it was Hermione and Ron's future daughter...!! Author's Response: Oh, I absolutely AGREE with you! About Harry's characterization, I mean. :P I remember when I started reading the fifth book, all the points where JKR had him screaming in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS-- that really, really got irritating after a while. I just stopped reading. I loved Harry's character from books 1-4. After 5, it just seemed really...off to me. I don't know. This is how I pictured he would mature over the years. To me, everything that happened to him would make him more contemplative; jaded, if you will. He would still be reckless, but he wouldn't be...the way JKR wrote him to be, I guess. I don't know. I really found Harry's character from books 5-7 rather annoying as well. Daniel Radcliffe plays it A LOT better, in my opinion.
