Thanks for a great, albeit sad, story. It was very nicely done, with many unexpected turns.

Well.. *cough* I wasn't expecting to end my journey through this story bawling my eyes out but here we are.

I feel like my heart has been ripped out of my chest, and my throat is on fire because I've been crying. I should be working damnit! I haven't worked all day, I've read this story! And now I can't stop crying.

It's the sign of an amazing writer that can draw these emotions out of a reader. So while right now I'm quite displeased and I will be crying for a while... thank you for another amazing story.

I've just finished this story, and I read 'Shadowlands' before this one. I like both stories, and I really look forward to reading the sequel to this one.

I really liked this and I cried when he died. I kept expecting him to show back up and tell everyone that he managed to use a spell to survive. This is really good and really sad.
    Peace!

I was looking for something excellent, long, and completed to read and stumbled again across Shadowland, not thinking I'd read it before. Of course, I loved it the first time and the second was just as good - especially since I'd forgotten many details so I got some of the full original impact. Continuing on to the sequel was just as good. But then about 4 chapters ago I started wondering in the back of my mind "wait, is this the one where Harry DIES???"

I've only read one story in which Harry dies - that would be this one. And the first time I hated you. Hate's a strong word, but really, I did. I nearly stopped reading the story at that point because I was so upset, which I absolutely abhor doing. Over the following months, I've since come to grips with his death, even though it makes me unhappy. I understand that in some stories it just calls for it, and being a more advanced writer myself now, I can accept your reasons and see that it does work in this instance.

Of course I had to keep reading until the end this time as well, to figure out if this was the one where he dies (it was). As I was reading the two chapters before and when he dies, I actually yelled at my computer "Now I know why this isn't on my favorites list!" A question I'd asked myself ever since beginning to read the series.

And gosh darn it if you didn't make me cry a SECOND TIME! Seriously - I'm like stone-faced show-no-emotion person here (kinda like Severus actually...) and you've managed to literally make tears roll down my face not once, but TWICE, with the same book!

Are you sure you don't have anything published? I'm not joking when I say you should look into it. I'm an English Writing major, and one of my favorite professors - whom I've taken several past and present classes under - is a published author, so I'm speaking with some authority here. It takes some serious skill to make me react like that, and then keep on reading after the fact as well! If you can pull it out of me, you can pull it out of a crap-ton of other people too.

So here I am, sitting here waiting for my parents to come for Sophomore Parents' Weekend at college, and trying to get rid of puffy red eyes so they don't ask embarrassing questions, and it's all your fault! **Sigh...** Oh well. This one is definitely going to be marked down on my list as a most excellent tragedy, noted not to read if I'm depressed!

Keep up the good work, and I'd love to hear back from you!
    MJ

    Author's Response:

Heh, don't take this the wrong way, but I'm glad that you cried.  (See, now that just sounded wrong), but I like knowing I have the ability to write something so emotionally in depth that I can draw emotion from the reader.  That is first and foremost always my goal in writing a story.  If I can't feel any emotion writing it, then I feel it's not worth reading.

I don't have anything published at this point, but would one day like to become a published author.  My problem is that I cannot seem to come up with decent characters or a good universe of my own.  I have thought about writing something to publish many times, but know that I would like to publish a Christian themed novel first, and am not sure how exactly to do that.  Most of my time is spent reading HP fan-fic rather than Christian novels, and they are definitely different.  It's also definitely different to sit down and write something in a universe that is already well established, that people already know what's going on, than trying to write something new where everything has to be explained the first time.

I'm so very glad that you liked it (even if you do hate me for Harry's death).  This was my first series in the Harry/ Snape as father universe, and I'm glad it came out like it did.

Maybe someday I will be able to come up with a really good idea for a novel.  I have a few, and yet have never developed them fully enough to write a novel, although that is my goal.  That would actually work out great for me since I'd like to considder being a stay at home mom/wife and writing would work great for that.

Feel free to contact me via e-mail if you want to talk further, or IM if you have yahoo IM I can give you my chat name if you e-mail.

Thanks again for the honest and in-depth review. (So interesting to hear from a writing major).
