So Harry is reading books on the Dark Arts is he?

I love how the simplest compliment makes Harry feel good. A throwback from his relatives treatment, how sad..

I can see subtle signs that both are starting to care about each other, but are afraid to admit it.

Author's Response: Well, it's also that it's a compliment from Snape. He has to adjust it up some. ;-)

I really loved that conversation between them about affection and what is deserved. It's such a poignant discussion and they were both so painfully in character. I absolutely adored it. Especially because Snape so frankly says he doesn't deserve it. Maybe one day he'll get it.

Author's Response: Thanks! Snape has a lot to learn, or to unlearn.

That last scene was beautiful and now Harry knows that Severus does truly love him. I hope that Draco will turn out to be a true friend to Harry and I'm very happy that he is giving him a real chance. While having friends, such as Hermione and the Weasleys, is good, I feel that Harry needs to broaden his horizens and make more friends.

Author's Response: Thank you! I liked the way that scene came out; it's one of my favorites.

What a wonderful way to end this chapter. Harry hearing Severus declaration of love! Thank you for that. This has been a wonderful story all the way around. You have gotten to me on so many emotional levels. Draco, I'm not sure about. I will wait to pass judgment. I await your update.

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad to know it's moving (and that Draco is as ambiguous as he should be). Enjoy the rest!

"Fifteen if she's got her wand."--Really brilliant. Severus now realizes that his punishment may include watching *his* child killed.

I found this chapter quite confusing, especially Harry reaction to Severus being summoned.

Author's Response: Is that confusing? He started out the day on edge from fighting with Ron and Hermione, and from the meeting with his father being postponed.  Since then, he's found out that Draco saw him with Severus a few days earlier, and that makes Severus being summoned more frightening -- Voldemort could potentially be calling him in order to kill him. Harry's usual reaction to trouble is to run toward it....

I'll just bet Severus has had dozens of parent-teacher conferences, and has thoroughly despised the parents in each one, for being defensive of their children. And then he does the same, when he's in that position...

    Author's Response:

LOL! I'm sure you're right. Well, no one's ever accused him of being fair.....

    Thanks for all the comments!

I like the way you show how people can go completely wrongheaded...

    Creepy.

    Author's Response: Yup.

I think Lupin is the male Hermoine.

Author's Response: Yes. He really is. Somewhat wiser and mellower from age, but serving much the same role.
