And...Snape has to get used to reacting differently to Harry. Not easy for him, so he has to edit what he says...
Title: On Distinguishing Evil From Vice 18 Dec 2009 10:28 pm

Poor Severus! First his son criticizes his appearance, and then his peers assume he can't afford Harry's robes. I bet he never knew parenthood was such a humiliating experience.

Hermoine's parents are well done...but what rumours about Harry have reached the Muggle press?

Author's Response: Well, there was a house broken into and three people died -- Obliviators may manage to remove all memory of the Dark Mark and men in robes, but the entire incident couldn't be erased. Anyone talking to the neighbors would find out about a fourth member of the household -- a withdrawn, badly dressed teen -- who was supposedly at a reform school that either doesn't exist or has never heard of him. As the missing person, he's an obvious suspect, and I imagine people would begin to extrapolate, and the neighbors to reinterpret what they had seen....

A good chapter, wherein Snape is distracted from paternity by his slavery.

I enjoyed this chapter, especially seeing behaviour from Harry that would have caused Snape to complain bitterly in their old relationship.

Fabulous chapters! I loved Remus' reactions to that whole thing. Love as well that you can't really forget that Remus is a werewolf in this story. With comments like 'smelling' James and Lily and the like. I'm really glad Severus consented to telling Remus too; poor Remus was really going crazy there with his assumptions. LOL

    Author's Response:

Remus as a wolfy werewolf is really a break from canon, but I wrote original werewolf fic before I wrote HP fanfic, and really prefer the werewolf aspect to have some effect on the human form, at least near the full moon.Having decided to allow myself that, I could do so much with it!

And yes, Remus was freaking out! He'll be much calmer for a while, now.

And Harry thought his life was complicated!!! The backstory certainly gives canon events a new and convincing spin. I couldn't help but smile when Harry suggested that if they tried they might find a second flaw in Remus but ten minutes would not be enough time for them to list each others flaws!! Your Harry is very perceptive about things!

    Author's Response:

Weaving this highly unlikely scenario in with then-canon was one of the things that inspired me to take the challenge. Another was that I wanted to have Sirius dying cause Harry -- eventually -- to become more mature. (When HBP finally came out, I was really disappointed with how it glossed over the effects of the battle in the Ministry.)

I bet that a part of Severus wanted to hex those horrible family of Harry's into oblivian.

I guess that being confronted with information that goes against everything that you've believed so far, is difficult for Snape to process.

Poor Harry. I can't wait till he gets out of there.

This is one of my favourite parts of the story--when Severus finds out that Harry is his son. That was too precious.

I love that love, that if anyone can scare the brat into silence, it's Snape.

Dumbledore is so manipulative; he can make Snape do anything with a mixture of manipulation and guilt.

You portray these characters so perfectly.

    Author's Response:

Even when he's certain Dumbledore will not get him to do what he wants this time....
