Wonderful story but I am a bit confused about something. In chapter one..."Severus nodded tightly. “Unfortunately, yes. Assuming that the potion takes you past the point where you were left with your aunt and uncle, you will behave like a child who has been abused. Any fears that you might have derived from that will be present, as will any insecurities. Worse, you won’t know where they are coming from.”"
So from this we know Severus knew about Harry's abuse and that it started at the Dursley's at age 15 months, and yet so far Sev appears clueless as to the fact that this four year old Evan is an abuse victim and that many unknowns could trigger what he called 'insecurities' but seemed to be unformed flashbacks due to the amnesia effect of the potion.
Severus is generally portrayed as a brilliant observant man if not an outright genius and this seems very out of character even if it makes the story flow.
Author's Response: Thank you for bringing that plot hole to my attention. Fortunatley, it's not something completely inconceived--in my mind, the situation is rather clear, I just... havn't gotten around to making it clear to everyone else, I guess.
Severus knows that Harry is abused, but he does not necessarily know the extent of the abuse. He is, of course, brilliant, but that doesn't mean that he can figure everything ou instantaneously. What he knows of Harry's abuse doens't include, for example, the fact that Harry was locked in a cupboard, so Evan hiding in a closet is strange to him.
In any case, I will be sure to make everything clear in later chapters so that it doesn't seem so strange and out of character, as you say. Just keep in mind that everything in the story has happened in about a day and a night. Snape hasn't had time to reflect on things.
