First of all, I get Tobias' sentiment in not going to Hogwarts disguised but HELLO! the fae court is going to know where he is in like two seconds. You don't hide a giraffe in a heard of zebra. Paltry pride aside, that wasn't a smart move for someone in hiding. I enjoyed that Tobias got it explained to him that people avoided him in part because of his own attitude. Its an extremely good point. We hardly ever realize how our own behavior is perceived by others. Case in point: really shy children are often seen as rude and stuck up by more outgoing kids because the outgoing kids don't understand why the shy child doesn't say 'hello' and are hurt by what they perceive as an aloof attitude. So there are two People in among the first years. Considering how small that group generally is every year there HAS to be a proportionate group of People already attending Hogwarts in all grade levels. UNLESS Toby was sent for a reason and Akela is the one off Were that shows up every once in awhile. It speaks really horribly of the Wizarding community that they have this huge population of People and yet are not only startled and frightened of different looks and behaviors but completely ignorant of types and species. The segregation must be nearly as complete or even more so than segregation from Muggles. Hufflepuff. I always wondered if Harry would be sorted into Hufflepuff if he was sorted at a later age. Fresh from the Dursleys, Harry had no one and nothing to be loyal to. At Hogwarts, Loyalty quickly became a huge defining characteristic of Harry Potter. Although hard work, not so much. Sirius. I've never liked Sirius. I swore my eternal hate for him the moment he hurt Harry's feelings in book 6. But I do give him more slack than other characters because he is fresh from loony-ville and pretty messed up. I do understand that, like it or not, Harry not being James' kid could put distance between them but Harry is still Lily's child and that should mean something. Legally, he is also STILL Harry's godfather and that should mean something as well. I don't know what Snape's deal is but so far I'm enjoying that the plot doesn't just revolve around the Severitus thing. I mean I wouldn't mind if it did, it's just this is proceeding a bit differently and I enjoy the change of pace. Author's Response: Oh, wow, nice long review. Thanks so much for all of your comments. I'm working on the Snape thing - he'll be in it more eventually, but it's gonna take a little while. As for Sirius...yeah, I liked him until 6th book. It's obvious that you've done a lot of research on the People, and I thoroughly enjoyed how you explained and showed the reader things about each type without being pedantic or boring. The personalities of all the original characters are engaging and I do hope that Harry gets to go back to Outcast's Alley to visit his friends there soon. And Mo is a darling! :) Hurray for People among the first years! I think I'd like to see Akela meet Lupin sometime. I really doubt that she will choose to hide like he has. I also like Toby. Will we learn what kind of fae he is sometime soon?
